Thanks Ellen. We've been studying PRP in scarring alopecias and it's not clear (yet) what it really does it anything. It's possible it helps some temporarily but I really am not convinced it has a sustained benefit if it does help. More studies are needed. As far a Replicel dermal cup/sheath technologies , these studies are being developed for androgenetic alopecia as you may know. If a scarring alopecia is active (inflammation beneath the scalp), these therapies are not likely to help. Could it help some injured hairs in quiter forms of the disease? Maybe but that has never been studied. Androgenetic alopecia is a condition of poorer functioning dermal papillae - and Replicel technologies help dermal papillae specifically. Scarring alopecias are not primarily diseases of the dermal papillae. So these technologies would be predicted to be less helpful in these situations. Great question!
Can Oral Minoxidil works on thickening the hairline and turns the vellus hair into terminal hair. I have a number of vellus hair on the hairline but finasteride and topical minoxidil are still not turning the vellus hair into terminal, after 4 months.
Any thoughts on the efficiency of topical finasteride with the latest data?
