I've been asking for HDMI in on tablets for a long time. Glad this is happening. Given that most portable monitors don't include batteries, offer horrible panels, have really bad build quality and can't cover any other functions, this is the most sensible place to go. Also, makes big tablets way more viable just by covering a ton of use cases other than just being a tablet. This should be standard in most high end tablets, since it would effectively make the tablet part of the device feel more affordable, considering you get other uses out of it.

I had this tablet in my cart multiple times but kept canceling my order. I want S8 Ultra and gladly wait until Black Friday to get a couple of hundreds off. This is the 11 inch S8 I want, my swing for the 12.4 but I feel it might be too big.
The S8 is a monster, I love the ultra but yeah it’s way to big, I had the S7 plus and it was also just a huge 12.4. For gaming in handheld mode the 11 is the way to go for sure
Really reckon some tough, high bitrate, media playback benchmarks would be good for this. (both natively, and, say, from an external device, but I think the HDMI input is only 1.4) If there's a way of outputting that Dolby Vision licence to a DV OLED, this could genuinely be the world's best UHD 4K DV playback device given the Android OS. Things like some full DV UHD BR rips (FEL & MEL), high bitrate audio AND video samples from online, etc.
What live wallpaper was the first one? I really want it! The second one was nice too. I had the Lneovo Yoga 3 Plus from a few years ago. Before I finally settled on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ I was considering this. But my previous Yoga really became sluggish after about a years use, but that only had 3GB of memory. I'd hope this wouldn't have the same experience. I loved the screen and stand on it. I would have considered this one if Lenovo had better Android update support. Great review as always! Now someone please get me those live wallpapers haha.
HDMI in seems brilliant, especially with a display that size. I'm sad I missed the sale, or I'd pick one up in a heartbeat for emulation! As an aside: Can we get battery capacities measured in Watt-hours instead of milliamp-hours? That rating doesn't mean much without a voltage!
@@Hamox The battery voltage in most devices is actually somwhere around 3.8V. Even the charging voltage is lower, around 4.3V. So the 5V input from USB usually has to be stepped down internally before it reaches the battery.
Still waiting for global release....but I wish it was at the price you got. It's a steal as to compare with portable monitor Buying mainly cause it works as a 2nd monitor.
It's great and was debating it but will wait for the base ipad design refresh and use it as a third screen on my M1 Apple setup (unfortunately only one screen out unless you use sidecar on iPad).
Great video! Can you do one on the Lenovo P12 pro and Lenovo Project Unity? Interested to see how that works for a secondary monitor or if the yoga tab 13 is the way to go
I would love to see a Motorola Tablet. Lenovo is great though. In my country, it's still expensive. it's about the same price as an S8 Tab. I rather get the s8 tab for that or a second hand, s7 tab but if this was cheaper, maybe around the price ETA prime got it, I would have considered
Did you detect any sort of input lag or response time issues when using this as a portable monitor? Curious how it fares compared to portable screens that talk about 3ms or 4ms response times, and if the fact it's doing this with Android under the hood adds any lag to the experience.
I would have an instant buy on something like this if they integrated the Micro HDMI display capabilities into USB-C. Imagine being able to use the touchscreen of your Android tablet with a high quality pen!
The only problem is no SD slot. Kinda defeats the purpose of emulating GC, DC and PS2 when you're stuck w/128gb. Even local media like video and music you'll struggle with data management. Otherwise it's amazing fir the price. Along with the HDMI In it has active stylus support so great for plugging into the PC as a drawing or editing tab.
This is an excellent idea! Even after the tablet becomes obsolete, it can have a second life as a nice display reducing e-waste.
If only it worked as a touch screen as well!

@@hababacon haha that's cute
Never understood why samsung didn't put a Hdmi in on their View tablet like this has
Really reckon some tough, high bitrate, media playback benchmarks would be good for this. (both natively, and, say, from an external device, but I think the HDMI input is only 1.4)
If there's a way of outputting that Dolby Vision licence to a DV OLED, this could genuinely be the world's best UHD 4K DV playback device given the Android OS.
I live in Canada and it is normally 950ish. It's on sale on their website for 590 after HST and promo codes.
It seams to be rocking the same battery as the duet 5, 50 wh.
Here is calculations :
10000 mah=10 ah
5v (on most mobile devices)
5x10=50wh
@@Hamox The battery voltage in most devices is actually somwhere around 3.8V. Even the charging voltage is lower, around 4.3V. So the 5V input from USB usually has to be stepped down internally before it reaches the battery.
Currently back on sale
Still waiting for global release....but I wish it was at the price you got. It's a steal as to compare with portable monitor
Buying mainly cause it works as a 2nd monitor.
Portrait mode when using as an external monitor will be perfect for laptop companion.
It's great and was debating it but will wait for the base ipad design refresh and use it as a third screen on my M1 Apple setup (unfortunately only one screen out unless you use sidecar on iPad).
Good review ❤❤
What about desktop mode on external display ?
This would be great for movies
Never not once have I seen any of these great deals at the actual great price not once
Great video! Can you do one on the Lenovo P12 pro and Lenovo Project Unity? Interested to see how that works for a secondary monitor or if the yoga tab 13 is the way to go
Are you going to do a video to show the best way to set this tablet. I'm not a big gamer but like TH-cam videos and photos.
I would love to see a Motorola Tablet. Lenovo is great though. In my country, it's still expensive. it's about the same price as an S8 Tab. I rather get the s8 tab for that or a second hand, s7 tab but if this was cheaper, maybe around the price ETA prime got it, I would have considered
love your videos, can I know where can I get that keyboard you're using ?
That is super cool it can be use as a monitor as well.
What wallpaper are you using? And how to get it?
Did you detect any sort of input lag or response time issues when using this as a portable monitor? Curious how it fares compared to portable screens that talk about 3ms or 4ms response times, and if the fact it's doing this with Android under the hood adds any lag to the experience.
Typo in the description. Lenovo Yoga Yab made me chuckle
I would have an instant buy on something like this if they integrated the Micro HDMI display capabilities into USB-C. Imagine being able to use the touchscreen of your Android tablet with a high quality pen!
Like the Samsung tabs?
@@jd2161 Correction: to use the display connected to a computer with a stylus, like with a laptop.
nice review, does the yoga have some kind of desktop mode?
Love you eta prime
The only problem is no SD slot. Kinda defeats the purpose of emulating GC, DC and PS2 when you're stuck w/128gb. Even local media like video and music you'll struggle with data management. Otherwise it's amazing fir the price. Along with the HDMI In it has active stylus support so great for plugging into the PC as a drawing or editing tab.
Interested in more info on the live backgrounds you use.
Quick face reveal at 9:08 handsome man!!!
