I think it is from.a spare plug fuse terminal in the fuse box. A spade terminal fitted a treat. Otherwise you can go from the battery and through the bulkhead behind the glovebox
Hi Lisa. How do you know which wire is which as part of the car wiring loom ? I’ve fitted the towbar, I’ve got the wiring inside the car but now I’m baffled as I don’t have any wiring diagram for the car (also a golf mk7). We will be away camping in two weeks time and I’m getting desperate to sort out the wiring. Regards, Florin
Hi, a have question about the brake light and side lights.Relay using only single feed from brake lights to power side lights on trailer, but when you step on car brake without side light on, did a trailer side lights come on with brake lights ? Thanks.

I followed the wires back from the light cluster. This did include removing lots of trim from the interior.

No the relay uses the canbus signal voltage to operate the correct lights on the trailer. Side and brake lights operate seperatly like on the car.
Hi Lisa, where did you connect the reverse wire to please?
I think the towing relay has a reverse signal and output. If not i will have just soldered into the main loom but i think it is relay controlled.
you havent shown most important part
it was straight forward to connect the trailer to relay
how you connected cables from relay to car wires
,??
Just spliced into the loom. Easy peasy. Nice and straight forward.
