I was born and raised in New York, but at the time this game came out, I was living in Texas. This game helped me fight my homesickness.. No BS. I loved True Crime New York City!

Spiderman was another good representation of New York, but True Crime got every single street in Manhattan, which is not easy. Downtown Manhattan in True Crime is just as frustrating to drive in as it is in real life 😂😂😂😂

Some of these games of the PS2 era had really strong narratives. Excellent dialogue and storytelling. Honest, thoughtful and creative. Would love to see these same kind of games on the consoles of today.

One of my favorite games. It was glitchy asf but the missions were so freaking fun. The amount of guns, number of fighting styles, and the variety of ways you can take down the criminals made this game truly special.
Why the hell they have stopped this series? it was all just amazing. the size of the maps (almost as big as in real life), great stories, great missions, great open-world with also great indoor locations. It was such a huge competetor to GTA. And in some things (even until now), it is beating GTA by far. WE NEED THIS GAME SERIES BACK!

Square Enix bought the rights I think. Activision is done with this series. Sleeping Dogs is its child and it did good but Square wanted more money and did not like the sales regardless of the good reviews. They have officially killed off the developing studio and have no plans on making another one.

For everyone asking for a remake....just play Sleeping Dogs. Its basically a unofficial sequel to this series, seeing as it originally started out as True Crime Hong Kong but studio fuckery got in the way.
One of the hardest missions on here was when you were in some kind of sewer and the bad guy had a machine gun that blew your limbs away. I took me so many times to pass that!
It looks like that in 2000 the Ford Crown Victoria was the only one car being sold. And, by the way, in 2000 the Crown Vic was different from the 2005 version
I used to play this on GameCube as a teen. Recently bought it back on PS2. One of the many favorite forgotten games I miss. It badly needs a Remake. Although I look forward to playing it like this whenever I build my first PC.
Activision could compete with rockstar if they went back to making games like this. Rockstar seems to focus on the criminal aspect with every game they put out, activision could be the other side of the coin.

One of the hardest missions on here was when you were in some kind of sewer and the bad guy had a machine gun that blew your limbs away. I took me so many times to pass that!

My grandpa had both the true crime games plus all the ps2 GTA titles. I would sleep over there and play them all for hours.

Activision could compete with rockstar if they went back to making games like this. Rockstar seems to focus on the criminal aspect with every game they put out, activision could be the other side of the coin.
Activision has lost it's touch. They fuck up on COD and other titles. Maybe in the 6th or possibly the 7th gen era but now defiantly not.
Rahjee Brunner I mean it’s like riding a bike. You make something this innovative so early on, you still have all of the brainstorms and blueprints from this project, I don’t see why they can’t revisit it and build something with the technology we have now.
I agree & wish that'd happen, but Activison was afraid that it wouldn't sell like GTA or Red Dead. Now they have all their devs assisting with CoD or Destiny in some way. #MakeActivisionGreatAgain
Don’t get me wrong, I love rockstar, a majority of my childhood was spent playing their games but they’re a monopoly. It’d just be nice to see things in a different light.

This was one hell of a classic game. I remember going to my cousin’s house just to play this and then finally my Mum brought this for me.
