August, 2020. Bought my Beyerdynamic on October 2019, and it has been a disaster. Sound, as you say, amazing but with no ANC cause buggy AF. Weird noises, crackling, it would suddenly stop working, then back after a few seconds...Constant interruptions... Terrible. Then I decided to send them back for possible fixing and after 3 months, (I bugged them in 4 times during that time) still not fixed!! I asked for my money back, gladly the shop where I got them understood and did it immediately. So, August 2020. Still dealing with this problems you mentioned, more than a year later!!
What are you thinking to replace them with? My first pair of Lagoons were very tinny and replaced with another which had constant Bluetooth issues. Now I've finally received a refund. I'm not sure what to go for. The PX7 feel like weights are on your head (very heavy), H9 isn't great either, XM4s sound very bass heavy and NC700s are the master of none, jack of no trades.
Thanks very much for the video. I'm looking for a Beyerdynamic non-ANC because I don't need ANC, but odd they don't seem to have something with this quality sound but without ANC.
Yes!! You are the only one who has spoken about this distorsion issue... I bought this because analysts gave it very good review... however i found some distorsion in some genres like hard rock or metal, the sound is not clean in some parts... I don't know if is bass or high guitars... of course it isn't in all songs but is very annoying when I listened it ...
Got it - love it. Very impressed by the unusually smooth clear sound, which is essentially the same wired or Bluetooth, and/or with ANC turned on. The build quality is very nice, and despite any plastic components, it's not a lightweight headphone. It feels very substantial. I'm not intending to use any apps to change the sound, because I'm extremely happy with how it sounds now.
I find a good foam iem really is the most convenient. I don’t even use qc35 the often. I do international flights several times a year, roughly 13 hours every time, and I grab the Bose less and less because it is not breathable. I use the Vega iem by campfire most of the time. I have gone through ten pairs of foam tips to find the one that does NOT hurt/pressure my ear. And foam is really comparable to mediocre ANC headphone. And my god the sound quality is miles better.
Yeah my only issue with foam tips is that they kinda put a slight pressure on my ear which drives me crazy quite quick, but I'm insanely over sensitive when it comes to my ears in the first place. I too do think anc is overrated
@@TheNitpicker Yeah, ANC automatically meaning compromises in audio that is just how the technology works, the "phase shifted soundwaves" will always leak and eat up some frequencies and details. BTW, foams tips pressure my ears too, that is why I tried so many. My ears holes are small. (Comly also sounds terrible, it kills the treble.) So I try to find foam tips with thin foam padding. Try the RIYO tips from Amazon, it is NOT memory foam and it absorbs less treble than most foam tips that I tried, here is the link in case you cannot find it: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071YQQKPQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (I got the grey ones in small, the red and black might have a different texture, haven't tried.) Check it out, maybe you will like it. Or the dekoni tips, which I personally hate but it seems to have a good reputation.
The Nitpicker tried this headphone in the shop for 30 minutes today and I can say I agree with everything you said line by line. ANC not impressive at all, not that I’m a huge fan of ANC but at the end of the day these are ANC headphones! Sound quality was awesome but for my ears not loud enough. Build quality is not worth the $600 AUD price tag in my opinion and all in all i felt frustrated not being able to make a decision. Is there a headphone out there that ticks all the boxes? Or do I just give up and by the XM3 like a ....
I haven't found one yet, I hoped the Denon gc30 to be that but got disappointed here quickly as well. Not sure if such a thing exists yet, really sorry, with anc they are just targeting different people than US, very good sound is just no priority when it comes to anc and those with have mediocre anc and weak volume like here 😥
Hello, i'm very curious of what do you think about the 3-rd gen B&O H9 ( or the 2-nd gen H9i since they can be found cheaper) or the NAD HP-70, they are higly praised for the sound quality. I'm very curious of the new Bose also but i'm using android and they still haven't included aptx . Thx for the review, i'WAS interested of these Beyerdynamic , but no more.
Cant believe they are literally just all plastic. $500?? Fucking ridiculous. They look like they should be priced in the $250 to $300 range. Nuff said.
Thanks for the thorough review! First I'd seen that had any balance toward what should have been better. Your comments with regard to the weight/clamping force and probable discomfort from heat made me cancel my order :) I currently have a Bose NC 700 on its way and a Master & Dynamic MW65 on its way to compare. Guessing the Bose will win for ANC and MW65 will beat in sound quality :/
Great review. The MyAudioSession Bluetooth Headphones did the sound personification better than this. It's manual, but more accurate and flexible in my opinion.
Cracky headband spoils all effect of ANC. It is cracking and clicking even on the movement of your head, even they are pretty squashing, so they will sound like a plastic bucket when you will touch it and even scratch your head. If you have some problem with hearing causing to you bad side to side balance they not gonna help - you will get kind of average profile for both ears, so you will have to workaround somehow. And they are very shallow - my ears are not very big but they touch the fabric inside. Hear is no Ambient/Social mode and you will not hear your voice properly on a phone call. ANC hiss in standby mode is really noticeable. Other stuff works as expected and sounds good. But all those flaws make the Lagoons pretty overpriced.
Thankyou for the review! saved me $600 What would you recommend with good anc for jet travel? Im sure theres some.sort of model out there thats a good balance. I looked at some B&o ones but didnt test them. would appreciate any input greatly. I also looked at the sony 1000 ones and they felt super cheap and junky for the cost.
I dont understand why earmuffs or ear defenders can work so well without batteries, butttt $$$$ Active headphones cant be built with a similar design. active and passive.

Can I please ask, what is your most recommended Bluetooth headphone at the moment? prefering SQ to ANC.
That would be the Lagoon then

I've tried the while BT series 2 years ago, tried the 2nd gen H9i and honestly didn't really found much to like on any of them
Sound quality is excellent in the B&O, but the volume is low in Bluetooth mode. That and the circular earpads aren't as comfortable as oval earpads.
Hello, would you recommend this over the Sennheiser PCX 550 ll in terms of SQ ???
The Lagoon sound more neutral, overall more balanced, better but the comfort and anc are lacking
Cant believe they are literally just all plastic.

$300 is way too much for a crap headphone.
Please do the Denon AH GC30 😁

let us know how you compare the two when you get it?

I've not reviewed one that really fully fits the bill unfortunately, it's always either or

Ich hatte echt mehr von den erwartet
the designer of this headphone needs to be fired
