to get to your reel faster after hookups, try running your left hand over the outermost moving rim of the spool like the edge of a basketball being spun on ones finger. i use that method
Using streamer and popper especially with weed guards look into strip setting you get a way more solid hook sets
If you take a beach towel, wet it and ring out the excess, you can lay it over most of the accessories/rigging in your kayak so your fly line will not catch on them ... poor man's stripping basket ... I do that in my kayak and it works well in low to medium winds

Editing Skills are second to none, Im just learning and its so intimidating' but im trying my best to push through. And you guys need to like the video so westin will show up in my feed, im subscribed to so many ppl that looking in my notifications is a rare occurrence. Westin should be getting waaaaaaaay more views than this espcially with norm in the video. Maybe ppl dont like the fly fishing Idk I like it though, its diff and a lot harder.

Try to strip it to set the hook if you set it like a regular rod I find usually that's when you break a rod. Just don't wanna see ya break it
No hate on your skills but try a strip set before pulling the rod up for hook ups. Love the content!!
I'm here in Texas all my life .. I want to give you a tip.. when a bass hits a good fly it will eat it stop setting the hook so fast it wasn't the weed guard.. wait 3 or 4 sec before you set the hook trust me he will keep it
I started when I was 12.. I'm 37 now just let him take it.. your not fishing with treble hooks bro
When you set the hook you need to strip set. That is the reason you missed some of those fish.
You want to strip the line when your going to set the hook and you should see a better hook up ratio ! Most of the time just getting the line tight is enough and the fish hooks himself !
