The problem at UoN is an iceberg of the education system in Kenya. Public universities should be Centers of Excellence whose products are excellence-producing. Why should Kenyatta University have other degree programs instead of focusing on education and innovations in education making Kenya a center of excellence in the region. I do not blame the university for not remitting the statutory; the problem is due to inadequate government allocation for running academic programs. For retirement age benchmark with other international universities as the University does not exist in isolation. It is time universities are funded based on being centres of excellence in different aspects with innovative programs that empower the young generation of Kenyans to reduce unemployment. We may be educated but education is irrelevant for that gate of time ten.

Telling a professor to retire at 55 will mean that Kenya will have less than 10 professors. Some dons becomes profs. at that age.
