Great video GIV. I loved Bette White , like millions of people. You look like you’ve gotten a little color, LA is good for you. I don’t think people need homes that big, some of those homes only have 2 people living in them. People have too much money. Don’t think that you are less than them. I also learned most of these people were not happy. Of course I can only speak about the people I met, but what looks so good on the outside is not always what it appears to be on the inside.

When the poor come into money, and they have the wrong mindset, they don't manage it well. That's where the misery can come into play for some of them. And when I say inherit I am especially referring to those who are born into wealth. In the cases of many of those homes you see in this video, the majority are probably families with generational wealth. As for a home, home is when you are with the people that you love. Without them, it's not a home. That's true for the poor as much as it is for the rich.
In the 1970s, I met Betty and her husband Allen Ludden at CBS Television City after they had appeared as guests on the TV game show, "Tattletales." I waited outside the studio after the show to meet them and get their autographs, which I still have. They were both very nice. I was a teenager. I used to get kind of depressed when I was younger and seeing those rich people. Older I get, I realized some of them are just miserable. They get divorces or get into bad addictions etc (some); I was able to retire at age 51 and my home is paid for, I have really no bills, I could pretty much travel any where and buy things I want (not everything); but guess what, it doesn’t bring me joy. It's always sad when you see former celeb homes. It makes me NOT want homes like those. You live in them, you die and it seems as if someone else takes it over and that is the end of you. It is all temporary.
Betty white’s estate required the home to be demolished. Betty didn’t want anyone else to live in her home after she died. She didn’t even allow the new buyer to tour the property.
Thanks, Mike! If someone is able to enjoy what they've built for a good amount of time (like your parents and their house), it is not sad once it is over. They got to enjoy it! What's sad is when people work so hard and cannot enjoy what they've achieved or built. Betty had a good life in a good house in a good neighborhood. That's what matters.
I moved from LA to Idaho 20 years ago. I went back to LA for a funeral 4 years ago. I couldn’t believe have far down the sewer it fell. My last house, which was beautiful with lush landscaping, now is in disrepair and all the landscaping is dead and there are weeds as tall as I am. It WAS a beautiful neighborhood, but not anymore. There were people openly using drugs and illegal aliens are the majority in some places. And yes, it is true that people are using the sidewalks as their toilet. You can walk down some streets and actually see people taking a dump, right in public in broad daylight. I used to work in a jail and thought I had seen everything, but it even shocked me. I will NEVER go back there again, not even for a short visit.
I think it was kind of you to mention Nicole several times and Ron Goldman. Many folks still grieve their loss and you have made their memory fresh again. Thank you. Really ty 🌹
My mother in law lived on south Saltaire ( so of sunset) they bought the house in the early 50's. They paid 25,000 and when she passed 6 yrs ago it was sold for 2.2 million.
Betty White lived a VERY GREAT life. Sadly she lost the love of her life way to soon, they were made for each other, her and Allen Ludden from password game show fame. She loved her Carmel house that’s where she wanted to be. She and Allen had it built together it was their love nest. This house in Brentwood served it purpose for her Hollywood career and later in life for her medical care. I’m sure it was in disrepair, she knew it would be torn down and sold for the land. Everything changes. GIV it’s so nice you have such a kind caring heart don’t ever loose that quality, it’s GOLD. Rest In Peace Betty, your with your Allen again 💔

Yeah, good question. Where does all of that money come from? I've worked in a number of affluent neighborhoods and met and got to know some of the homeowners. Many of them were born into it, and they got a nice push in life. I don't think I ever met a single one of them who is more positive and has a passion for life than the GIV. You are wealthy Notorious One. You're a positive influence on us humans. And I thank you for that.
GG was my moms favorite show and Betty was one of her favorite actresses. She had such dignity and will always be admired and missed. It’s a sad story but thanks to you we all got a bit closer to her. Thanks so much for all you do, you’re insightful coverage and a fresh take on the subjects you cover are well done and much appreciated!
I always feel like it's such a huge loss when certain people's things are taken away. Things that seem so revelant to me and others I see are really not. When you're gone no one really cares.
My husband and I love all your videos. We first saw you on a video with Adam The Woo and checked your channel out and loved all you do so we subscribed. We have gone back and binge watched most of your videos. We really were sad when we saw this video because we loved Betty and it is always sad to see these homes torn down. We love your videos with your mother who seems so sweet and of Germany. It is so nice to see places I have heard so much about but will never get to to see myself so I do it through your videos. Keep up the great videos and we look forward to the next one.
I found in a google search photos of the property, front yard and back. It was immaculate. Pictures of her home in Carmel are absolutely stunning! Panoramic Ocean views in every room. The Carmel-by-the-Sea home started in 1978 and it was completed in 1981 and sadly enough Betty's husband Allen Ludden only spent a few night in it. He died of stomach cancer.
It's fun getting to see "behind the scenes" In L.A. and probably the biggest reason I would ever want to live there. It's easy to forget all these stars have lives away from the tv or movie screen.
I loved Betty, her two big television hits, for me were The Mary Tyler Moore Show in the 70s and The Golden Girls in the 80s and early 90s. Thanks for showing us another peek at 506 Carmelina Ave.
I think the gardeners or landscapers that receive the check are happy and get paid well. If they work for a company's behalf, their check might not be as large, but I think still happy. My husband worked in an office making more money, but then transitioned to landscaping making less, he was SO happy being outside, moving, and seeing the end projects of his landscaping. It was way worth it for him. His clients would be surprised to see he was the one working on their lawns because they (sadly) didn't expect to see him since he looked like he worked in an office.
GIV, thank you for this video! So interesting .. Like you, I am very fascinated with the case of Ron and Nicole. God rest their souls. I remember the day I heard they were murdered and I was so shocked that OJ was involved. These houses are amazing! You're right, we need to get our of our little four walls and explore different locations. Aw, sad to see Betty's home demolished. thank you for taking us on fun little excursions. We appreciate you!
Absolutely beautiful, warm, nostalgic video about GG and Betty White! I’ve been watching Golden Girls for years and years- best show about our good times in late 80s-90s, good old times! Thank for this video- loved it❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The show “The Golden Girls” was wonderful. Truly funny. Could a show like that that be made today? Very doubtful. The culture is so “youth” oriented - even more than than! Guess what folks? We all get old if we are lucky.
My 2 oldest sons in their late 30's Still Love the GGs. They laugh so hard and brings them great memories. My youngest Son, @31, loves that show more than all of them. So shows like these, they treasure. This gives me so much faith in the younger generation. I find these boys hilarious because I didn't watch the show Anywhere near as they do lol.
GiV, so glad you did this video. I appreciate all the work and time you put into the videos you post. I also love your life motto. Life is too short so it’s important to do what makes you happy. I hope someone has footage of the demolition and reaches out to you. You should film the new construction as it progresses until it’s completed. Thank you for everything you share with us.
Reminds me of the house that 4 generations of my family lived in. It was sold in 1997 before my grandmother died. It was in a industrial mix area and we thought that the new owner was going to tear it down for his business. He used it as a live-in with his inventory stored in the cleared yard. Built in the 1920's it was closing in on age 95. They scraped it a year ago and now squeezed a 12 unit, 3-floor vertical apartment unit is on the 1 1/2 plot parcel. The rest of that neighborhood is going vertical at one old house at a time.
I was in the US Army in Germany , we had our post {kaserne} torn down and apartments were built on the land ..a local German national photographer took videos of the demolition and we are still in a facebook group of US veterans who post photos of the old barracks we lived in .......................filming is important..................these old places still exist in our minds ...I love that aspect of your channel
To think Betty had no family, to leave her fortune to. I believe she donated everything to all her animal causes. Kind of like what Bob Barker will do. They never had any kids and never re-married. They both were widowers for over 50 + years. Thanks for the tour.
I live in the foothills in N Ca, and my 10 acres is like a deer, hummingbird, and turkey preserve. I would not be able to live with a neighbor so close. I cherish my seclusion and privacy. My gardens are always being improved, and this property is thriving with new fruit trees, scrub oaks and pines.
Sometimes you are pretty serious….I appreciate you thoughts and discussions and your story of how you always loved America…..I remember you showing your bedroom in Germany.
So sad about Betty's house. But life goes on, and new progress is made with everything. I think people do what they love and are cut out to do. Not everybody wants to be a celebrity. Also: Sad about Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman = being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I couldn't live in a house where a brutal crime went on. Thanks for covering these places, Mike!!! Love all your videos!!!
I laughed when you talked about wanting to go door to door and ask the residents, "What do you do for a living?" I've wanted to do the exact same thing in the wealthier neighborhoods where I live! 🤣🏰 ETA: Betty's house was lovely -- very "homey" looking. Whoever bought the property probably tore down her house so they could build a big, ugly, tacky McMansion in its place.
I love how people not from California have this idea what actually occurs in California. We have our flaws that’s for sure but as far as housing goes there are many many houses that maintain their beauty. I live in the gold country, houses were built during the gold rush and still stand and are lived in.

Such a sad loss. If I had bought it, I would just refurbish it. Younger people have to go big and fancy to show off. I hope her Carmel house is still there. ❤️Betty.
I don't think I could live in that condo after seeing the gruesome images of the murderer's handywork. To get into and out of the house you would have to walk over the murder scene every day. I would feel like I'm disrespecting their memory. I really feel that because of how brutal the murders were it has left some really bad energy behind.
I watch Betty almost every night playing her cray character we all love… I thought someone would have just remodeled the home , just to say it was hers instead of tearing it down. 😫 I sure would have loved to live in that neighborhood you was strolling through,,,, just a dream. It's always sad when you see former celeb homes. It makes me NOT want homes like those. You live in them, you die and it seems as if someone else takes it over and that is the end of you. It is all temporary.
That's pretty much the same for everything, though. Once we die, everything we own will be thrown away, given away, or sold.
I kept a lot of things from my brother and I kept quite a bit from my dad, but when I die, my kids will probably throw away that old stuff or sell it.
Truth! That body you walk around in is just on lease and your contract could end any minute.
Betty white’s estate required the home to be demolished. Betty didn’t want anyone else to live in her home after she died. She didn’t even allow the new buyer to tour the property.
@@Cwgrlup That's crazy. How could someone buy a house without looking at it and not knowing what they would get?
I was so sad when she passed that close to 100, but she went out in style on new years.
Thank you for letting me see Betty White Location
Thanks, Mike!
If someone is able to enjoy what they've built for a good amount of time (like your parents and their house), it is not sad once it is over. They got to enjoy it! What's sad is when people work so hard and cannot enjoy what they've achieved or built. Betty had a good life in a good house in a good neighborhood. That's what matters.
Right! When you leave this earth, what goes on here is none of your care...
That’s a good way to look at it.
I never had a desire to visit LA but you make it real. Thanks for the videos GIV!
You made this topic interesting for me. You have a great energy!
Your in my friends old neighborhood, Thank you Dearly for the memories!!💛
Betty White was one of a kind and will be missed!!!
So so sad!!!
GIV, I love what u do!!!
Thank u!!!
I think it was kind of you to mention Nicole several times and Ron Goldman. Many folks still grieve their loss and you have made their memory fresh again. Thank you. Really ty 🌹
Thank you German in Venice, you GIV us great content!
It's so horrible what happened to Nicole and Ron and their loved ones.

Thankyou for such an interesting video and still so sad. Hope to see many more of your videos. Thankyou. 😊
GREAT tour! Thank You for showing us around!
Thank you for being a friend, travel down the road and back again
GiV, I love your channel. Thank you for starting such a TH-cam channel that gives JOY. I am absolutely grateful for you. I am Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 in Africa and live in the UK 🇬🇧. I LOVE travelling, learning and seeing the world 🌎 and your channel allows me to do just that. Sad that Betty's house was not saved or made into a museum. I grew up in Zimbabwe watching The Golden Girls with my father in the 90s. Watching this video, reminded me of my late father and it brought so many warm memories. Thank you for bringing this back to me.
Really great video Michael, I was going to say Mike but Michael is such a beautiful name. Thank you for honouring and remembering Betty White in such a lovely way, I'm sure she's smiling down at you❤ that really came from your heart. Also thank you for your kind words about Nicole . Godbless you GiV. Big love and hugs. 🙏💫☘️💚✌️❣️
Awww, so sad they demolished it! I love, the Golden Girls & watch everyday! Betty White, will always be remembered & never, forgotten. RIP Betty!😢
Her will stated she wanted it to be torn down
Fortunately the house she built by monterey is safe that's the place she really liked

Thank you for the tour, time continues to march on.
Really enjoyed this video. Thank you!
Always enjoy time spent with GiV… sending love to you.
You are a wonderfully delightful man. Your attitude is so positive it always cheers me up, thanks for that.
Thank you G.I.V showing the Betty White House 🏠 wow the Golden Girl 👧 where it's was tv 📺 series 😎👍
Too bad “they” all had wangers 🤯 like most so called women in Hellywood 👿 Same with Victory Secret, all men 🤦🏻♀️ Time to wake up

We had a great time visiting Venice Beach last weekend, super lucky we ran into you! Nice meeting you GIV! 🏄♀💪🏖
G.I.V great video thankyou for showing us. I feel your pain and it saddens me watching this
I always feel like it's such a huge loss when certain people's things are taken away. Things that seem so revelant to me and others I see are really not. When you're gone no one really cares.
Imagine how the world would look like if nothing would change😉
@@HeroInTheSun Probably a whole lot better than it does now. Change isn't always for the better.
Life is rapidly progressive on this earth & it stands true most forget quickly!😢
From what I understand is that Betty wanted her house to be tore down as she didn't want people disturbing anyone.
@@HeroInTheSun, that's a good thought.
Hi how are you doing?
Hot in Cleveland
Thank for this video- loved it❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love your passion and knowledge about people and places. It makes me smile to know you love what you do, and it shows in your videos.
great video. i always love to whatch your videos. thank you.
Mike .... This was a GREAT VIDEO man ....... Very GOOD information on a Superstar actress as FAMOUS as Betty White !!! "Thanks" GIV
“I Mean we only here once in a lifetime, why not try to get the best you can?” I used your quote on my vision board!!!

I appreciate you, thank you for making content.
I would love to thank you , for all the work , you put into your videos, I feel like I'm there with you
Thank you for the great video! I enjoyed it 💖
So sad about Betty's house.
Thanks for showing this. I love seeing the door with the cat and the dog on the mailbox. Those really reminded me of her and her work with animals🐶🐱.
Really sad to all that history destroyed like nothing, but thanks for your videos GIV
You’re doing a great job documenting all that you do. I so agree with so much that you’ve said.
The inside of the house wasn't in great shape. She wanted it torn down.
Yes that’s what they do in California
@@cariemorgangraff4829 I'm curious what you think is done in California, please elaborate.
I love how people not from California have this idea what actually occurs in California. We have our flaws that’s for sure but as far as housing goes there are many many houses that maintain their beauty. I live in the gold country, houses were built during the gold rush and still stand and are lived in.
@@cyn4476 in Corona Del Mar most property is sold torn down and big houses are built. This area was all little beach cottages now there are not many left. It changed the look of the area. I went to high school there my mother lived there until her passing 2015. I’ll bet the same thing is going on in lots of areas of SoCal. One of the many reason no type of starter homes left.
Hi Mike, I just looked on Google Earth, you can still see a street view and satellite view of Betty's house. Thanks for posting.
Thank you for the video. Actually, only the land was sold. The people that bought the house couldn't even view it. It was to be torn down honoring Betty's wishes.

She wanted it torn down ? Why?

Such a sad loss. If I had bought it, I would just refurbish it. Younger people have to go big and fancy to show off. I hope her Carmel house is still there. ❤️Betty.
Understand YOu Very Well !!!! Thanks for sharing!!! 🤗♥️🙏🏼
I don't think I could live in that condo after seeing the gruesome images of the murderer's handywork. To get into and out of the house you would have to walk over the murder scene every day. I would feel like I'm disrespecting their memory. I really feel that because of how brutal the murders were it has left some really bad energy behind.
I feel good watching your videos!🤗
I watch Betty almost every night playing her cray character we all love… I thought someone would have just remodeled the home , just to say it was hers instead of tearing it down. 😫 I sure would have loved to live in that neighborhood you was strolling through,,,, just a dream. Thanks for the ride through☺️😉
She had in her will for it to be torn down due to she didn't want people disturbing the community.
My friend and I went to Pinks Hot Dog Stand in LA, we had one that Betty White named “The Naked Betty”. It a plain hot dog 🌭 with nothing on it. It was delicious. No condiments nothing. So if your in the area stop by “Pinks Hot Dog Stand” try out the Naked Betty, in honor of Betty White. Thinking about it, wondering if Pinks is still there ? Thanks for the video GiV !

So sad. Love the yellow door thanks for showing 💛🙏
I just googled the house. In the information it says she had 3 step children from ludden but she never had any legal heirs. Her worth is 75+ million but it's still a mystery who her estate went to besides animal charities. How sad😕 She was so loved by everyone. I almost feel with all of the fame she still died alone. My💔.
I think she looked forward to being with her Allen again!!
