Because if u watch long enough u can say u saw everything he shows how many times can u see Venus or Hollywood and riding on the scooter looking for something to show nice for awhile
Share ,share, share. Get the word out. I like all his videos. He doesn’t only focus on CA. You must be new around here @geraldjonhson2657. When was the last time you were in a blimp? He spent a brief time in Germany with his mother and friends. You’re just a hater.
I remember that, too!! I was in Cub Scouts and one of the other kids' Dad worked at PDX Airport (Portland, Oregon) and somehow got me and 4 or 5 other kids a ride in the blimp, during the Portland Rose Festival. The coolest hour of my life as a kid!!!
Sweet. As a TV news cameraman years ago, I was able to ride in the blimp before a football game. Unbelievable experience. Will never forget it. Congrats.
You had the best seat in the back, so panoramic! That's the best height and speed for seeing around LA, you can see all the detail and don't miss anything. You are living your best dreams of Hollywood and LA, you never would have thought this when you were a kid in Germany. Thanks for the ride along!
Mike you are one lucky dude!!! I have lived in Palos Verdes my whole life, for the last 60 years, and watched the blimp go by so many times. I have always wanted to take a ride in it. I was walking down at Torrance beach yesterday and saw you guy by...AWESOME!!
Great video. I once got into a race with the Goodyear Blimp, about 1977. I was in my 1950 Piper Pacer (N7652K) and I spotted the blimp not far from Chino and immediately gave pursuit. My little Piper could hit 120 and I soon overtook the big fat balloon and flew circles around it. (at a safe distance). Then I returned to base, San Juan Capistrano. Loved all the scenes over the city and beaches. LA looks better from the air than it does on the ground. Herr Luttges, you are the best ambassador to the US that old Deutchland ever had.
That’s Carson. My wife and kids were on it one weekend many years ago while I was working nearby on the ocean as a Coast Guard officer. Thank you GiV! And to the guys besides you!!!
Mike, was hier wieder deutlich heraus kommt, ist Deine Dankbarkeit. Das macht Dich bei "uns" Deutschen so sympathisch. Um diese Erfahrung mit dem Zeppelin beneiden wir Dich. All the best to you and warm greetings from Germany's wild south (Schwaben 😃)
Man, I grew up in Carson and I grew up to seeing this blimp land by Victoria park… back when the blimp was all silver and black writing… this is soooo cool to see this…
I worked for Goodyear Aerospace, which was not far from Wingfoot Lake, where the blimp was docked. I _almost_ got a ride on board, but lost my seat at the last moment to a corporate big-wig. Once in a lifetime opportunity. I'm *so* jelly Mike!
I worked for the Wheel & Brake division. My primary duties were calibration of the brake & anti-skid units for the F-16 Falcon for General Dynamics. It was a good gig, but I found a better job and moved on.
Love the video it was awesome. I saw the GoodYear blimp a long time ago. I remember that the blimp was a different color like Grey Silver, and I did remember it had the lights on the side of it. It used to fly at night to and you would see the different color lights on it. It's so cool that it will be 100 years next year for GoodYear. Love that blimp.❤
Flying in a blimp has always been a dream of mine since I was kid. I was lucky enough to spot one flying over LA last year while my wife and I were on our honeymoon. Being able to check the inside and see the full experience through the lens of no other than the GiV makes it even better. Thank you Mike!
Oh my GOSH!! I saw it yesterday flying near downtown L.A. !!! I was at work there and got excited to see the blimp. How awesome to know the GIV was up there inside it at that moment!! 😮😆🥳🚀
Great vlog Giv. My dad worked for GoodYears in the uk..They use to have a families open day fete once a year and the airship use to come and there was a draw for a flight in the airship for the workers. This looks amazing so cool indeed. Fantastic vlog indeed Mike Giv👌❤️👍
One of your best VERY ENJOYABLE Videos!! I sat with a smile on my face the whole time. Especially when you were filming thru the window down with no window borders in the picture. FELT LIKE I WAS THERE! Kudos for a great video. I used to collect minerals along the Palos Verdes cliffs. It was nice to see what it looked like from the air! Im in Florida now, flat sandbar. A 1 inch tidal wave and the state is under water. Great Job German in Venice!!!!!
Wonderful ! Some 30 or 40 years ago a blimp was also stationed in Spring, TX, just north of Houston, 3 miles from where I live. We lost the blimp to some other city up north, Cleveland or so. Would have loved to fly in that thing.
I have seen it take off once , used to live near that IKEA at the end. I asked about tickets, and was prepared to spend a few hundred dollars, only to be told it was invitation only as you said. You are indeed lucky.
Wow wow wow !!! I’ve been living in LA all my life and i have NEVER NEVER EVER SEEN the inside of the blimp because it’s very exlusive to get in. WOW ! Thank you GIV for showing us your experience !
Awesome! I won a blimp ride several years ago. I was terrified of flying in general, but the blimp ride cured me. Thanks for showing, brought back memories .
Mike!! You're just a soild dude! I pray that good things keep happening for you. Thanks for always being so positive! Definitely appreciate you and your content!
Thanks German....I was able to see tons of places I used to live and hang at. I always wondered what the view from the Goodyear was like. Salute & Peace as always.
Me and couple friends in Cub Scouts got to ride in the Goodyear Blimp in the early 80's, in Portland, Oregon. That was the absolute coolest flight I've ever taken. I've flown in planes a lot and a few helicopters, but the blimp was so smooth, quiet and incredibly stable. We were up for about an hour and went by fast, but I remember it like it was yesterday. Would love to do it again. Thanks for sharing, this brought back great memories!!!
I’m so happy 80slife invited you on the blimp. Thank you 80slife! I used to see the Good Year blimp every day from our condo in Redondo Beach, and I could hear the motor from my window. I loved living there and walking down to the Pier in the morning to watch the shrimp boats leaving for the day! Thank you so much!
I have been to Fredrickshaven in Germany where the first Zepplins were made.No Zepplins there now but you can get a ferry across Lake Constance to Switzerland.
Man dude, that is a mind blower it looks like fun the fact that it goes so slow is what's cool you get to see everything instead of just rushing through it you get a chill and watch, excellent video MR. Mike.😅😅😅
I'm so happy that you had a fun and successful ride in the blimp! How exciting! Hate to say it, but when I first saw it, I thought of the Hindenberg. Glad everything went well for you!
Always fun to see the Goodyear blimp, attached to its mooring mast, along the side the 405 freeway. I’ve seen it numerous times flying over DTLA, LA coliseum and Rose Bowl.
So fortunate Mike! And what a gorgeous day to fly. I flew in The Eagle out of Carson almost 30 years ago. Surprised friends visiting from out of town with the flight. Nothing like it!
That's so cool GiV to ride in the Good Year Blimp. In the 1970's in Ontario California the Good Year Blimp would flly over Ontario at nite with its lighted Billboard and graphics advertising the Big Race The California 500 Indy Race at Ontario Motor Speedway ..Cool stuff

What an incredible experience. I grew up in LA. I have memories of watching the Goodyear blimp with my grandpa. He passed away in 2000. I’ve always wanted to ride in the blimp. Thanks for sharing the experience Mike!
If I remember correctly back in the day the lighted marque on each side would scroll the words Go Go Goodyear. Thanks for taking us on the experience as well. Wow!
Mike what an opportunity for you! It was fascinating seeing the inside where you sat and the pilots explaining how you could open the windows. Thanks to your friend for giving you this chance.
I grew up in Akron, Ohio, "The Rubber Capital of The World" (at least back then!) and my dad worked for B.F.Goodrich. The gigantic hanger for the Goodyear blimp was a part of the landscape. As kids we were told that it could actually have clouds and rain inside because it was so big. I would LOVE to ride in the blimp, thank-you for sharing.
Shoutout To TH-camr “80SLIFE” for making this happen for GIV!!!

I remember in the late 70’s and the blimp would fly around at night with a light show on its side. So much fun running out to see it!!

That's cool, Sly. Air Dock was awesome!
I always heard that the air dock generated it's own weather, and it's true. I actually saw it *raining* in there!
