Because if u watch long enough u can say u saw everything he shows how many times can u see Venus or Hollywood and riding on the scooter looking for something to show nice for awhile
Great video. I once got into a race with the Goodyear Blimp, about 1977. I was in my 1950 Piper Pacer (N7652K) and I spotted the blimp not far from Chino and immediately gave pursuit. My little Piper could hit 120 and I soon overtook the big fat balloon and flew circles around it. (at a safe distance). Then I returned to base, San Juan Capistrano. Loved all the scenes over the city and beaches. LA looks better from the air than it does on the ground. Herr Luttges, you are the best ambassador to the US that old Deutchland ever had.
Sweet. As a TV news cameraman years ago, I was able to ride in the blimp before a football game. Unbelievable experience. Will never forget it. Congrats.
Flying in a blimp has always been a dream of mine since I was kid. I was lucky enough to spot one flying over LA last year while my wife and I were on our honeymoon. Being able to check the inside and see the full experience through the lens of no other than the GiV makes it even better. Thank you Mike!
That’s Carson. My wife and kids were on it one weekend many years ago while I was working nearby on the ocean as a Coast Guard officer. Thank you GiV! And to the guys besides you!!!
I live in Columbus, Ohio (usa) which is not that far from Akron, Ohio, where there is a giant blimp hanger. It is so large several blimps can park inside of it. It was probably built in the 1940s, for (war time) use, but probably not today. I've only seen photos of the blimp hanger, and it is staggering looking. It is like a mammoth quonset hut, with an arched roof line that is 4 or 5 stories tall. There are also a lot of smaller airfields in and around Columbus, where blimps could park at before deploying to a stadium. In the summer, blimps are randomly in our air space. I'm old enough to remember seeing the older, post war time, Zeppelins. I saw them when I was a kid living in Cleveland, Ohio, in the 1950s.
I have seen it take off once , used to live near that IKEA at the end. I asked about tickets, and was prepared to spend a few hundred dollars, only to be told it was invitation only as you said. You are indeed lucky.
Great video, GIV! If I wasn't already subscribed to "80's life" I would have definitely subscribed. Since I'm 50 years old, I love going back in time watching his content. P.S. (in my best Indiana Jones voice)That Members Only jacket belongs in a museum! 😝
If I remember correctly back in the day the lighted marque on each side would scroll the words Go Go Goodyear. Thanks for taking us on the experience as well. Wow!
You had the best seat in the back, so panoramic! That's the best height and speed for seeing around LA, you can see all the detail and don't miss anything. You are living your best dreams of Hollywood and LA, you never would have thought this when you were a kid in Germany. Thanks for the ride along!
Love the video it was awesome. I saw the GoodYear blimp a long time ago. I remember that the blimp was a different color like Grey Silver, and I did remember it had the lights on the side of it. It used to fly at night to and you would see the different color lights on it. It's so cool that it will be 100 years next year for GoodYear. Love that blimp.❤
Oh my GOSH!! I saw it yesterday flying near downtown L.A. !!! I was at work there and got excited to see the blimp. How awesome to know the GIV was up there inside it at that moment!! 😮😆🥳🚀
I'm so happy that you had a fun and successful ride in the blimp! How exciting! Hate to say it, but when I first saw it, I thought of the Hindenberg. Glad everything went well for you!
I have been on blimp. I like it more than helicopter and i have been where the Zeppelin was build in Riga Central Market. Personally my worst experience was jumping from the plane. It was insane. Thanks Mike for the nice memories..
I worked for Goodyear Aerospace, which was not far from Wingfoot Lake, where the blimp was docked. I _almost_ got a ride on board, but lost my seat at the last moment to a corporate big-wig. Once in a lifetime opportunity. I'm *so* jelly Mike!
My Dad worked for Goodyear- Plant Two in Akron. We ended up in Topeka when production wound down in Akron. My Uncle kept his Akron job building Eagle race tires, and Presidential Tires. Yup summers at the company lake. Private lake back then with lots 9f amenities for company families.
Oh, My Grandma would tell me about the Air Dock. She said when she was young she saw the Akron and the Macon come and go all the time. She said those things were massive compared to a blimp.
@@jeffreyoldham55 My Dad told me that too about the rain. I don't know if he ment a cloud would form or maybe it was just condensation. Dad started at Goodyear in 1960 so he would have been 22 then. They trained him as a Supervisor/Manager after he did well on the aptitude test. Goodyear sent him to Akron U. I guess it was a different time and companies would do that sort of thing. He said he spent time with Goodyear Areo Space before being placed at Plant Two. Thinking back they probably promoted people to the level of thier competence. Working for Areospace sounds way better than fixing a Banbury Mixer. I know alot about tires for all the plant tours I got as a kid.
Man dude, that is a mind blower it looks like fun the fact that it goes so slow is what's cool you get to see everything instead of just rushing through it you get a chill and watch, excellent video MR. Mike.😅😅😅
Mike!! You're just a soild dude! I pray that good things keep happening for you. Thanks for always being so positive! Definitely appreciate you and your content!
One of the coolest videos you have made. Thanks for this. By the way, you did great by looking at your guests while also looking at the camera. It’s important to try to do both while you are talking to someone. You did a great job with that on this video. A nice balance. 👍👏
That was realy cool Mike. Thanks for taking us along! Zeppelin is actually a brand name of Airship made on a ridgid frame much larger than the blimp which has no intenal framework and shape maintained just by bags inflated with gasses
Wow. The roofs of all those houses. I've never seen so many buildings so close together. I'm so glad you got to go and experience the high-rise flight on the blimp.
Wow... You are Brave Mike....😮.... God Bless !.... Hello to your friend 80's Guy Clint.... I did subscribe 🥰.... Mike when I was a child growing up in Brooklyn,N.Y. in the 60's and 70's there were Blimps in the Sky often.... All I could think it looked like an Alien Ship... 😮.... Never went on one but, always curious but often very scared🎉
Mike, I just can’t believe what I just saw! Only on TH-cam could a person experience something like this. I grew up looking at the Goodyear blimp with the knowledge I would never get a chance to actually ride in one. How would you like to have a job as pilot (getting paid big money) being able to do this everyday. I wonder if it ever gets “boring” for the pilot - I bet not! Anyway, thank you for taking us along with you - it was truly a great video…
This was the coolest video. I've never been around a blimp or even seen it in person and I was amazed at the interior it's a beautiful ship I just can't imagine how you would pilot it actually. That was a cool ride and a very kind thing for them to do.
What an incredible experience. I grew up in LA. I have memories of watching the Goodyear blimp with my grandpa. He passed away in 2000. I’ve always wanted to ride in the blimp. Thanks for sharing the experience Mike!
That was a Great flight! I flew the Goodyear blimp Enterprises out of Pompano Beach Fl. Down the beach to Fort Lauderdale and it was amazing. This was before smartphones so i just have memories but I will never forget it. Thank you GIV!
Thanks German....I was able to see tons of places I used to live and hang at. I always wondered what the view from the Goodyear was like. Salute & Peace as always.
Seeing LA in slow motion, watching life go by; clean perspective; the view looks like a motherboard to me; drive down the 405 everyday, but this was a beautiful day; thank YOU GIV
That would freak me out! I couldn’t go on it. I would have a panic attack! Only because my mind won’t shut off the negative things that could possibly go wrong! Like flying over Los Angeles knowing someone with a gun could shoot and pop that balloon! 😩😭🤦🏼♂️ The thought of it terrifies me!😳😱
Wow nice one today GIV, great spectacular views.I have always wondered what it looks like inside. It was nice seeing you at Universal Studios the other day, from Universal Jamie
Mike what an opportunity for you! It was fascinating seeing the inside where you sat and the pilots explaining how you could open the windows. Thanks to your friend for giving you this chance.
What a great experience, Mike. So glad that you were able to fly in the Goodyear Blimp. Thanks for taking us along with you. I know that your Mom would love to go up in this blimp. She can be quite adventurous when she is feeling well. Enjoy your week and the Christmas season 🎄.

Yea I agree, 80sLIFE is a cool guy.

Because if u watch long enough u can say u saw everything he shows how many times can u see Venus or Hollywood and riding on the scooter looking for something to show nice for awhile
I remember in the late 70’s and the blimp would fly around at night with a light show on its side. So much fun running out to see it!!
