- Dani and Sherry at Second Chance Ohana join @SabsRehabs and many other furniture flippers for the Spring Fling Furniture Makeover Challenge 2022. For this Anthro Dupe, they were challenged to get out of their comfort zone and create something that looked like Spring and use Spring colors. Can they dupe an Anthropologie "Enchantment" inspired dreamy dresser with a built in desk from an old, forgotten and unused secretary?

Wow adding 4 totally different kinds of paints takes curage I would had never dared and now realize noting impossible?!
Yeah, it is a little scary at first but now it's really fun. We mostly usually use the all-in-one mineral paints which are all similar but sometimes we add smaller quantities of acrylic paint or enamel paint to just either extend the quantity or change the color a bit. So far it has worked fine.😮

So appreciate your custom color mix. I re-do furniture around my house (many that are thrist store, curbside rescues or Craiglst cheapies). I'm not planning on selling them and, who knows?, maybe I'll tire of them and wind up re-doing them. All that to say, I like not feeling enslaved by ONE product line for primer-paint-topcoat. And I also love the thrift of being able to use up drabs and drips of whatever I've collected over the years and isn't ready for hazardous waste dump!

I put glue them on before they are dry. This make them more pliable and bendable.

Looks beautiful very pretty! But in order to avoid the very long time it took to make those florals from Redisign with Prima use whats suppose to be used with those types of moldings its a whole lot easier and you would just have to pour the liquid in and in moments just remove it plus it wouldnt crack like plain clay wood.

Thank you so much, Dar! Yes we end up mix a lot of custom colors because what else do you do with leftover paint? And it is fun. This was a really easy project overall but it is a little risky because we don't know if it will sell at a good price or not...🤗🌷🌼

You did so beautiful transformation! But why did you use the paperclip for the molds? Is it strong enough for molds on furniture? I believe it's sensitive on bumps ... maybe you should have used resin so that this awesome piece lasts intact forever. Thanks so much for sharing. Good luck with the challenge.
Hi Sophie! To be honest, we used paper clay because it’s all we had seen other furniture artists use (and we already had it on hand). It wasn’t until we were finished that we started seeing people use resin for their molds. And you’re right, I bet resin is much more durable. Thankfully none of our flowers go over bumps, and only one goes over an edge. Hopefully they’ll last many many years.

Thank you, Maureen. It is not our intention to offend anyone. I guess we just imagine a parent wanting this for their little girl but we would certainly be happy for anyone to have it. We also realize that it has only been during the last 100 years or so that pink was considered a "girl" color and are happy to see more and more men embrace it with the clothes they wear (and with the furniture they own).🌷🌼🌷
