It's because the number of decent writers has gone down, combined with the fact that the entertainment industry doesn't want to pay writers what they're worth.

Kim Kardashian said she wouldn’t use privilege to get her kids into college. Yet she’ll do it to get her daughter a spot in musical theatre, which was essentially taken from kids who worked years just to get such an huge audition.
@K.C-2049 I just think think its ironic for her to say that and then put her daughter in this position. Because although she didn't buy her daughter into a spot for college, she still did the same thing of using privilege to leverage her daughter to getting a huge gig that she didn't even work for, let alone audition. And take it from kids who've done this their whole lives and actually could have benefited from the role.

i do think that the try guys did a much better job at releasing their streamer - they are still on youtube and will be putting out the same content that they always have. the streamer is only for additional content i.e. new shows. i will definitely miss eugene, even though he has been uninvolved for a long time. he felt like the most compelling member and I loved watching his journey.
The red lobster thing is wayy more complicated, worth it’s own video really

Things that happened in May I remember: Back to Black came out in the US and bombed at the box office, the Michael Jackson movie finished filming, Paul Mescal is being considered to play a Beatles member in the Beatles movie, Apple Music’s 100 Greatest Albums of All Time, Diddy beating up Cassie, Justin Bieber being a first time dad, and Baby Reindeer premieres on Netflix and creates a social media phenomenon.
Yep, I'm surprised that Baby Reindeer nor Back to Black were mentioned, though maybe they're trying to cover international news.
Baby Reindeer and Back to Black were talked about for a whole month straight, especially Baby Reindeer. I feel like the people who talked about Back to Black mostly talked about the director and the social media backlash that ensued. It also created a discussion on biopics about female celebrities and showing trauma porn and relationship woes as opposed to their talent.
Back to Black bombed in the US, but did decently internationally. As such, it’s not a flop, it turned a profit of about $15 million.
And somehow forgot the whole 2024 block out

the qualifying for the monaco gp may as well have determined who won the race. still a deserved win for charles though, him being mentioned in a video alongside twice and aespa out of all people is kinda surreal to me. not to mention said video has spinning nemo as the intro.
other stuff i remember: stray kids and lewis hamilton at the met gala since i mentioned kpop and f1, min hee jin winning against hybe (which i don't know how to feel about that just yet) and FUCK THE EBU (HAIIIIII :3)

There are so many ways that the genocide in Gaza has impacted pop culture in the past month. The met gala, digital guillotine, Hinds Hall by Macklemore, Bella Hadids dress, etc. I’ve been an MG fan for years and it’s my go-to source for pop culture news, but at this point I might need to reconsider. The silence is speaking volumes 😢

She’s never mentioned the genocide once on her channel. It makes me think that she has personal ties to Israel. I can’t see a reason to not mention it, especially since this channel doesn’t shy from speaking about politics, and what’s happening in Gaza is much bigger, and more important than that.

Meghan and Sabrina Carpenter just confirmed they albuns are coming. Camila Cabello and Lil Nas X released a song and the mv is one of my favorites from this year tbh. Katy Perry changed the visual identity of her social medias and Gaga also confirmed her new album is coming. Jojo Siwa threatens to release a new song. Also a Scooby Doo live action series was confirmed, but i think this was in April? I don't remember.

Girl, I appreciate you but I am surprised you didn't mention the rap battle between Kendrick Lamar and Drake. I only ever listened to NF who is outlier in the rap community but if this beef washed up on my shore when I don't really listen to either of them but on the course of trying to piece together what was happening and understanding it, it turned out be epic on a mass scale, you missing out on something spectacular!

What happened to originality in hollywood? Obviously there have been many original films and tv shows coming out which is fantastic, but the remakes, reboots, sequels, prequels, adaptations etc. are taking over. I feel like every recap video I watch always includes at least 3 different films coming out based on preexisting material.
This felt a little hollow when watching I'm ngl. You mentioned moments like the met gala, eurovision but failed to talk about the major protests for Palestine people were doing to counter these events and they were pretty significant considering the it ended up on the news and the protest/ anger people had towards the met gala led to the celebrity block list. I feel like if you're covering these events, you have the responsibility to talk about those moments too. This doesn't feel like a pop culture recap and more what celebs and big corp like disney have been doing up since last month.
This channel is starting to feel like a selliut. Blockout2024 was the biggest event of the month yet not even a mention
