The most durable Jordan's are the ones made with a phylon midsole. The X, XI, XII, XIII, XIV, and the XV, I believe. They can be reglued/restored without needing a donor midsole. The 1's aren't prone to crumbling per se, but they have a polyurethane wedge and an air unit on the inside. Those inner materials will crumble with time. Also, the rubber outsole on 1's can crack with age and will break around the flex groves in the outsole. A donor sole will be needed. The great thing today is that sneaker restoration has come a LOOOOOONG way since the early 2000's. There are people who can do perfect midsole swaps and reglues on OG's and retros from the early 2000's so your shoes can still be DS and not falling apart with midsole pieces in your shoe box looking like pie crust
Two pairs of my j's crumbled on me in one day. I was in school and I was wearing my french blue 12s. I was hooping, thinking they were wearable. I was wrong, because I made a sharp turn, and boom, outsole flew off. Then, I had to go get some shoes from the house. I got the chrome 6 lows I had in my closet. Got to school, went right back to the court, and boom, another sharp turn and another crumbled shoe. I was 12 at the time, so cut me some slack lmao. Just wanted to share this funny story
I got the ‘05 undefeated Dunk NLs used for this reason. Saved about 600 bucks not buying and DS pair and I can rock them. Them being worn over the last 16 years is what made them hold up and continue to be wearable for me!
Great video and excellent information. I have been collecting sneakers (Jordans and other brands) since 1984 so I can definitely relate with what you're saying. Great content and you definitely have an interesting collection. Love the Nike Air Ships in your collection - I remember copping those back in 1985 in white/red, white/navy and white/purple - rocked them in high school.
@@DNASHOWhey I’m debating on buying some true blue 3s from 2011 an they look flawless but do u think the blue will start peeling . I bought a pair in 2023 that started peeling around 3rd wear . Do u think it’s worth risking again
I just copped some Dave hite Jordan 1's (10 year old kicks), been wanting these but could not find my size with a reasonable price... i was able to cop these from Flightclub at a super reasonable price and i copped.... I will be rocking these... but hopefully i can rock them without them falling apart. lol
Wear them still brother. I rock I rock I rock fuck that it's why I do it for the feeling of it falls apart. Then I'll try to get them or restore them myself. I rock my 96 white and reds I just bought DS gingers and im wear them and if they fall apart then I'll fix them. Like you say you need to know what your buying. Wearing the shoes in the house has been the smartest thing I've done while checking and taking care of my kicks. And I've recently myself had to start to get rid of alot of my ogs it's so heart breaking lol. Great content. I am a 45 year old sneaker fan. I have realized all newer model Jordans rot quickly. My green bean jordan 5 bought in 06 tore all the way up. My superstar Adidas 03 still wearable and all together. Wear your shoes!! All my nike air baltoro sneaker boots are falling apart none of my adidas are.🤔
@@DNASHOW Its crazy I gave a homeless guy some Jordan 3s from maybe 03 he rocked them a good month and got salty because they tore up on him. I'm like dude you were dripped out for free for a month shut up. I have stories for days about shoes tearing up on me as I'm walking somewhere but again they were all nike or puma. Again great content bro. I will be subscribing right about now!
So you just say wear them to use the shoe up. Cause in end the foam will crumble? Will wearing them actually make them last longer? This term people are using is confusing me.
Understanding how rubber deteriorates thru moisture, I wonder if anyone tried putting shoes in airtight box filled with desicant gel (moisture absorbing beads)
Thanks for this. Do you think it’d be worth it to buy a brand new pair of 2013 Jordan 5 Laneys off GOAT now? In your estimation, would they be wearable?
How to stop this from happening…wear your shoes when you buy them…stop buying shit you cant afford to wear…sneakers sre going to be like pogs, beanie babies, baseball cards…they are all just being traded by the people inside. If you have six thousand dollar shoes, but you keep them in a shrine hoping to get more valuable, then you already fucked…glues and all the rubber will rot….
Going to wear my Oreo 6’s I just got near dead stock. The paint is starting to split near the front on one of them but the midsole is still strong when giving it pressure. I’m the type of person that wants to see shoes worn to the end of their life.
I just sold a guy some DS black cat 3’s, his ignorant ass wants his money back cause he thinks they’re fake cause they fell apart on him.. smh. Telling me the “black cat is supposed to be behind the tongue”. Ok. Only everybody knows it’s behind the heel tab
A nigga tried ta hit me one time a couple days after he copped some shoes like lemme give u there back n get some different ones I said bruh u think I'm foot locker or what after the money hit my pocket transaction non refundable g.o.d.
Most well 90 present of my shoes are j ordans I only wear them 1 or 2 times then I put them away for good sale them or even here and there give a pair away to make some,1,s day😉😊🤗
I just bought a 2004 Melo Jordan 2 for 150 through ebay no matter the outcome if wearable or not I had to have them I never had the chance to for 20 years old they looked great
I've been holding on my jordansm. So I have alot of them that are cracking, separating and discoloring. . Like my Chicago QFs 2s, I love them so much better than the new ones but I'm going to have to get them. And I have too many DEADSTOCK 15s. And I wasted alot of money doing the same OG thing. From here on out I just want: 2s,5s,8s,9s,10s,11s,12s,14s,15s,16s,20s
Aye DJ what's Good Bro!? Hope everything is good witcha! Real quick tho I wanted to ask you where you got that Jordan 1 Neon light in the background on the wall? I’m looking at buying Yeezy foams size 7 they released in 2014 will they be wearable? Flight club usually tells you if it’s wearable or not but idk how foams age.
i have these 2013 steel 10s i got from goat that are used. i want to wear them and actually want to walk around in them but don’t know if that’s such a good idea.
Ive had 3 retro jordans that i bought in 2013 that all fell apart after 9 years under different circumstances. My jordan 3s that were used about once per week except during the pandemic had the midsole crumble. My jordan 14 that was also heavily used did not have its midsole crumble but its upper started to fall apart and the soles hardened and lost traction. The last pair was lightly used spizikes that i was not able to use for 5 years then used once last year and the midsole just crumbled after using it once that year. Ive also had an sb dunk bought in the same year(2013) that was heavily used more than the jordans and died the same year but this was due to the rubber sole hardening and cracking while losing its traction. I dont know if this is due to the hot and humid climate i live in. Surprisingly my most durable vintage shoe is my beloved sb dunk broncos which is a 2003 model and still fully intact but due to the sole hardening and losing traction ive decided to retire last year which i purchased used in 2010 and used once a week from 2010-2020.
I need an answer to a question I purchased a pair of Green Bean 5’s deadstock and they were made in 2006 They hold up fine I bought a pair of Olive 5’s deadstock and they were made in 2006 I’m kind of scared to wear the Olives But the Green Beans hold up perfect. How?
Jordan 10 has Pylon midsole and that midsole doesn't crumble over time no matter what. Just sharing...
But toe cap seperation from glue and the bottoms can fall off like 11s
@@einstein3185 well at least it's easier and a lot more convenient to reglue than to find a donor midsole. 👍
It must’ve been meant to be I just bought some Jordan 10 NYC and this was the first comment I saw
Correct. This is why you will still see every Blue Steel 10 all with no crumbling etc and those are from ‘05
What about the Jordan 14’s? I’m thinking about buying a 2005 pair? And what can I do to make them wearable again?

Super helpful and educational video! Didn't know the difference between the different sole materials before this.
Definitely lucky we got a option to restore through really good people I’d pay money to fix every crumbling shoe
This video really helped me since my cousin just gave me his DS Jordan 3 true blues from 2011 I just really don't want them to crumble on me
In my experience with 3s this will eventually happen so either you just keep it as a collection piece or use and enjoy it until it crumbles.
