    Thank you so much. I really enjoyed your video. I just realized about a year ago that the label maker (Dymo brand) has a bar code feature. My label maker is just like yours. All you have to do is go to the bar code feature and type in your item number or price and it will generate the bar code for you.

    I have been searching for days on how to create barcodes without buying the POS for retail subscription and you solved my issue! Thank you!! I'm using the square terminal with the hub and scanner...using the website you suggested but going to the second tab and creating the 30 barcodes on one sheet, using avery labels and then printing.

    This is really helpful. My main query was whether you could still scan barcodes without having Square for Retail, which you answered in the video. You just saved me £50 a month, so thanks! Did you know, it's also possible to create your own Code 39 barcodes in your Excel sheet by downloading the Code 39 font. I had downloaded this a couple of years ago and now forget where I got it but you could probably find it on a google search. My other takeaway from your video is that a dedicated label printer is definitely worthwhile. We have been printing on the Square for Retail layouts for a full sheet at a time as we don't have a label printer, but they print 60 on a page, so if you only need one, you have to wait. It's a bit of a pain. Thanks again for giving me the right info to change my system and save money!

    • @mokapottery
      @mokapottery 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      OH, and the other thing is that if you have an Android tablet, you can plug the Voyager straight into it for scanning with Square, as that's what we do. You need a small adapter cable, called an OTG (On The Go) adapter but it's only a few pounds, so not a big deal (this info is on the Square website for connecting to Android). Hope this helps someone else.

    The barcode takes up 3 cells and then you can type the name of the soap either in the cell above or below the barcode. When you print be sure to select the cells with the barcode and the name.

      The cell size in Excel can be changed to practically any size you want. You could make the height and width of the cell slightly larger than the image of the barcode, and then you should be able to select just the one cell for printing. Thanks for the video!

    DYMO has free has free software. It allows you to select you label size, enter your SKU, and quantity of labels. It will generate the barcode and print. You can include an item description too. I think it a easier process than you have demonstrated and doesn't require downloading third party barcode software that may contain ads and viruses. I use this with Square to sell plants.

      She didn't download any software. She didn't even save the barcode... it is an online site. Looks to be opensource since it's free. And she copied and pasted in the excel file.
      Perfect for people that can't afford the dyno printer just yet. :)

      I believe I covered this in the video so I’m not sure what you’re asking. After you copy and paste your barcode in excel, you can type anything in one of the cells on top of or below the barcode, then save the excel spreadsheet. Select the 4 cells you want to print (bar code and one cell of info) and choose the dymo printer to print. Let me know what’s not working and I’ll try to help.

      You should be able to use any barcode generator and/or barcode if you will be using it for your shop only. If you’re going to wholesale your products to retail stores then you will need to purchase barcodes.

      @@orchidislandsoap7277 So for my own shop I can just use any barcode generator without license or purchase. But when I sell my product to other stores I need to purchase the barcode?

    How do the barcodes you generate in Square recognize the ones you make from this website you use to create your barcode?

    • @dianeriley6615
      @dianeriley6615  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The standard barcodes are linked to square by the sku number that you create for each item as explained in the video.

    Hello! Quick question,
    When scanning the barcode for sales, does the square system keep a record of sales?

    • @orchidislandsoap7277
      @orchidislandsoap7277 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The square system keeps great records of all your sales by item, by category, by day, or by any custom period. I don’t have the inventory system that you could get for a fee, but by scanning the barcodes, it would be feasible to do inventory by hand. Square keeps track of everything.

    Uri, put the value of the item in your Square system right after you type in your skew number. Then your barcode will be linked to the price of the item. To have it print out on your barcode label you will need to type it into excel on the line above or below your barcode.
