Im doing prelim research on doing one of these swaps with my son. Only issue is im only finding automatic neon SXT's to swap with. which could be a pita. Also looking for an SRT4 parts car lol
I had a parts car I took measurements from. After I took measurements, I drilled holes where the OEM side skirts should be. I dont remember what the measurements were. But if you have to, Jack it up, lay the side skirt down where the body lines are, crawl underneath and mark each body clip with a black or white marker. Then drill them out
I have an 05 sxt that is the same color as yours! 5 speed. I was thinking of swapping it. I have a ptgt engine, and then an r title srt4. But lately I've been thinking of keeping the srt4 as it is, fix it up further (passed state inspections) and then throw the ptgt engine in my sxt when I have it fully built lol. Whatcha think?
@@nasteynate88 well my red sxt has everything srt swapped. The guy I bought it from just didn't swap the engine. (Trans is a t350 and my ptgt engine is from 03 so that'll be fine lol) as far as my srt4 r title. You think I should keep that as is? Originally I was gonna swap to my other sxt as well. But you think keeping it an r title srt4 would be ok to do rather than swap?
It you plan to keep the R title SRT for your personal use and its already been registered ect in your name and the insurance accepts it it'll be fine. It may drop the insurance a little if you swap it all to the SXT but I have a R title RSX and it doesn't really effect much. I'd leave it. It's a true SRT, not an SRT swap ya know?
@@nasteynate88 yeah I get that. Originally the guy (matt) told me to swap to my mineral metallic gray sxt as it was nicer. However the paint is scratched and it's not in the best shape. Plus its automatic. I'd like to keep the srt original. Plus, if I keep my sxt i still have the 2.4 engine as a spare I could drop in lol. Gonna be fun. I might start posting videos of the cars on my channel soon.
@@nasteynate88 my srt4 I'm paying on, I'm getting for 3500. It has a stage 3 clutch and stage 3 big turbo. 3rd is out in it, but I can ride around without 3rd for awhile. I was trying to figure out if an r title SRT was worth more than an sxt to srt4 swap lol
It's on stock wheels right now, but I plan to grab some rota slip streams and some r888s for the front but I believe the tire size I have right now are 205/40R17 kumho low profile tires. No issues with rubbing or hitting ect
You can boost the 2.0, but there are limits. They do have an after market support for the 2.0. If you dont want to swap rather if resources are restricted or the funds ect. Id say boost the 2.0.
i turbocharged a first gen neon 2.0 SOHC many years ago using a hahn racecraft 16g turbo kit. Very fun, very fast, but very unreliable. Nothing beats a factory tuned turbo car. SRT swap it
They do have turbo manifolds for the sohc. It all depends on how much power you want. I'm not too familiar with the sohc. But I've seen people boost them. If you find an srt4 that was t-boned or rear ended ect, getting it for the right price would benefit your swap as everything second gen swaps over from srt4 to base model

They can be pretty hard to find, lol. Keep looking. They are out there. In hiding but they're out there
If you're near PA look on market place for srt4 parts. You'll find a guy named matt collier. He is the srt master and has literally every x100
y is the auto harder i just picked one up and plan on swapping too a 2.4t with a manual t350 or t850

Did the engine harness plug into the body harness, or did you have to modify it?

Sounds like a solid plan! I'd execute it as said. You would use the neon SRT intake as well as the exhaust for your SXT swap. Update us when possible!

Fenders are the same. Headlights differ from 2000 - 2002 and 2003 - 2005.

Everything including the purchase of the car, parts ect. 15k. Engine parts were bought brand new at retail price

As mentioned in one of the below comments, a factory turbo srt4 engine would better suit your needs in terms of longevity ect
You could turbo your sohc and keep it at low boost. I'd say around 8lbs. If that's what your looking for?
