This is one of the best game boy game, it's longer than most game boy game of the genre, it's have great graphics and is fun. It's can be considered to be almost if not a perfect game
Easily one the great masterpieces of the Mario franchise.
This game looks so fun. I love how hard they went on this game. They could have just thrown the regular arcade level on there and called it a day, but they went through the effort of making a bunch of brand new levels. I'm going to have to play it, it looks great.
Was literally just looking at buying this game for my Game Boy Pocket and up this beauty pops 😍
It starts out like the arcade classic, then expands into a full-blown adventure! It would later return as the "Mario Vs. Donkey Kong" series and Pauline gets more appearances in other games. The most famous, of course, is her appearance in Odyssey with her hit singles "Jump Up Superstar" and "Lead the Way".
Of course since it’s 1994 this game is, some implied this game’s DK is really Donkey King Junior from the 80’s. Not sure if this semi-canon with Donkey Kong Country and Diddy Kong was being “screen tested” to see if he’d work by being “Donkey Kong Jr. V.2”

This game is really good! It expands from the first game and adds plenty of more, making this game a very solid experience!
This game isn't just like an arcade game it now looks like an adventure
From just keeping Pauline hostage at a construction site, to chasing DK all around the globe
Still have this game, and my gameboy pocket, lol. Could never get past one of the early ship levels as a kid though. glad to see the rest of the game lol

This game is awsome I really enjoyed playing it
At first observation this game might not look much, a copy of an arcade game from long ago. But when you get into it you start realizing this is a pretty good puzzler/platformer. I enjoyed it a lot when i was a kid.
Everyone knows the original arcade, but not this underrated version. To me, that's the best version ever. I loved how Donkey Kong had the tie but is still in his original villain personality, as it was released just a few months before Donkey Kong Country. This was DK being Mario's original nemesis at its best before he got reformed since.
Fun fact: The arcade was inspired by Popeye. DK is Bruno, Mario is Popeye, and Pauline was Olive Oil.

In Donkey Kong, Mario’s on a mission to save Pauline from Donkey Kong, who was kidnapped by Cranky Kong. On a mission, Pauline was kidnapped by Donkey Kong and his son, Donkey Kong Jr.
Barbie Game Girl, Super Mario Land, Tetris, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, The New Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley, Mia Hamm Soccer Shootout, The Little Mermaid, Metroid II: Return of Samus, Donkey Kong and Disney’s Pocahontas were highly enjoyable on Game Boy Color

Donkey Kong isn’t always supposed to be we know of, it was supposed to be an adaptation of the cartoon show, Popeye the Sailor Man. Nintendo wanted to create a game that will go down in Popeye’s popularity, so they created an arcade-styled platformer where Popeye must climb construction sites (and a pie factory) to save Olive Oil from Bluto, but had to jump over barrels thrown by the villain, avoid pies, springs and living fireballs to save his love. Nintendo failed to get a license for the cartoon, so they filled in the blanks with their own characters; Popeye is replaced with a carpenter known as JumpMan, Olive Oil is replaced with a beautiful woman and JumpMan’s girlfriend, Pauline, and Bluto is replaced with an antagonistic ape known as Donkey Kong, giving the game the title of “Donkey Kong.” JumpMan is given a name of Mario, and he appeared as the villain of Donkey Kong Jr. Mario became a plumber and had a brother named Luigi, they appeared in the arcade game, Mario Bros. Nintendo created a sequel to that said game, called Super Mario Bros, where the brothers had to save Princess Toadstool from the evil King Bowser Koopa, so the princess can break the curse surrounding the Mushroom Kingdom. This became a successful franchise called Super Mario, with an animated movie starring Chris Pratt as Mario.

I think this is more like a modern mario game (for its time) than just a port of donkey kong with new levels. A bit of proof is that you play as mario and not jumpman
This version of DK is apparently 'Cranky Kong' in the modern DK games so would that make this version of Mario the father of today's Mario? or maybe it's a Big Boss - Solid Snake situation 👀
That's was Rareware's idea during DKC, not Nintendo's.
The Rare DK franchise took place in the future. Diddy Kong being added to Double Dash changed all that since Rare could no longer use him.
