Beast engine, an understatement, it is the diesel equivalent of a snort of best weed, imagine driving a King Clessie along a residential street in Oxford UK at 2,O Clock in the morning , no stove pipe or silencer(muffler) , just a short stub pipe at chassis level to set off car alarms.
Probably 3.5-4 mpg loaded , at any speed he wants, they are tough, No Complaints,, except maybe for fuel " economy" id love to have one ,get to drive one , one more time, while I'm still able to..
Cannot beat a King Clessie Cummins for sheer grunt, that got me thinking a Scammell Crusader Hybrid breakdown wagon , twin steer front axles, triple drive rear bogie to handle the K,s murderous torque, 6 speed Allison CLBT 750 semi auto box with direct acting joy stick control, like a Ferrari Dino, and a 3 speed plus overdrive brownie auxiliary box, my kinda daily driver.
@@JoeyNemetz , that is a relief , the King Clessie chucks out so much torque you have to be careful changing gear on a manual gearbox. One false change can burn out the clutch and wreck the box, finding a Fuller or Spicer 15 speed to handle the K,s torque is difficult. Even a high torque 16 speed ZF Ecosplit will find it hard to cope with a K, , the tyre wear on your drive bogie must be horrendous putting close on 800 hp thorough eight rear tyres. Did have to change the rear bogie? , a standard Rockwell SQ Series only suitable for N14,s KittyCat 3406b,s and Motown Strokers 8V92,s ..
@@JoeyNemetz good, at least you have found a clutch and gearbox combination that works, the Eaton 22918b is the box an 18 speed , I e a 15 speed with triple grandma?. Me, in order to reduce driveline shock and expensive repairs to the rear half shafts and differentials, I go for the 6 speed Allison CLBT 750 semi auto, as the torque converter cushions drive line shock. Okay lose a bit on fuel economy, but that goes out the window if the wagon is sitting in the garage awaiting expensive transmission repairs. No such thing as a free lunch, maybe 10-15% off the price.
Are you empty ? The first part of the video it pulled so easy, like it's empty, if not its a real Beast ,pulls with ease ..couldn't hear any engine strain at all , a Big cam Cummins been making a fuss trying to pull loaded
1150 cubic inches, and the thing can rev. Literally a locomotive engine...... Only thing better would be a big Allison automatic behind it. Talk about lazy trucking......no load, no mountain.....nothing would slow you down.
@bowslap this 4070b had a 350 small cam in it. I bought the kt as a 450. I then rebuilt it to 600 specs. Then this winter set it to 750 genset specs and added more fuel and air.
I've been watching this over and over just to hear 3:25.

This engine had a 6sp clbt750 behind it when I bought it. I still have it and everything else to put it behind a 19L again.

@Basil Taylor I have a tipple disc KY clutch behind a 22918B Eaton. It doesn't slip and I'm pretty confident in the Eaton

@Basil Taylor I sledpull with it so I need a transmission that holds to the end. Don't want the torque converter wasting power.

No , a Cummins N14 around 350-400 ponies, same as fitted in ERF B Series and Foden S 104-106,s.

No it was a empty trailer. It doesn't pull much different if your loaded or empty.

QSK cummins. Also 19 liters but electric. They are used in trains but have seen and heard of a few being transplanted into trucks
