Back in NZ we had a 13'6" with a Ford 3l V6 and single stage Hamilton jet from the 1960's, fun little boat. Later from the 1980's we had a 18 foot with a 351 Ford V8 and a 3 stage HJ, it had an impellor, fixed vanes, impellor, fixed vanes, impellor, fixed vanes. It was a long unit extending from the stern, but could it go, turn and stop. I think it was a series 733, meaning a 7 inch nozzle and 3 impellor stages. As a teen I liked to drive it up onto the trailer, was so easy to load and off load. Next was a 21' with the same engine with a single stage HJ but with a bigger output nozzle. I think it was a 1031 series, 10 inch nozzle and a single impellor. It had more thrust at a slower speed than the 3 stage unit. The equivalent of using a big slow speed propeller versus a smaller higher speed one. It was developed originally back in the 1950's by a farmer in the outback of NZ who wanted a drive that could be used on shallow rivers with stony bottoms, sometimes only 6 inches of water.

I didn’t notice any mechanism for unclogging the water inlet of small stones, weeds etc that could impede the impeller blades
Some use a special rake that can slide over the inlet vanes, others used back flushing so must have a method of reversing the impellor.
Like to ask howmuch it will cost to put this sistem an a 34 food long using two cat 3208 engine 210 hp non turbo diesell
