  • This is a mini camping wood-burning stove with an additional rear turbulence supply. This another camping wood stove I made without welding. Stainless steel gastronorm pan turned into stylish, steampunk style wood stove for hot tent. You can make a stove without welding. Let's do it!
    Hello friend, I hope you enjoyed this. If you liked, hit the like.

    i had a 13" blues steel air tight wood stove in my VW van back in the eighties when I was taking a course in the middle of winter. No window , one air entry point , and a damper . My van was home for 8 months and never a cool night . So a window is nice but not a necessity, all those air entry points look like a bit of overkill but nice to look at and always nice to have stainless as it out lasts plain thin gauge steel.
    I noticed that there are times at the local scrap dealer ( price per pound, not per piece ) when these pans come in and with a cleanup they are ready to be used. I need something a bit smaller for the Toyota van now! Functional warmth not necessarily cooking.

    I've seen you "pre-heat" your stoves in a few of your videos. Is this to prevent warping of the metal, and/or breaking of the glass?

    • @campingtogethercraft
      @campingtogethercraft  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      This preheating (the inside of the stove, stovepipe) helps the smoke escape and prevents the smoke from leaking out of the stove when starting a fire. And by removing the moisture from the heat-resistant glass window, it can reduce dust soot sticking. :D

    You literally built a more expensive fancy Weber go anywhere grill, but as a stove, with the rotisserie height extender built in.
    This is not a knock on the stove btw. It's just further proof there is not much to improve on with a go anywhere grill designed regarding airflow. It should come from the bottom-sides evenly. What I mean is the the air should be distributed around the perimeter but under the wood grate as you've done nally realized with this 3rd attempt. The other designs were too limited by air intake being too little and coming from only one end. If you look at your stove it's literally a taller go anywhere grill but as a stove.
    As a finally quality touch I would line all the gaps and washers with felt for grills. Like the felt used around a green egg to seal the lid. I would make felt washers for the stands and line the pan rims with it also. This would allow you to sinch it down better and it the nuts would be less likely to back off over time.
