  • For a long time, people were using the strong labor market as an excuse of why this is not a recession, and the economy is in great shape. However, the amount of job openings is dropping in every state across America. Meanwhile, the unemployment is slowly ticking up. Leading us right into the next recession.

Funny, that people think because smart phones were invented that we have made so much progress in society. But instead people are more discriminatory towards older people, and expect people to work and never be able to retire. It's sick. Society is sick and we are so divided that things will only get worse.

There is also something to be said for acknowledging when you are miserable in a dead-end job that isn't covering your expenses and planning your next move BEFORE shtf. I just got offered a job paying way more than my current role, that checks off all the right boxes for my profession, and can't wait to get started! Lots of jobs involving skilled professions are hard to fill out here in Florida, so people in skilled professions should definitely look for better opportunities if the writing's on the wall in your current job because it is an employee's market out there. I am moving out of working in Pharma, and they are also finding challenges in getting people with the right skill sets and/or ability to effectively train into their roles. Don't choose to stay miserable in an economic downturn if you have options.👍

It's called the enshitification of America. Despite the media retroactively acting like 2007 was a horrible bubble, houses were priced normally here in NE, for example. Lots of cheap restaurants then. Cheap used cars even compared to salaries then. More third spaces because coffee shops could afford to operate. So even when I was unemployed in 2009, it wasn't that bad. But now? Make 114K and there is a constant state of dread worse than 2008. At least I still had hope of better days post 2008. But now? I'm extreme budgeting and not doing anything and still down to $3000 every pay day (which is the minimum I keep in there so that's like going to $0.00 for other people). And I am always like, what the heck did I do to get to zero? It's almost a combination of expenses that used to be small but now aren't - power bill, medical bill, dental thing, car repair, etc. Never a vacation or me going to a fancy restaurant. Or restaurant

The people in the fed "guesstimate" 80 jobs being created per business creation. This is their policy. They then revise this number downwards when they look into the companies. Despite this, we lost 2.9 million jobs under Dementia Trump and we gained north of 15 million jobs under Dementia Biden. Chips Act + the $7,500 tax rebate for buying electric - ish vehicles built in America are two of the significant job creating policies under A foot in the Grave Biden.

We have companies posting fake jobs in order to keep a stack of resumes handy for when people quit, while treating workers badly enough to cause that to happen, and workers, meanwhile, applying to a ton of listings while employed in case they need to jump ship under duress, or to keep backup options open in case of surprise layoff. This is the labor version of everybody playing the field.

People need to wake up and stop blaming themselves for not being able to find jobs they should find out the source of the problem! Policies that’s implemented for hiring is almost against anyone with experience or talent therefore as you see standards are going way down! I know people who do not pass Diversity, Equity and Inclusion even though they have talent or companies need bilingual employees or everyone bringing in their cousins to work. Some recruiters are lying too and just want your information and video for meta data. I have seen it all happen to people I know you can read it on Reddit people are desperate it’s evil to say there is jobs but no one wants it.

Applicants 'ghosting' potential employers is a new phenomenon caused by the layoffs during the pandemic. People came to realize that companies don't care, and will jettison you at the first opportunity. Besides, it's reciprocal behavior, if you apply for a job, go on an interview, and they choose someone else, do you think that employer even bothers to call any of the unsuccessful applicants and tell them? Companies have 'ghosted' job applicants for decades, why should employers expect better treatment from job seekers? Employers are now reaping what they sowed.

I agree but some would argue that back in 2021 during the great resignation employees had more options and have a better chance of getting hired. (Don't forget if you didnt get the jab you couldnt get hired) Now pendulum has swung back towards the employers... even job seekers with experience and skills still having a tough time getting hired.
Say what you want about gen z and some millenials but most of us value good management, decent PTO versus being a overworked slave to the company or business. I think its a dual edge sword you obviously need a job to survive... but most are willing to give some employers a taste of their own medicine and thats to the boomers, and some gen x leadership.
P.S. im a millenial and i do work hard, and barely call out of work but bc of my stance on certain job demands i feel most employers dont like that. I do everything i need to do but i will not slave myself and be talked down to anymore. You treat people with respect and give them a chance who knows youll have a decent staff.

Several years ago I was looking for another position within the teaching profession and I was in my mid 40s then and I couldn’t get hired for almost 3 years with several credentials. It’s called AGEISM. also, the closest one gets to retirement the higher. The chance of companies going to try to get rid of them because they don’t want them to get their pension. We all need to start understanding that very clearly.

I live in the Bakken region of North Dakota (oilfield country) in a town of 30 people. Bought my first house for $45k 4 years ago. Now, a house similar to mine (its 1 acre, I have 6 acres), on the same block just sold last week for $135k. Houses in Williston average $500k, so yes, people are willing to purchase affordable houses "in the middle of nowhere". But our wages are CRAZY high and everyone is hiring.

@adampeters632 Oh no, tons of admin and office jobs as well. But, it's pretty hard to get something really desirable unless you're here first. People applying from out of state have a hard time breaking into the market. It's a very insular community in some aspects, and finding housing is still hard unless you have plenty of disposable income (or a 5th wheel camper TBH). I've been here for a bit over 10 years and will never leave. The high income and low cost of living can't be found anywhere else IMHO.

If all you have is a degree then what will you need? You'll need to learn the job and have someone show you how to do it. Because I GUARANTEE that their degree is in something completely unrelated. WHY can you not just take a chance on someone with a HS diploma and give them the same direction? The degree to me is so RIDICULOUSLY overrated. And you suffer because of your requirements. A lot of companies are actually getting rid of college requirements for jobs now. Its a trend that going to be the norm in a few more years. Its all about experience. Problem is that its very difficult for younger people to get that experience. Companies dont want to take the time/resources to train on the job anymore. Or companies don't want to hire anyone with decades of experience because they cost too much to employ. Basically if you have a full time job right now count your blessings because anyone too young or too old are struggling bad.

My current position pays less than it should, based on our companies pay scale. My supervisor is dismissive of my accomplishments and requests for a promotion or pay increase (with supported documentation), and is a huge part of the problem.
I also have a masters degree in education and various applicable and non-applicable certifications. I see the writing on the wall with my ineffectual and hostile supervisor. So, I’ve been sending out resumes and submitting applications for the last eight months.
I’ve gone on six interviews. Two of those I made it to the final round. Didn’t get either of the positions. I have NEVER seen the job market, nor every sector of economy, in such an awful state.

I think people can't afford the jobs...where I am is rural and if the pay is 30k with the high cost of rent and gas, car insurance, to get to the job, and then all other costs of necessities, you can't afford the job. We have 2 openings where I work, and four interviewed people were offered the jobs and they turned it down...also the town is a tourist town where tourists pay 1k plus per week rent and some locals camp out and rent out their houses all summer. So if a worker has a job in the town, they have to drive from outside the high rent tourist area about a half hour, and still that far rent is high but not 1k per week. On the flip side, I applied to a job with much higher pay, and played phone tag with the interviewer only to find out the pay was way lower than advertised so not only was it a waste of my time, but I gained a mistrust of the company. I think the incentive to work was lost. The American Dream seems unreachable, and we see our government giving all our hard work away to non citizens; it is theft by our government, and people's incentive is crushed. Thank you for your videos.
