      The Weavers of Eternity Paracord Tutorials, where do you get your microcord?

    Awesome tutorial! I noticed you were having a little trouble getting under the strands while weaving, so here's my two cents. Whenever I do a weave like this, I put beads on each nail of my jig to hold the standing strands up off the surface. It doesn't matter what type of beads you use, they just have to provide a gap of at least 1/4 inch.

    I do a bit of weaving and have made a few looms. You don’t need to offset the nails , just use an even number of nails at each end. The end to end around the nails is called the warp. The length of cord ( or string or torn rags for that matter) is 2 times the number of nails x the length of one side of the warp. The length of material you need for the weave depends on the thickness of the material you are using and how tight you weave it but will be roughly the length x width of your loom divided by the thickness of your cord . Eg For the pouch shown it would be roughly 220mmx90mm = 19800/ .65= 30462mm =3.05 metres or 10ft.

    Thanks! I adapted this to make a "Trauma Wallet" big enough to hold a NAR Hyfin Chest Seal. Instead of making a flap for a closure, I doubled the pocket on both sides for storage so I could fit other trauma-kit items.

    This is great, Tim! When I saw the card pouch tutorial, I tried to use the method in that video to make a phone pouch. My first attempt ended up being too small, because I did not leave enough extra space. The second was too big because I overcompensated. This method will allow me to make the pouch I want! Thank you!

    What do you do with the paracord guts when you remove them?

  • @christophercronkhite5694
    @christophercronkhite5694 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    For the issue of maki the ends cleaner, you could use a couple pieces of small metal rod, or maybe just pieces of wire coat hanger. You can still use the nails as guides and to hold the rod, but have the rods on the outsides of the nails and loop the cord around the rod. Once you get to the end you can just pull the rod out and then run the cord through. Or, if you have a couple lacing needles that are long enough, you could use those as the rods, then you just attach the cord and pull through.

  • @MrAsingh1989
    @MrAsingh1989 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    You should consider using a crochet hook for some of the techniques such as straightening the loops and pulling the cord when it is difficult to pass the cord through a loop

    I do this without tools or a loom... I just do it with flax (harakeke as it's known in Aotearoa New Zealand) as a kid. it's a lot of fun though id promote using flax instead of Paracord 😂 just for the abundance & natural aspect. great video dude 💚

  • @MarshalltheWarlock

    about those edges: you need a horizontal bar instead of a bunch of vertical finishing nails in your set up.
    you'll forfeit the controlled spacing that the finishing nails provide... but if you're using flattened cord, then the spacing will come naturally anyways.

    If the width of the rectangle as your template is 3.5 inches wide, then the spacing for the nails from center out has to be more than a quarter inch apart for equal spacing right?

    • @TheWeaversofEternity
      @TheWeaversofEternity  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Off setting the nails simply makes the pattern a bit easier to weave. I think offsetting by half a centimeter or so would be enough.

    • @TheWeaversofEternity
      @TheWeaversofEternity  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Grant! And no, it doesn't necessarily need to be an elastic loop, an elastic loop might just work a bit better. If you make the loop just big enough to fit the diamond knot through, it should work fine.

    I’m rather experienced with weaving paracord myself and I just do not understand why you would gut the paracord and then run it through a hair straightener? It just seems like a poser would carry around non functional paracord? The whole point of carrying woven paracord with you is to be prepared for survival situations. Weaving this survival tool allows one to conveniently carry a large amount of it.

    • @TheWeaversofEternity
      @TheWeaversofEternity  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I get what you're saying about keeping the paracord functional, but I personally think that not all paracord crafts need to be "functional" or for "survival situations". In this case, the paracord is just a material that can be made into various forms for different projects and crafts. This coin pouch is simply a coin pouch. It's not meant to be taken apart for emergency cord. In fact it would be really inconvenient and time consuming to take apart for emergency cord. Also, gutting the cord and flattening it makes it more suitable for a craft like this. An ungutted paracord coin pouch would be bulky and not very flexible. If I wanted to carry functional cord for emergencies, it would be in the form of a quick deploy bracelet or key chain. Just my perspective on projects like this.

  • @scottroy6195
