I should add the ram rod initially was cast in white metal like the bayonet but was so fragile, hence the wire rod. There should be a sheet explaining the mushroom on the end is all that needs adding and I advise cutting a sliver of stretched sprue just as it tapers, or alternative as modeller prefers. It’s the line between longevity of a finished piece and what can be cast. The rod will definitely last longer if transporting than a white metal cast.
