Yet freaking no one of the mainstream people talks about this. Ridiculous. I can totally relate to your thoughts abt the chemical imbalances, probably created by grinding too much.
I am happy to show the darker sides of the game. I "beat the game" of poker by any ones metrics, but I didn't come out the other side without my scars.
@@playitsmartpoker except the only metric I have been forced to accept, is that I am going to get rundown 50x a day, 20 of those 1 or 2 outers, get dealt 20 coolers a day, and miss 30x 15 outers per day... 300K hands nothing cjanges. EVERY player, at micros, has a win history advantage on me like 60-40, 65-35 EVERY player. How is that real, random cards??? It's not. And I still have a positve ev!! But I don't make money, I'm depositing constantly. I have started contacting lawyers because I don't see how anyone looking at my history could conclude that the game is random. It's just a slot machine. It's really obvious. Really, really obvious. I am being cheated But if that is not technically true, it means RNGs are bunk, OR somewhere in the paperwork it says that it is a digital game, and should not be taken as a real poker game with a random deck of cards. It is ridiculous. I watch all this content, improve my game more and more, and when that 50th run down drops, I'm just like, what is the point. 'right bet size', 'take his line', 'blah blah blah'... because what does it matter when you continuously get what you want, but the river takes it away, or villain yet again has a flush the same time you do, aces when you have kings, over and over and over..... how am I supposed to play that, how is anyone? It just seems so ridiculous. I'm brought to tears if I had them, but I don't, and it just feels like the most helpless pit of misery that is not supposed to have a way out, and I am a fool for thinking otherwise. Sorry to dump on you. I am broken, lol. Relatively, I actually am not losing any amount that is stress worthy, but I'm not concerned with the money, that's why I play small. But if I can't beat 10NL or 25NL why would I move up, obv. But I really feel broken as a player. Idk what to do. If I stop, it seems there is no reason to ever come back, so I'd be stopping permanently, which is depriving my life for what for criminals Then I have to live with that, and seeing that there is a whole world there, so I must be insane. As an ex-poker pro from China, i really want to thank you on how your content had educated and inspired me. I am now mainly away from poker and had pursuit another career which allows me to be well-off both financially and enjoy the flexibility of living around my own scheduel(for the most part) and i enjoy life a lot more away from the felt. Still, the poker passion in me drives me to learn constantly even away from the table, and this has been one of the most valuable channels ive stumbled upon.

6:36 How do you define a winning 50k hand sample? The usual definition would be pre-rakeback, but with ggpoker's huge rake on micros, I'm not sure this is possible on reg tables. I've increased my bankroll from $600 to $1300 by playing rush and cash NL10 (it has a lower rake but players are better than on reg tables) but with a NEGATIVE win rate postrake pre-rakeback. My concern is that I'm still not good enough to move up and I'm curious: What's your suggestion for a good metric of going up in stakes? Still wr before rakeback?
You want to be winning pre rakeback. If you are not winning pre rakeback you are forced to put in tons of volume and it really stunts your growth because it becomes more about "how many hands can I play this month?" instead of how high quality of hands can I play
@ Thanks mate, so I’ll focus on studying and playing quality sessions, and analyze hands after as you suggested. Actually, since most people cannot have a win rate at micros (by definition most people are losing post rake back…) I wish that the micros would get some more love by you lol. Like, currently it’s 5 minutes of advice out of 90 mins ;)
Your advice for micro-stakes players was to focus on learning new concepts, but How do I go about learning new poker concepts in a structured way? (there's a similar question in the discord server, but it seems like you're more active here and anyways more people here to view the answer).
2nl - 10nl just consume all free youtube content from good players. 25nl+ I would honestly recommend trying 1 of my academies. You get 8 poker high level poker concepts broken down in structured way that is consumable for all levels. You might also want to buy a micro stakes course from someone who does that depending on where you game is at.

I still love the game and I love to play poker. I will likely play some high stakes poker down the road, its just not in my immediate future/ current plans.

Worst downswing I had was probably 35 ish buy in before rake back in cash games. I never lost a massive percentage of my roll because I always liked to play over rolled for a stake so I moved up with many buy ins. Playing time depends on for what time period. I did 12 hours a day 7 days a week for 4 years when I was young lol. I have also had lots of success just playing 3 hours a day at other points in my career.
You mentioned DeucesCracked. Your exploitative highly range aware style reminds me of Grindcore from DC back then. He was a guest coach for two seasons, did The Thin Red Line and The Thin Red Grind. His content was also way ahead of the curve back then.
The stuff on understanding how to make and manage money are light years different, ive made and lost tens of millions in my life and it has taking me 4 times going broke to understand that investing at least 20% of your income in your future is a most for every human. Now the stuff about chemical makeup in our body due to poker or any high risk behavior is so difficult to learn from. If anyone can take anything from this video its those 2 things. Im still a young man but if i had my shit together at 23, my first million, 29 my second cycle of zero to million and my 4th time in my late 30s, i would be in the top 1% of 1% by now. But i am never one to not get up and i have learned everything happens for a reason and purpose that serve me. Perhaps i have alot i can pay forward to the next gen.
It's actually kind of nuts if you think about that that in poker I don't think I have ever seen a single player ever talk about how to keep the money they have made from poker. I am not talking about some complicated financial strategy but I mean literally I have never ever heard anyone say anything at all regarding what you can do if you do manage to have a high win rate etc. Hard lessons you learned but they will help you in the long run.
@playitsmartpoker We go to school and learn to bake a cake or build a chair or who discovered the great lakes but not one discussion on financial literacy. And most of our parents all have such a negative relationship with money ie money is the root of all evil etc. Hard lessons indeed. Great videos btw
