You guys are cute your inspiring me. The creek sounds beautiful. Earth homes or Straw bale homes are cheap and stay warm because the walls are thick. Alaskans build saunas too and greenhouses. Little bridges would be nice so you can walk over the stream. Put private property signs up too.
I always overthink things especially when I'm excited about an idea for a project. Always good to get the lay of the land in all seasons before building anything. Were my Son wanted to put a cabin on our land, we found out later that the area he wanted, floods when we have winter thaw. Thank goodness we waited! Beautiful place you have. Hey, Loui I expected to hear you squeal about the snow! Be who you are, it’s cool. I’ve been away from the snow for over 30 years, but my last memory was being in the Bronx on the Grand Concourse. There was a big snow and the streets were closed down. Everybody, adults, kids and the elderly, were outside having snowball fights and such. Fun!!! ENJOY!!!
Happy to see that bear spray! I practice drawing mine from its holster on my belt (without spraying). If it passes its due date, one can use it to practice, including spraying. I also wear a bell and keep a whistle on my keys, which can be worn around ones neck. All worth the peace of mind. You ladies ROCK!!!!👍😎🇨🇦🐾🐾🧦🧦🔥

It has a tendency to get tore up an blown down . It's called select cut an it's good for younger timber as long as you don't damage it cutting old timber down. An your right if you clear a spot it changes concept of wind an weather damage you get. So select the cut an flag or mark the ones you want cut.

well you have to cut some trees down in order to mill it. also to build your tree houses i would think. i would just get options from professionals on what trees are ok to get rid of, like dead ones and stuff.
Seeing the layout and how steep it is id dig into the hill for a home cause foundation work alone is going to be insane. Think of a hobbit style home from lord of the rings. And a tree cabin there won't work in winter due to 90 mph winds coming from the Canadian rockies.
As for tents, I've heard that Arctic Oven tents are the best for subzero temps in Alaska. Check out the channels like Outdoor Boys, Simple Living Alaska, and Far North Bushcraft who show different aspects of living up here.
