I can seriously appreciate the effort Spin Master made to make the Bakugan Ultras more spherical in shape, ESPECIALLY with Dragonoid! My god, that old design killed me.
19:55 Battle gear this time around still holds a purpose in game. Battle gear come with there own cards, and when played, the gear will give the bakugan in play a boost in B Power, Attack power, or other effects. Yes the actual toys don't serve a purpose, but if you have it and it's card, you can attach it when you play it's card.
They didn't include the correct cards because either they don't exist or they have an effect that needs translation. Armored Alliance toys are not going to come with any card that needs translations so that they can arrive faster in other countries. That's also why non of the new CCs have any effect. There's going to be a way to get "true" CCs that have effects, but we don't know how that's going to happen.
@@Kohdok I honestly don't know why they didn't do that or just altered those cards because aurelus only has 1 gear card and that card has an effect. What they did with it was getting rid of the effect and making it cheaper by 2 points of energy.
That's why the pegatrix card is vanilla and doesn't have its effect, but that isn't why the gear is different. It was to ease the idea that people were going to need to pay for a bunch of extra plastic to remain competitive.
@@haosmagnaingram6992 Solution: Put the regular card in normal boosters, but make the pack-in cards all blinged out. If people wanna bling their decks, they can buy extras.
The reasons that the bakugear cards don’t match the one in the packs is because they want to push that the cards and bakugear toys are completely unrelated
That just doubles down on the biggest problem I've had with this series in that it does nothing to motivate toy buyers into becoming game players the way the original did so well.
@@ZeeBeeZB My general fear with that is that at this rate, the card game will wither and be abandoned by SM, at which point the toy aspect will get really mushy and unstructured and wither as well.
@@swrcery I don't understand this idea of "separating the toys from the cards" making any sense when the whole point of the game is the integration of the two. The combination of toys and cards is what drew people to the original Bakugan. What drove them away was increasing prices and excessive, poorly-designed add-ons. People didn't mind the add-ons when they were small, well-designed and properly integrated. It was when they started peddling massive action figures as vital game components and the support pieces outpopulating the actual Bakugan that the problems began. My stance on not properly combining the two is that if they spiral off in different directions, they will wither on their own. The Card Game has dropped in popularity versus the toys, which might get it canned by SM. And if that happens, the toys will get mushy and structureless, then collapse as well. I saw something similar happen with Toys to Life. People were like "What if we made the toys optional?". The effect: Nobody bought the toys anymore. Also, don't Yugioh and Pokemon and all of them all put out special products designed to sell based on the few competitively viable cards within them? Like the tins? And the boxsets? And even the structure decks to an extent? Heck, in Japan, certain games with tie-in shows have Bluray sets with exclusive cards and decks to entice people to buy them. Packing good cards in with product is actually massively successful as it does give people a clear way to obtain some good cards for the game without having to blindly open boosters, they just have to drop a little more cash up front for said guarantee. Even people who just collect the cards benefit from these. Bakugan has no future by separating the two. It is perfectly possible to make products which cater to both crowds equally. The new Carrying Case was clearly designed to appeal to both crowds by allowing more card storage and permitting sleeves, but which can also be used to carry more toys. I guarantee as many card players will buy them as toy buyers. Making toy sets which include good cards that might be difficult to find in booster packs would work just like how other games make them. Heck, my dream product is a theme booster which comes with a core Bakugan and FIFTEEN (non-random) cards. Buy three and you've got a deck piecemeal. Also, I have no idea what first encounter you had with a card game, but if the people at your local league are so serious and stiff that they don't give new players a helping hand at learning and playing the game, then that's just a toxic environment for gaming in general. At the leagues I participate in, if somebody who's never played shows up with a couple of good cards and wants to play, We'd try to fish up some useful support cards to try to get them started. I built a whole deck from the ground up at the overnight section of an anime convention like this one time, and these days I pay the favor forward by bringing my excessive spare cards to give away to new players. Bakugan is that sort of game.
Kohdok: So i have a "disease" where I can see both sides and agree with them both on situations like this. I would be very happy either way. My argument for connecting card and you is similar to yours, although because of the way Bakugan pro works where the cards go into a shuffled deck versus being a reference card it makes more tedious to require the toys. And my argument against you is especially for me who travels 2 hours from where I am in the center in terms of east and west on long island to get to queens to meet up with the likes of The Detective and others local and since that travel like me, I don't want anything more than the three Bakugan on my pocket and a deck box to travel, now I know if I bring my binder I put it in a backpack so I could put the gear toys in there but I'm going to be honest, carrying a backpack to queens and having to watch it is really not worth it, id rather one of those fuel portfolios that Konami makes, a small binder with just some trades. Again I see and agree with both sides, and while impossible to completely satisfy every argument, I'm sure there's a happy medium somewhere. Thank you for being as passionate about this game I love as I am! Its good to see the community actually carrying and speaking their mind! BAKUGAN BRAWL!!!
I'm getting really heavy legacy vibes from the new drago- I could be wrong but in the same way neo dragonoid became the "definitive" Drago for the series, I can totally see the same for this AA Drago.
Hyper Dragonoid Ultra is the closest we've gotten to an old series Drago so far. The body of that with AA's head and arms would look even more like later dragonoids from season 3 and 4.
I've been SUPER conflicted when hearing Armored Alliance news. The new sculpts and designs are AWESOME, really relieved to hear they're easier to close - but I worry about the actual *game* part of it. With newly designed cores, and whatever's going on with the effects not being printed on cards, it almost seems like this is a Bakugan 2.0 similar to what X-Wing did. In which case I start to worry that my old collection will be rendered obsolete, or if they'll be migrated somehow. And will the bakugear end up becoming *too much* like they were in the old days? I hope not.. we'll have to wait and see I suppose.
I hope they distribute a lot of wave 1 for this. Having all of the popular bakugan in one wave is nice, but it means almost $100 spent at once to get them instead of spread out over 3-5 months, which will be hard for younger fans.
They did mention during the sneak peek that they aren't opposed to players bringing the Baku-Gear to events to use in conjunction with the figures themselves. As for the Baku-Gear cards themselves, they work very similar to Auras in MTG. I don't believe that they have to match the attribute of the Bakugan to equip, but don't quote me on that.
@@pupintheturdiii Baku-Gear cards are permanents that attach to your Bakugan when you play them. They still fall under the constraints that the attribute of the card must match one of the attributes of the Bakugan in your squad, and you can only have one Baku-Gear card eqipped to a Bakugan at a time. However, the attribute of the card doesn't have to match the Bakugan they're attached to.
