    Paid a shop $3,000 for a brake booster replacement and they couldn’t even do me the courtesy of resetting the light. I’m very thankful for TH-camrs like you who go out of their way to help strangers.

      I just paid a shop 2800 for bilsteins all around and power steering rack and end up with the same thing. It's the lack of attention to detail that gets me.

    I went to a dealership in Spokane, WA to have this same issue checked after a cheap set of chains destroyed the ABS wire harness, (Got that fixed at a non dealership garage, but they couldn't figure out the traction system error, I'm gonna show them your video). Dealership wanted to charge me $800 in parts and between $200 & 150 in labor.....
    Watched your video, made my tool, (almost the same as yours) and the problem was solved. Total cost 12 minutes 21 seconds watching your video, 15 inches of old 14/2 solid wire, another 90 seconds to go through the procedure, 15 minutes cursing the dealership under my breath.........
    Thanks much for putting this out there for us! You have probably saved so many people so much money and time!

    Thank you bullseye. I had TRC Off, VSC, Brake Light and ABS lights turned ON after i'd put overload onto my 2001 model toyota crown, a couple of days ago on a vacation. I've no idea but known that was an error due to bad road and heavy load by sensors of the computer because there were no problem driving a long way. So, i searched on internet and found your video and followed the instruction, finally, hooray........all the error lights were gone. Thanks again, brother. God Bless You Onward!!

      The video is very well done and has helped many people. However it didn't work for my 05 4runner SR5, V6. Front wheel bearing was recently changed and I have a DTC for fuel tank pressure sensor. I replaced a bad pigtail for the sensor and tried to clear the code. It didn't clear and VSC and traction control as well as CEL are all lit. What next ? Bad pressure sensor or ECU ?

    Thanks so much for this post and video. I had this annoying problem in my 2003 4Runner. Initially the VSC TRAC and Service Engine Check light remained on. After diagnosing with an ODB reader, we determined I had a bad Oxygen sensor which we swapped out. After the swap, the check engine light went out, but the VSC TRAC lights remained on. I used this video to remove the error and it worked like a charm. This save me about $500 in maintenance had I taken it to the dealer.

    I cannot tell you how grateful I am for this very instructive video! I had my 2003 4Runner parked on a slight hill and the battery slowly went dead because I left a door open and the radio on with the key in the wrong position (on purpose while doing some work outdoors). The alarm started going off and kept going constantly with the ignition on. In addition, my Brake, VSC Trac, Trac Off and ABS lights were on. Worst of all, my brakes would barely stop the vehicle when moving forward. I charged the battery fully, checked all fuses and made sure the brake fluid was at the right level. All looked good but I still had the alarm and the dash lights on. I was thinking I’d have to get it towed to a mechanic because of it stopping improperly and I didn’t feel safe. I started looking online and I ran across one guy with a similar sounding problem and the same vehicle... a mechanic charged the poor guy $3000 to replace a module that did not resolve his problem! Yikes! After hearing that I started freaking out, picturing costs spiraling out of control. Then I ran across your video and watched it. Your explanation was straight forward but I watched it about 3 times to make sure I got it right. I followed the steps as described and it worked out beautifully! No lights or alarm and the brakes are functioning perfectly again. Whew! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

      @@tonys.6482 I was also having some brake problems. Just felt like they were blocks of wood. I had tried to use a scan tool to purge the actuators and bleed the brakes. After doing that the VSC/TCS lights were on and brakes the same. Did this, lights off and brakes seem a lot better. Before pedal was almost to floor, now I get pressure much higher up. I think some other problems going on but way better feel than before.

I run the torque app and usually power it up before I start driving but yesterday, I powered it up while I was driving and noticed the vsc and abs lights going off. My ‘03 has vsc, trac, and abs lights lit. Also can’t shift into drive even when stepping on the brake. All this happened after car wouldn’t start and I got a jumpstart. Gonna give this a try! Great video.

      Jake Kay, you also may want to make sure you didn’t blow a fuse for your shifter. Some cars have them other don’t.
      There is also a little plastic piece that you can pop out near the shifter in order to manually release a sensor that will prevent the car from going into gear.

    Happy Saint Patty's to you!
    These darn lights have been on for nearly a year, watched your video and drank some Guinness and it's a done deal. I didn't realize how much they were bugging me. It's like popping a zit. So good.
    Let me articulate it better: THANK YOU 4runner brother. I'll drink one for you tonight.

      Henry Duke hope that’s what my problem is. I tried this and it worked but the lights came right back on a few seconds after starting the engine again. Check engine light is also on and it gives a code P0420.

    Outstanding this worked on my 2006 toyota 4runner. I Took off gas cap rescrew on until it clicks once, then, disconnect positive battery cable for 30-60 seconds. Reattached battery cable and all codes were gone. I just had to reprogram my radio channels.

    Here's a summary of an issue with my 2004 4runner: I had a TPMS light on because my spare was leaking air so I had to pump air in it every two months or so. One day, I attempted to upgrade corner bulbs in my headlights with LEDs. Immediately got a check engine light and the VSC warning lights came on. I changed the lights back to standard bulbs. The VCS lights went away but the check engine light stayed on and my TPMS light came on even though my tire pressure was fine all around. Ran a scan and the code for bank 2 sensor 1 O2 sensor came up. I tried clearing codes and disconnecting the battery multiple times but the lights came back and the code remained. I finally bit the bullet and bought two O2 sensors and replaced them on bank 2. To my surprise, there was transmission fluid in the sensor 1 connector (there's apparently a rare issue with a transmission pressure valve that causes a wicking effect - there's literature about it out there). After replacing the 02 sensors, my check engine light and my VSC lights were gone but my tpms light was still on. At this point, I figured the tpms sensors needed to be checked since the car is 14 years old. Took it to JustTires and they confirmed two tpms sensors were bad (passenger front and spare). They replaced them but couldn't get the tpms light to go away. They didn't charge me for labor. I took the car to Atlantic Tire and they manually entered the Tpms IDs into the CPU through OBDII and the tpms light went away. However, the VSC lights came on as soon as I started to drive. I did this zero point calibration and I have no lights on. Hope it stays this way. It's been like 8 months of this. I'm convinced the $4 LED lights did something to throw things off... pain in the neck.. thanks for posting this video.

    If your check engine light AND VSC/TRAC OFF lights are displayed, check your gas cap. Often it is a seal issue and you need to purchase a new cap (most seem to prefer an OEM original cap).. They are around $40 bucks. Clean out the gas cap area and cap, then disconnect your negative cable and give it a try.

    • @bullseyenate231
      @bullseyenate231  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, also some Toyota dealerships will clear the code for free if you purchase the gas cap from them. They are about 60 dollars from them.

    • @bullseyenate231
      @bullseyenate231  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chuckchali I would make sure the cap is on the good and clicks then clear the code. If the problem continues to persist, yes get another gas cap.

    I have an 07 SR5 with 215,000 miles and the VSC TRAC and engine light came on while I was driving. No inclines, no weird maneuvers. The air conditioning blew harder and my vehicle shook a bit. The shaking and the air force came down but of course scared me a bit. Will this method of zero pointing at terminals 4 and 14 work on an 2007? Also, the VSC OFF light is not on. Just the picture and the VSC TRAC, if that makes a difference.
