Children decide when to manage their own account

Google play will no longer allow you to adjust your child's DOB once it is added. I tried to transfer supervision but it will not go through due to different country since we have moved to a new country just this year. Really frustrating.
i have a problem.. my parents set family link on my account few years back and now im 18 and i still cant remove that family link, any solutions? i cant just make a new account because i have important things on that account
Do you know what bday they set your account as and which country? Google will automatically change the supervision across by sending you a change over email if you qualify. Email google and let them know and they will ask for your identity. Then, you can switch it without your parents.
If your account is over 13, google will send an email to the child's account to take charge of his/her account and remove the family link. Please check your past emails because you might've missed it.

Thanks a bunch you clarified what I was thinking was going on, I decided to use the family link years ago with my first and now I regret it. It's so frustrating to deal with and now I'm just going to have to create all new accounts for them all.
I set my daughter on family link 6 years ago she is now 17 and we can’t remove it . The year is 2007 and they never sent us an email about stopping supervision or anything ….

Awesome. We are forever forgetting our passwords, and having accidents with our devices. You can only have so many accounts on family link, and we gotta make room.

This happens when your child turns the legal age of your country to have a self managed google account. You can find this email in your child account's gmail, then search for the email. Open it up and it will allow themselves to remove from family.
yes, this step is delete google account as well, not remove member from family link. so, how to remove member without delete google account ? because its different thing delete google acc and remove member only

Not if you have received the letter from google. If you want to remove yourself, it gives you the option but if you have not received the letter, the account holder (your guardian) will delete the account if they press remove (and it will actually say delete and then warn you). So don't press delete if you are trying to remove.

No, the deleted account will be gone. If you want to remove them from the supervision, that's different to deleting them.

Delete account member:
If you delete a child's Google account from Family Link, it permanently deletes their account, including all emails, apps, and data associated with it.
If it’s an adult account, they will lose access to family services like shared purchases or storage, but their Google account won’t be deleted.
Delete family group:
Deleting a family group dissolves the group completely. All members will lose access to family-shared services (e.g., Google Play purchases, shared subscriptions like TH-cam Premium).
Any content shared within the family (apps, books) remains available to those who purchased it, but will no longer be accessible via the family library.
Remove a member from Family Link without deleting their account:
Open the Google Family Link app.
Tap on your child's account.
Go to the menu (three dots), and select Remove account or Manage settings > Account info.
This will remove them from the Family Link but keep their Google account intact.

Once deleted, it will be gone forever. If you want to remove the permission, you have to wait till your child is of age (13 in most countries).

To change your country information,
Open the Google Play Store app on your Android device.
Tap the profile icon in the top right.
Settings General Account and device preferences Tap Country & profiles.
Tap the country where you want to add an account.
Add a payment method for this country by following the onscreen instructions.
Tip: It may take up to 48 hours for your profile to update.
Important: If you change your country, you must wait one year to change it again.
They any other choices to remove family link of my child? His cellphone is damage and i cannot open his account to other cellphone is lock. What to do? My child is 11.
The account is technically linked to yours so if they are of age, then you can just use any computer to log into his gmail. Once there, you can look for the email that google sends to switch. If they are not of age, you will have to wait. If you want to remove them before that by deleting you can follow the instructions in the video but once deleted, they will no longer have the email account.
Hey I had problems with this if your child has a lot on their account then just set the birthday to where tomorrow they would turn 13
Unfortunately, that doesn't work as I show cased in the video. It'll give you an error message.

Log Out: Make sure you're logged out of any other Google accounts on the device.
Add Account: Add your daughter's school account as a secondary account on the device. (click a new tab on google chrome then click your profile pic, then click add another account)
Sometimes school accounts have specific restrictions from the school's IT so if you run into issues with permissions you can contact them about it.

@@LetMeFixIT This family link is so utterly frustrating. My son is 15 and lives in Finland. He hasn't recieved any email that his google account is now set free. Finland or Sweden isn't even in the list of countries. I usually love android but this is driving me mad.

This didn't work for me when I tested it. You may be able to contact support and let them know that you've made a mistake on the bday but when I tried it change it as a test, it popped up with a stop msg.

Removed and deleted are two different things, which one is your account?
what if a jealous spouse used you as a child in this way to keep track of everything you're doing?
I suppose that's possible but all you have to do is go into your account and check what age you are. Also you can check to see if you are a family member from your profile if this is the case.

Nope, I tried this as a test and it didn't work. You will see that it says it cant.
Yes, it is possible. But put that account for tomorrow (+1 day) at 13 years, not 14. Wait for one or a half of the day (depending on the time zone), and you and your kid will receive an email about supervision. Everything after that is going easy. I did it. Good luck.

no the email doesn't get removed unless you remove it before they turn the appropriate age. After they turn the required age, the parent and child will receive an email that tells them they can choose to either keep supervision or let the child supervise themselves.

If you delete then yes. If you remove it, then no. Remove means to unsupervised while deleting (because you own the child account) will erase everything.

Sounds like the device is still stuck in supervision mode. Try this
Remove the account fully from Family Link on your phone by going to the supervision app and then taking the supervision off there. Double-check the supervision settings to make sure it’s turned off.
If it’s still not working, you might need to do a factory reset on your child’s device and set it up again without Family Link. Hope this helps!"
