Thanks for this video. Wise to replace the alternator with a high-quality part. I have learned the hard way that if a part is hard to get to, it's better to spend more and put in a good part than to do it again a year later.
Yo no way. Dude got absolutely taken for a RIDE by his stealership. IF they sold him the OEM Denso one, which should be all Acura sells as it's the one which comes in the vehicle, they made an extra $200 on this dumbass. Posting this and saying it's "a better part" is beyond irresponsible. No it's not. There's nothing wrong with rebuilt alternators, ESPECIALLY if they come with a warranty, like the one he passed on, unlike the one he bought for $425!!! I just bout an alternator from a BETTER manufacturer, which outputs double the amperage of his, for $125 less than he spent. That's how bad he got ripped off. On top of that, this guy is seriously bad at working on vehicles, and has absolutely no business posting instructional videos. Dude took his whole grille off before he searched TH-cam and realized he didn't need to do any of that. And he almost touched live wires. Don't be this dude, and certainly do not encourage him. Go watch literally any one of the other 2nd gen MDX alternator replacement videos, and you'll save a bunch of time. And don't buy parts from the dealership. Order the same exact parts elsewhere and save a ton of money. The exact part he bought brand new should be no more than $200. Ever.
@@vanguardhotrodshop8633 it's not an Acura part. If it's actually the OEM parts it's produced by Denso, and you got absolutely ripped OFF. Literally robbed. Brand new, high output alternators from reputable manufacturers for this vehicle cost less than you spent. Also, you've got no business making instructional videos. You clearly had no clue what you were doing. You didn't even disconnect the battery before you started working. Or at least EDIT the video so people know how important it is to do so before doing anything under the hood. If you worked in any kind of genuinely reputable shop, you would've been fired long ago.... This video was unbelievably bad. Who hired you????? They should also be fired. I'll be sure and avoid the hell out of "vanguard hot rod shop" lmao. God knows how crappy all those "hot rods" you build are. Probably filled with parts from home depot.
Just did this myself. Anyone who has experienced this in their lives deserves some kind of 🏅. I'm assuming the 1.3 hours is for someone with the hands of a toddler and dexterity of Bruce Lee
Getting my alternator replaced right now, I can hear my mechanic bitchin in the back 🤭🤭 talkin bout he gotta damn near take apart the whole front just to get the alternator in.. I pray he did a good job.
My 2003 acura mdx /after long drive over 400 miles ,next morning started up/smell burning, stopped engines and checked noticed burn smell, then re start, but unable to re start,no luck/got new batteries starting up good now got a lot smoke near the alternator battery wire connector.wolla its a bad alternator, notice battery picture on dashboard, but for weeks, there was a maintenance light blinking and disappeared, now I understand why/ cost $340 in a shop my family known, part if i buy at auto zone $79’ hopefully this will help people have the same issue.
No way, I did it the same way without looking at instructions. And looked to see if there was an easier way, there isnt. I looked at the labor time its 1.3 hours. Either that's super short or we are doing it wrong
how about fixing you're hood struts 1st ! what a joke and 12.9 is charging, you're battery sucks I just did one replace the alt and an hour latter the light came on the battery cell was bad the battery was 4 years old wasted money on the alt for nothing ! You check from alt directly not on battery, resistance from a bad battery will show a lower reading when checking on battery terminals ! if the battery is 3-4 years old replace it then check readings with ac on head lights on and fans going the reading should be 12.75-13V if lower replace alt !

Yes, I went with an Acura part. Big money but better quality.

The Entheo Gardener why you so offended
@@mysticlorelab Not sure what prompted this long written unhappy response. Vehicle runs great to this day !
When you said it was a bitch I'm thinking let a mechanic do it

That is a beautiful Acura!

Yes, I can't see it being 1.3 hours. Space in there is very tight !
My mechanic charged me extra 75$ to remove the freon.
