At this point in her career and her age, she's doing the work, putting in her 10000hrs, singing every genre, developing her voice. Honing her skill, she's truly a vocal artist. Not every song will showcase her complete toolbox, or arsenal of vocal weapons at her disposal. She was a very advanced apprentice and she's now entering the journeyman phase of her career. You have to take her body of work from 6yrs old to present day and see it as a sum of different levels of vocal ability and not each song as a singular entity. Like I said, she's doing the work needed to reach her dream, and I say well done young lady, well done!
I totally agree with you. Angelina chooses only those elements from her vast musical toolbox which she feels are necessary for the song she has chosen to sing. Every note, tone, inflexion she sings is chosen by design.
She will be winning Emmys in various genres soon. She is such a good cross over artist. TXRD is a Norwegian group, just like Alan Walker, and I think it was great that they both recognized her talent and spotlighted her. There is a video of this song with girls shuffle dancing to it. Angelina can not be pigeon holed. She is a global talent that is on her way to fulfill her dream of being a mega super star. Her immensely unique talent confirms that she is capable of performing in any genre. She appeals to a much wider and age diverse audience than any other artist I know of. Her vocals are of course great but as you say the song doesn’t really allow her to show what she can do. It’s also not necessarily one of my favorite genres of music.
