Hope everyone's having a great weekend so far. As we chat about weeds, start thinking about some other lawn tips you're on the lookout for. Leave a comment for me to let me know, so I can bring them to you. I want Budget Lawns to be your go-to place for all your answers. When I was getting started in lawn care, it drove me nuts to always have to go on a wild goose chase for answers to simple questions. That ends here on Budget Lawns.
Budget Lawns as on the label they are saying for best results spray when temp is 45 and in your video you are saying apply when it’s really hot ? Please advice
Depends on your grass type. I have a warm season grass and can spray when hotter. If you have a cool season grass it likely needs to follow the label. It may take more than one application. I did 2.
Budget Lawns I’m newbie in this lawn care and I don’t know the type of my lawn is it .if I show you my grass pic can you please tell me which type of grass it is ?
I have St Augustine grass... the orange cap weed stop liquid says no for St. Augustine grass.... the yellow cap weed stop says no to bitter blue variety of St. Augustine grass.. I'm having a hard time figuring out ID exactly what I got, it's warm season southern St Augustine with some grass other mixed in.. label also says not to apply when air temps are 85 degrees and above or risk damage to the grass turf..... so for July-Sept in E. Tx it's a no-go anyway even if it was for my grass.... according to the instructions this is a spring and fall application product.... I follow the instructions.....
How long after applying this weed kilker can I seed my lawn? My lawn looks horrible and I need to get it under control this year. I also need to fertilize my yard. Any suggestions when to do this during all of this?
I been using this product as a pre emergent for years with great results. As far as when to put down it depends on soil temps. For the most part I put it down 1st week of October and 1st week of March here in central Alabama. I also use it as a post emergent but only as a spot spray. I also use Scotts grassy weed post emergent for POA which is the hardest weed I have had to date to control. I then use Scotts fertilizers only in the spring and summer. I have had great success with this process. Thanks for sharing this video! Spot spraying is a year round must but most folks are not willing to do it.
Hey there, my lawn has so many weeds that i forgot which type of grass i have... This video helped me realize i bought the wrong type of weed killer.. i am on my way to change the bag. Thanks for the video
After watching your video, I went out and purchased this product. It works. The dandelions are dying daily. I would definitely recommend this product. Thanks for the video. New sub here.
Thank you so much for this video. I'm having to take care of my yard for the first time and am clueless with how to conquer these weeds. The stuff that caused cancer in some people did not work for me. So, here goes with your tips, hopefully things will turn around for the better.
You're very welcome. Happy I could help. I've been in your shoes before. Don't sweat it. I've got lots more basic tips coming soon. Hope you'll join us for more! Thanks so much.
Just used the spray today on my crabgrass. Hoping for good results here in WI. No rain in the forecast for 5 days and temps will be in the 70's. Thanks for the video!
Awesome. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate it. Hope it works out for ya. Good news is, with the cold weather coming, it'll die off soon! Thanks again.
Love it! I have definitely been guilty of not reading labels in the past. Wish you were around back then to tell me how I was supposed to use products like this. 👍🏼 great info!
Thanks man! Appreciate that! Hopefully this will help folks who were in that spot you and I were in years ago. Still lots to learn, but we're getting ahead of the curve I'd like to think! 👊
Thanks for the video. I've got an acre and a half in the country that I mow in Southern Ohio (aka rain forest), surrounded by woods and crop fields. I missed my pre-emergent. I used this as the bottle said and it only discolored my grass. Didn't touch the crabgrass. I'll step it up this time and follow your suggestions. I use a 30gal tank sprayer. If I use a surfactant do you think it would work in about 16 hours before a rain? They are giving rain on and off for another week or so.
That should be enough time to dry. If the crabgrass is mature, it is very hard to kill it with this stuff. You have to catch it early as it’s coming up. Thanks for watching.
Good video man. As a semi-hobbyist out here in Phoenix, AZ I have to agree that the Spectracide provides the most bang for the buck. There are some weeds here that I need a specialized product to take care of the problem but I would say that Spectracide wipes out 97% of my issues.
Great information. I have Bermuda. My method is hitting the yard once my daily low temps are around 50 degrees with a per-emergent (granular). That creates a good barrier when watered in. Once my yard is about 70-80% out of dormancy, I mow the lawn on day one, the next day (day two) I hit with the Spectracide through a hose-end sprayer and lastly, the third day I spot spray POA with Image. I literally don't get weeds.
Thank you. Solid solid plan there. Feels good when you figure out what works and stick to it. No weeds feels even better. Nice job. Appreciate ya watching and your feedback!
I put down new bermuda sod, and had yellow nutsedge grow in like crazy. I used the hose end spray just how you recommended and it completely killed the nutsedge perfectly. However is turned the area I sprayed a bit brown...does that eventually go away??
It can turn bermuda brown and will usually go away. I don't like to spray new sod in the first year, especially if it's not rooted really well. You should be fine but just keep an eye on it if it's brand new. Regardless, it'll be ok in the long run. Thanks for watching.
John here just got some call the 1 800 number and asked about how much in a 1gal. Sprayer they asked what type of grass did I have which ken. Blue grass and fecue 31 about a min later she get back phone said 6.4 oz. per gal of water. Having high hopes that why I look you up to see just what and how your using it. Super thanks got lots of rain now but just waiting like you said wait it out for best results. May your green grass be green.
Great info. I worked in lawn care for 20 years. Chemicals and treatments have come a long way. Years ago there were very few options for homeowners, had to be licensed to get the most effective chemicals. I remember when Drive (Quinclorac) came out, it was the best thing since sliced bread. The 1st time there was an effective post emergent crabgrass killer that wouldn't kill fescue.
Hi, thanks for this thorough video! I just broadcast sprayed my yard with the Weed Stop for Lawns + Crabgrass Killer. Mowed about a week ago, sprayed on my hot, dry lawn. My question to you is how often should I be doing this post-emergent? Is it once a season? Every month until the weeds die? The bottle doesn't have clear instructions, only that you shouldn't exceed .57 lbs per year, which isn't helpful, HA! Thanks in advance!
You're welcome. Good question. My rule of thumb is only 2 broadcast treatments a season. The second one 2 weeks after the first if there are still a lot of weeds on the lawn. After that, you can just spot spray the bad areas if there are any left. In my experience, I've never needed to do more than 2, because I've always had such good results with this. I hope this helps ya a little more. Thanks so much for watching. I appreciate ya!
I just moved into a house (Russellville Ar) and I need help identifying my grass. I'm watching all your videos as I intend to make this lawn beautiful. I'm new to all this lawn stuff. Any help is appreciated, as I am researching to the best of my abilities.
Very cool. That’s my hometown. Born and raised there till moving away for college. I’m sure you’ve got bermuda. Maybe zoysia. Look into those two first and see if they look like your lawn. Congrats on the house. Happy to help if I can. Thanks for watching.
I use the granular only for pre-emergent so I water right away. But if using for post-emergent, you need to follow the label. I'd wait a day or two if possible. Thanks for watching.
Great video as always. I plan on getting my sod lawn in better shape this season. When is the best time to use a weed kill, a firtilizer and over seeding with a hybrid Bermuda seed? It's January in south Texas. I don't know which order they go in and I'm looking for your expertise here. It's alot to ask any help greatly appreciated
Thank you. You'll be much warmer before me in Spring. Here, I wouldn't weed kill or fertilize until sometime in May when It warms up into the 80s steadily. So whenever that would be for you and when your grass is about 75% greened up if it went dormant. I would not overseed bermuda at all. It will spread on its own for you. Hope this helps. Thanks again.
Nice tips! I just bought a bag. However I just mowed and put down fertilizer a day before a big rain. Should I wait to put the spectracide down if so how long?
Appreciate ya. Yeah, I'd wait until the lawn dries out and you don't have anymore rain in the forecast for at least 24 hours. Then wait to mow again for a few days to let the product work. Hope this helps. Thanks!
Great informative video... love your content and very educational and enjoyable to watch....have a quick ? for you sir.... you said you go heavy on granular as pre emergent... how heavy are you putting down??
By the way, I used it and it worked just as you said. Wish I could send you pictures of my lawn that was covered with weeds but is now a home owners dream lawn
First I'm here because DADing all day mentioned you, just subscribed. Second I use the post emergent twice and I didn't got good results. I have heard many youtubers praising it so the product does work. I believe I did a correct application but will look at my journal to see if I can spot any issue.
Awesome. Dadding all Day is a great channel. He puts out some fantastic stuff. Sorry you didn't have good results with the product. A journal is a great way to keep up. I appreciate ya watching and your comments. Thanks for coming over to check things out and subscribing.
Hey again! So another question. How does this product do with newer sod? I know from a previous video I watched of yours you said don’t apply weed killer until about the 9th week of it growing, which I will wait until. I do see a lot of crap grass trying to come in and I have been trying to keep up with pulling them by hand but it’s growing faster and faster. I think overall the lawn looks great for it being band new(7weeks) but it seems like the weeds are wanting to try and come more and more. Will this product be good doing the hose and spray at my 9th week or should I just do spot treatment at 9th week?
My preference is to not apply anything in the first year, although you can as mentioned. I wouldn't do it any sooner than what I lined out in that other video. Weeds, unfortunately, are just part of it. What people online don't tell you is how they went through all that too. All you see is the manicured turf they've worked years to get. Don't sweat it and enjoy the ride. Hope this helps. Thanks as always!
I just bought the Spectracide Weed & Feed spray. Now, I’m guessing, that I should have bought the Weed Stop instead? Would I be right in holding the Weed & Feed and go buy the Stop first? Thanks. Gonna try to my lawn nice and green this year.
I'm not a fan of weed and feed products. I prefer to separate the two tasks into 2 different products. It's really a personal preference. You can always give what you got a shot and mix it up from there if you're not happy. Good luck in the lawn this season. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thanks for the good info, just picked up a bag of the granules for my front yard. We will see what happens. Temps here are 95-98 I lightly watered yesterday morning and put the granules down. Going to be rain free next couple of days! 🤞
Newbie here. I killed grass/weeds late last year. I then seeded and grew grass in patches along with weeds. Almost 2 weeks ago, I applied the weed stop and it is working. Still some weeds but a huge improvement. Do you recommend to reseed? If so when? Or recommend something else?
I'd probably wait about a week of so. The best thing to do it check what the label says. But for me, I'd time the application and my planting about a week apart. Hope this helps Thanks so much for watching.
Once it's dry, it's safe for pets according to the label. I keep my dog off for at least 24 hours though. If your dogs eat grass, that might be a different story. IMO July is too hot to spray for weeds. It can stress the grass. But you can always follow the label and give it a shot. Thanks for watching.
You'll want to kill the weeds first then wait a couple weeks or more to spread your seed. You want to make sure the area is relatively clear of the dead material. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
Iknow you said look out for rain in the forecast but what about the sprinkler timing?? Do I not water for a few days?? Thanks for the video just not my first house and redone the back yard with new sod about a month ago 🎉
It’s supposed to be good to go once it dries. I I just try to go at least 24 hours without water. So maybe just skip one cycle of watering to make that happen. Hope this helps. Congrats on the house and thanks for watching.
Thanks for the great job. So how careful do I have to be as far as overspray onto foliage.? Are there some things that are ok to spray or is this grass only?
Thank you. You wanna be as careful as possible. Too much overspray could kill plants that you don’t want to kill. You wanna keep it on the grass only. It is designed to not harm the grass and only target other plants. I use a cardboard box as a shield when I spray around my beds. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and the question. Appreciate ya.
I have a yard thts 75 percent weeds and 15 percent grass...I purchased Spectracide weed n feed to just spray my yard but someone just said in another vid that spectracide can kill your grass if its st Augustine😢...but I dont know if I have st aug. grass? Is it safe for me to try it still ?
You need to know what gras type first. Spectracide makes a purple label bottle for st Augustine. See if this helps. th-cam.com/video/F4Lc_7d3Z2Q/w-d-xo.html
Awesome video and thanks. Question I have is I’m 21 days into my newly laid elite fescue sod. Before the sod I had bad weeds and crabgrass throughout. My contractor did a good job spraying until the crabgrass and weeds were dead. He tilled the dirt afterwards and prepped for sod install. Given the heavy watering during the first few weeks after installing the sod, the crabgrass weeds started to come through the sod. I’m freaking out because we’re towards the end of summer and I’m nervous that any pre or post emergent may damage the sod since it has only been less than a month since the install. I also don’t want the weeds to overtake my new sod. Any recommendations on how I should approach the situation would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. My approach is a lot different than others. I have a lot of videos about it in this new construction playlist. th-cam.com/play/PLI5KxvSvsO34HnqWtnRQhX4d-nnXHc-6G.html I'm on my second new sod lawn and have had success on both. Hope the videos help. Appreciate you watching.
I live in Oregon, just outside of Portland so I’m not completely sure what kind of grass i have. Cool temp and a mix. I bought this product and as of now the lawn has a lot of clover and these large flat round weeds. I don’t think they are dandelion..... Anyways, we bought the house in 2019 and I’ve been totally overwhelmed with how to deal with the grass. I don’t know what to do and what to use and when. Do I kill the weeds then seed? Or seed and let the new grass choke out the weeds? The clover is creeping.
This product worked great on the clover for me. I go through timing of application in this video. As far as seeding goes. I'd prolly go ahead and kill weeds before seeding. You want to open things up to more sun and air to allow for more seeding success. I hope this helps a little. Don't stress it. Just enjoy the process. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Thank you. Appreciate that. I manually water with oscillating sprinklers, so it takes a long time to put down the desired amount of water. Usually about a couple hours for .50". How long to water is dependent on your sprinkler setup. I recommend using a tuna can or some form of measuring device to see how long it takes to apply .50" and 1" of water to the lawn. Hope this helps. Thanks again.
Depends on how much of an area I need to spray. If it's a small area or spot treatment, I'll mix in a sprayer. If it's a larger broadcast, the hose end is easier. Thanks for the question and watching.
Thank you. I’m a teacher on spring break right now so all is good. Just like doing TH-cam for fun, meeting new people and helping folks if I can. Hope you and yours are doing well too!
I'd always recommend the bag rate for beginners, but if you've got experience, I just play around with the rate till I find what works best. I use 2 bags on 4K sqft. They're labeled for 3K ft a bag, so I'm a bit over, but it works great. I don't know what that officially equates to rate wise. I don't really measure anything. I just roll with it. Thanks for the question and watching.
Are you applying fertilizer/seeding well after you apply this as post emergent? Or would it be better to apply fertilizer/seeding well before this weed killer?
I inherited a fairly nice lawn with the house I recently bought in Missouri in the winter, but it definitely has a weed problem. I'm planning to use one or both of these Spectracide products in early May and probably a second application a few weeks later. My question is, should I use the "preventer" (pre-emergent) first and then the "killer" (post emergent) a few weeks later or should I use the "killer" first and then the "preventer" a few weeks later? Or would you recommend a couple of applications of the "killer" first in May and then do an application of the "preventer" some time in the summer?
Good questions. It gets a little confusing because the pre-emergent granular is also a post emergent. It has the ingredients for both. However, I don't apply it the way it's supposed to be for post emergent results. I only use it for the pre-emergent side. I would use the post emergent. Then, if needed, make a second application 2 weeks later. I'd give it another couple weeks after that to let the lawn recover a bit before applying the pre-emergent. You could even wait until fall to apply it. All 3 applications in such a short period is really a lot for the lawn. Hope this helps and answers your questions. Appreciate ya!
Depends on when you do the weed app. I've done a weed app and fertilized on the same day with an organic that didn't have to be watered in. Best time for fertilizer though is when the bermuda is about 75% greened up. Hope this helps man. Thanks so much for watching and your question.
I had sod laid in Arkansas in October 2020. We watered before it went dormant. Now we have tons of weeds. Is it OK to use this being my sod is only 5 months old?
Good question. I'm in northwest Arkansas. Always great to see a fellow Arkansan on here. That's a tough call. Depends on who you ask. I play it a little more conservative on how early I use herbicides. I'm more concerned about the sod establishing and getting strong for the long haul as opposed to some unsightly weeds. Since you got it down in Oct., it didn't have much time to come in and establish before the dormant winter. So you're kinda starting from new now. It would really just depend on how well rooted it is. See if you can pull it up easily or not. If it were me, I'd just do my best to ignore the weeds and wait until the second half of the season (or even next year) before I sprayed any weed killers on such new sod. Good news is, the weeds you see now are cool season weeds and will be gone when it gets hot out. With that said, other folks would say to blast them now if you want. It's really what you feel comfortable with. Hope this help. Sorry it's not a definitive answer. Thanks for watching.
Shouldn't take long to dry. Especially on a sunny, warm day. As soon as it's dry, I let my dog on the lawn. Always be sure to follow the label's recommendations though. Thanks for watching and the question. Hope this helps.
Instruction, table-3, indicates 8 oz. per 3 gal. of water to treat 1250 square foot of lawn. It is 2.66 oz. per 1 gal of water. However, back label has 3.2 oz. per 1 gallon of water. Would you please clarify how many OZ per one gal water of Weed Stop for Lawn plus Concentrate Crabgrass Killer 5 hr. results, be used for pre emerging and post emerging application. Thanks in advance
That product is not used for pre-emergent control. It is only post-emergent. The granular in the bag is the pre-emergent. I wish I could answer this question for you, but the way I would use the product may be different than you because of my experience. Not knowing your level of experience, I can only refer you to follow the label's directions. That is always the best route to go. I haven't had to use that product in years, so I don't recall the amount I used. Sorry.
Thank you. I don’t have a setting that I use all the time. I just play with it to find one that lets the product out slow enough to spread evenly in multiple passes across the lawn. Hope this helps. Thanks again.
After the first application of the killer Post emergent, Did you had to do another application? Or Do I just do one on spring time and maybe do the Pre emergent on Fall?
We have a “lawn” that is probably 90% assorted weeds with a scattering of grass we haven’t identified yet. We’re new to this area - middle TN, zone 7b, and originally from CA, have never had this much yard to maintain - and too large areas to use a hose-end application without sprinklers to water anything in. I’m guessing we’ll have to stay tuned to the weather forecast before using the granule and spreader application. As we’re in scorching August right now, would it be best to just wait until Spring? I want these weed beasts gone 💣. Love all your videos and easy to understand information!
Glad to hear the videos help. Appreciate you watching em. If it were me, I’d wait until next spring to start. The season still has some time left but not enough imo. Others may disagree. That’s a lot of work to start in august. Hope this helps. Thanks again.
@@BudgetLawns - Thanks for your quick response … any way we can reduce the workload in this heat and humidity is sooo appreciated. We’re excited to finally have a nice grass lawn … instead of mowing a weed field 😂
It’s already mid June in Seattle and we don’t have a single day over 70 in the next week, how long to reapply again if first time doesn’t work? :( my lawn is completely covered in weeds as I recently bought the house and it was neglected for a while during the sale, I really want to keep the weeds under control and build up the turf again.
We sprayed spectracide and crabgrass killer about 2 weeks ago on March 10th, can we still overseed in about a month? The bottle says 3-4 weeks I'm not sure how long the barrier will last? So the seed will grow
Hey ya'll i live in southeast tx Houston ...i'm trying to get rid of DOLLAR WEEDS FRM HELL using Spectracide Weed n Feed 20-0-0 is this wrong #1 #2 this is mymothers house now the yard man has been spraying keeping the dollar weeds down but its not working is there something else i can do other than the Weed n Feed 20-0-0 ?
Hi there, thanks for the video! have you ever tried them both (preventer granules and killer concentrate) at the same time? I'm thinking about doing it
You bet. I have not tried that. I use the granular as a pre emergent which needs watered in that way. I use the liquid as killer which doesn’t need watered in. Therefore can’t apply them at the same time for my needs. Thanks for watching.
This is great info. I’m attempting to take care of my lawn instead of paying a big company to come out and do it... do you have a video on timing of aeration and fertilization/overseedig after weed killing?
Awesome. Thank you. Glad you found it helpful. You can absolutely do it yourself. I've got videos about most topics. I have bermuda, so to answer your questions, you need to keep in mind your grass type since different rules will apply. Thanks again. Here's a few for ya. th-cam.com/video/g5C7oABl3XQ/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/VY9GIi4JYBc/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/lxOEwNg9MmA/w-d-xo.html
Great video! Good information! One question though, weeds were out of control last year, and my lawn is very uneven. If I use a pre-emergent, will it prevent new seed from growing when I top dress seed and level my lawn?
A pre-emergent should NOT be used when seeding. It will prevent the seeds from germinating. Great question. Appreciate ya watching and commenting. Hope this helps.
So post emergent your saying mow wait a couple day apply the product. And what about watering the grass? I'm in az we're already hitting in the 90s 100s degrees whats your best suggestion to get rid of these weeds in my lawn.
I hope the video will help answer your questions. I don't have anymore to add to what I go over in the vid. I address every question you've just asked me. Thanks for watching. You'll find the answers there.
Check the label. It will tell what grasses it is safe on. Their orange label is not safe for st Aug while their purple label is. Always check the label. It’s law. Thanks for watching.
We are on a well here. I think it's about 150 to 200 ft deep. You may not be an expert on this but I'll ask you anyway. Is spectracide weed stop for lawns okay if you're on a well. I know the label says apply at least a hundred feet from the well. Any thoughts on that?
Always follow the label. If it says you can use it but not within 100 ft, then I'd say your good to go for that area. Other than that, I don't know much in the way of well practices. Thanks for watching.
I bought four bottles of post emergent cause the weeds never left from last year lol. I sprayed three out of four bottles for approx 6k sq ft. Should I spray the fourth bottle too?
@@BudgetLawns thanks for responding. I'll def wait and then spot treat for anything that survived lol. I hope it lasts for the season. I tried granular two years ago and didn't like the results. Im hoping this works better
I go max rate…6.5 oz per gallon of water. If you’re not comfortable with herbicides you may wanna cut that back a little. Read the label first. Thanks for watching.
Hey there new sub here thanks to striperman , Ive used this in the past its a pretty good product. I use the 1 gallon ready to spray for post to do some spot spraying with never hurts the lawn at all , but not very effective on clover . Thanks for the great content.
Hi, thank you for your knowledge but I would like to ask how many times in a year you put down pre emergent in your Bermuda lawn or st .Augustine lawn? Regards
Thank you. Appreciate that. I put 3 applications a year on my bermuda. Sept, Jan, and March. Here's a vid I did that gives more details on my schedule, th-cam.com/video/k00L1yyIGpw/w-d-xo.html. Thanks for the question and watching.

I forces myself to sit here to listen to everything you, so glad I did thank you!
Thank you. Appreciate it.

I need to use the granules first? Or can I use the spray to pre and post emergent?
Thank you. Appreciate that! Definitely a solid product without having to break the bank. Thanks so much for the feedback!
I have Bermuda as well and think I will try this plan out as well. In all of this, when is the right time to put down the fertilizer?
Awesome. Thanks for watching. Good luck! Green grass to you as well!
Thanks for the advice and your super fast response. I’ll put this Weed & Feed on the shelf for now and get the Weed Stop to begin treatment. 👍
Right on. Good luck. And you're welcome. Always happy to help! Appreciate ya!
Spray and pray is my strategy but I like to see how the pros do it too! Lol - good vid bud. Keep em coming!
Haha! You're not the only one in that camp. Thanks for watching buddy! Appreciate it!
😂😂😂😭excatly
That’s interesting. Thanks for watching and the feedback!
Great video , very informative. I have use this product before and I got good results. I’m going to use it next year as pre emerged. Thanks
Thank you. I appreciate that. Glad you found it helpful. Definitely a great product. Can't beat it for the price. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Really helpful video! Just wondering how often I should use Spectracide Weed Stop Plus Crabgrass Killer. Just once a year?
Thank you. Glad it helps. Use it when necessary but always follow the label.
I can honestly say this product REALLY work and fast. I know nothing about grass
You got that right. The best imo. Appreciate you!
New to lawn control so i just started near the house to see. Thanks for the presentation. Im officially getting older i care about my yard now 😂
😂😂 Happens to the best of us. Appreciate ya watching and commenting!
When can I resume watering the lawn after application (granules)?
I use the granular only for pre-emergent so I water right away. But if using for post-emergent, you need to follow the label. I'd wait a day or two if possible. Thanks for watching.
Great video. Very helpful! TY I've got crabgrass all over my backyard. It's so aggresive.
It's a booger to control for sure. Thanks for watching. Hope this helps.
Im using a 21 gallon pull behind lawn sprayer and using weed stop + crabgrass killer. How many Oz of concentrate do I use per gallon of water??
Follow the label. I go max rate what the label says. 👍👍
Thanks!
Just used the stuff for lawns. I have used weed only and it's good
Good information. It’s nice to know a $15 bag works just as well as $75 bag of a boutique brand
👍👍Indeed. Appreciate ya!
When should I apply after i rennovated/oversseded during the fall (sept)
Great informative video... love your content and very educational and enjoyable to watch....have a quick ? for you sir.... you said you go heavy on granular as pre emergent... how heavy are you putting down??
Thank you. I go max rate. Appreciate ya watching.
Good job good info on an inexpensive way to control weed
Thanks
Thank you. Appreciate that!
By the way, I used it and it worked just as you said. Wish I could send you pictures of my lawn that was covered with weeds but is now a home owners dream lawn
That’s awesome. Great to hear. Nice job! 👊👊👍👍
I use it for both works well ☘️
👍👍
First I'm here because DADing all day mentioned you, just subscribed. Second I use the post emergent twice and I didn't got good results. I have heard many youtubers praising it so the product does work. I believe I did a correct application but will look at my journal to see if I can spot any issue.
Awesome. Dadding all Day is a great channel. He puts out some fantastic stuff. Sorry you didn't have good results with the product. A journal is a great way to keep up. I appreciate ya watching and your comments. Thanks for coming over to check things out and subscribing.
Great video. Do you have a favorite spreader for fert and/or seeds? Thanks!
Appreciate ya. I like the Earthway Even Spread. Thanks again!
I’ve learned so much from your videos! And yes I subscribed for sure!!!!
Awesome. So great to hear. Thank you very much!
You bet. Appreciate ya watching. Good luck 👍.
I really like how you think sir! Lord bless you and yours.
Much appreciated! 🙏Thank you for watching. Same to you and yours!
Awesome. Good job. Depends on your grass type. Warm season turfs will fill in on their own where most cool season grasses won’t, with few exceptions.
Great and simple information. How often should I use preemergent during the year?
Thank you. Glad you find it helpful. I replied to your other comment with my preemergent schedule. Thanks so much.
If I use this to spot treat in a flower bed, how long should I wait until it’s safe to plant new flowers?
I'd probably wait about a week of so. The best thing to do it check what the label says. But for me, I'd time the application and my planting about a week apart. Hope this helps Thanks so much for watching.
How safe is the spray for pets? My dogs eat grass. Will it hurt them? It's now July in North Idaho, is it too late to spray?
Once it's dry, it's safe for pets according to the label. I keep my dog off for at least 24 hours though. If your dogs eat grass, that might be a different story. IMO July is too hot to spray for weeds. It can stress the grass. But you can always follow the label and give it a shot. Thanks for watching.
I love the budget aspect, and great content. Love the southern vibe👍
Appreciate that very much! Thank you for watching!
Fantastic thumbnail! As I said before, I love these products as well! They're cheap and effective.
Thanks man! I'm pretty proud of that one. I hope it works as intended. And you got that right. Thanks for watching as always!
Hi thank you for the great info, im basically starting from scratch do i kill weeds first then try grass seeds? Or at same time? I’m in Orlando
Excellent presentation. Very useful.
Thank you 🙏
When is the best time to apply weed killer. Before or after a cut?
A day or two after. Thanks for watching.
Hi question I have gravel in al around and I have weeds growing through the gravel can I use this product on the gravel area to kill the weeds
Sure can. As long as they’re weeds and not a grass that the product won’t kill. Thanks for watching and the question.
Detail my good man...thank you for the simple details of this video
You bet. Hope it helps. Appreciate ya watching and the feedback!
@@BudgetLawns could you possibly point me to a good video of yours for bring a lawn back from the depth of hell I'd appreciate it

@@BudgetLawns thanks man...just moved into my first house and the back yard is pretty bad with those wild strawberries and dock weed
Congrats on the home. You’ll get the lawn whipped into shape. Don’t sweat it and enjoy the ride.
I came down with bad case of weeds on my lawn. If I use one of these 2 products how soon can I use milorganite? Thanks for your help.
I used milo and the post-emergent on the same day! Appreciate ya watching.
Great content and great advice as usual. I'm glad I subscribed to your channel. Keep up the great work brother.
Thank you man. That means a lot. Glad to have you here and glad to be subbed to yours!
Came across this video I bought the post emergent how often do I spray this?I did it a week ago but still many weeds
Give it at least 2 weeks before reapplying. Follow the label for recommended max number of applications per year. Thanks for watching.
Zone 7a --October 20th -- clover-- should I do post emergent with pre mixed in my gallon sprayer??
You could. I don't spray any weeds this time of year though. I'll knock out the little clover I have in spring.
HI can this be applied while we are having heavy rain ? North NJ here our weather has just started to heat up;
You need dry weather for at least 24 hours. Thanks for watching.
Good video just subscribed, how long do you water each zone in your lawn. thanks
Awesome video!!
Keep em coming!
Thank you. Appreciate ya!
Do you like the post emergent you mix in your sprayer or the one that hooks to the hose?
Depends on how much of an area I need to spray. If it's a small area or spot treatment, I'll mix in a sprayer. If it's a larger broadcast, the hose end is easier. Thanks for the question and watching.
@@BudgetLawns thank you! Really enjoy the videos and they are extremely helpful!
Awesome. Thank you!
...good job. hope wife, family, grass business is doing well.
Thank you. I’m a teacher on spring break right now so all is good. Just like doing TH-cam for fun, meeting new people and helping folks if I can. Hope you and yours are doing well too!
Going to give this a try this year. When you say you go heavier then the bag rate what rate are you putting down?
I'd always recommend the bag rate for beginners, but if you've got experience, I just play around with the rate till I find what works best. I use 2 bags on 4K sqft. They're labeled for 3K ft a bag, so I'm a bit over, but it works great. I don't know what that officially equates to rate wise. I don't really measure anything. I just roll with it. Thanks for the question and watching.
Are you applying fertilizer/seeding well after you apply this as post emergent? Or would it be better to apply fertilizer/seeding well before this weed killer?
Always follow the label instructions. I have Bermuda so I don’t seed.
Budget Lawn Guy what is the best time to put down fertilizer after doing the weed application.
After a did PE in Abril, what and when i can use next?
Great content!🎉
Thank you. Hard to answer that question. Lots of other variables at play.
For the post emergent how long does it take to dry? Is it safe to use if you have dogs that use the lawn once it's dry?
Sorry.
Great video! What are the settings when using a E-Z spreader product? Please respond
Thank you. I don’t have a setting that I use all the time. I just play with it to find one that lets the product out slow enough to spread evenly in multiple passes across the lawn. Hope this helps. Thanks again.

Can I use this on St Augustine grass
Do not use the orange label on St Augustine. Spectracide has a purple bottle that is for St Augustine and centipede grass. Thanks for watching.
I would just be focused on regular mowing throughout the rest of this season.
It's recommended to wait 2 weeks between applications. Good luck. You'll get there. Thanks for watching.
We sprayed spectracide and crabgrass killer about 2 weeks ago on March 10th, can we still overseed in about a month? The bottle says 3-4 weeks I'm not sure how long the barrier will last? So the seed will grow
Always follow what the bottle recommends. I can't give you any other advice than that. Thanks for watching.

Give the liquid post emergent I talk about in this video a shot. Thanks for watching. Good luck!
@@BudgetLawns Thanks for the answer!

Great information! Thankyou😊

I would give it time to work its magic. You don't want to cause harm to the turf by spraying too much. Thanks for watching and your question!
@@BudgetLawns thanks for responding. I'll def wait and then spot treat for anything that survived lol. I hope it lasts for the season. I tried granular two years ago and didn't like the results. Im hoping this works better
You're welcome. Sounds like a good plan. Hope you see better results this time. Thanks again.
I have a 15gal tow behind sprayer can I dilute the post treatment? If so what water to product ratio?
I go max rate…6.5 oz per gallon of water. If you’re not comfortable with herbicides you may wanna cut that back a little. Read the label first. Thanks for watching.
Nice video, keep them coming brother.
Appreciate ya man! You got it!
Hey there new sub here thanks to striperman , Ive used this in the past its a pretty good product. I use the 1 gallon ready to spray for post to do some spot spraying with never hurts the lawn at all , but not very effective on clover . Thanks for the great content.
Awesome! Thank you for subbing. Keith is the man! This community is blessed to have him. Appreciate the feedback and compliment. Glad to have ya here!
Budget Lawns yeah keep the videos coming always love to learn something new
@@Aerialphotovito You got it!
