We never knew you could pour the hot syrup in the snow to make maple taffy, that was really good!

It was. We have a lot of maple syrup stuff going on in Michigan the next few weeks! One of our favorite parts of spring here!

It was a lot of fun. We try to make it out for this every year if we can!

We tapped maples in our yard a lot of years ago, close to 30 years ago...we got almost a gallon of syrup. If you don't believe burned syrup doesn't smell, pour a drop or two on your stove. But you should just take our word on it, don't try it! 🙊

I’d like to tap some trees some time and give it a try. I don’t think we have enough in our yard though. Thanks for watching!

@@adventure.anywhere we tapped only six trees if I remember, or six taps on four trees. Not sure, it was a long time ago. But they were different varieties of maple, red, silver, sugar. I'd boil down 4-5 gallons at a time, save it in old milk jugs, then the final boil down, not quite a full gallon. We savoured that for a long time.

I'm not sure we have any maples now, maybe one or two. We had a large one but it was rotting from the inside out and only inches from our house so we had to take it down. If we ever get property up north, maple trees will be a huge bonus!
