- I had the amazing privilege of accepting an honorary Doctorate from St Mary’s University.
Here is my acceptance speech after receiving the honour for services in sports science and exercise.
I cried a bit as I felt really emotional and I think it’s good to show your emotions so I’m going to share it with you. I hope you enjoy it. Thank you 🙏🏼

That was so emotional and inspirational Joe. I live alone but during lockdown you gave structure to my day getting up to do your exercises and I knew my daughters and family were doing it at the same time as well as millions of others , so I wasn’t really alone. Thank you for helping us get through it together. Well deserved .

2020, stranded away from home for months. Shall we watch Joe Wickes? Joe Who? So, Grandad, Grandma, a very pregnant daughter in law and a young granddaughter, all leaping around the room to Joe’s TH-cam exercises. Thanks Joe, you really helped us get through it.
My physical fitness journey started with your videos 2.5 years back and even today I do them. You are a great, keep it going. Thank you sensei!

Big respects to Joe for all his hard work. It's a shame though, that others can't get an honorary degree: I've been studying and working in my field for nearly 30 years, easily surpassing a 3 or 4-year degree, but they'll never do that for non-famous people.
