It was an amazing year to be alive. It showed me, even as a young teenager that people will come together and help each other when needed. I only pray that people haven't lost that trait in today's world.

I was a Senior in High School. My high school was in the country so we didn’t go back for a month. Every time the county thought it was clear enough to go back, here comes the 50 or higher winds to reclose the roads. The truly awesome thing about this storm was that we didn’t have to make up any days and we had our graduation on time in May!!! My parents had a terrible time getting to work, but somehow they managed to get through. It truly was unforgettable!!!

living in rural Mooresville Indiana, i certainly remember this. my children were 8 and 10. we had a wood burning stove that kept us warm but we were snow bound for 3 days.
when my husband finally made it into town to get groceries the store was PACKED! he said that the snow plow had made a one lane path down old 67 that you could not see over the trail, at least 8 feet tall.

I remember this. I was 5. I remember our dad getting us to town to my grandmas house. I remember how slick it was and what my dad said as we were sliding down a hill on road 3. Good times

I remember this. I lived in Illinois near st louis mo. I was 8. It was the coldest winter i have ever experienced and our power went out for days. We slept in sleeping bags under blankets in bed and mom warmed the kitchen with the gas oven. We didnt care though cause....NO SCHOOL!!!!!
My brother and i made an igloo outside so we could play and stay warm. In the 70's kids rarely played inside....even in polar vortex weather. We just got more creative!

It was very strange to be able to walk around outside & then to be able to walk right onto our roof!
We, as kids, sure did a lot of digging, building & tunneling as our Dad traveled to work every day in that mess, in a 2 wheel drive car (beast) & Of course, that was back when people valued & appreciated their jobs, but he never missed a days work!
It's amazing that so many of us survived the blizzard of 78

Brand new 78 Blazer got put to work in that blizzard. Several years had big snows back then. 77 had huge piles and one lane county roads. 78 was the biggest but last several years have had tame winters overall. I still avoid pushing shopping carts in an inch of snow. Lol

The 27th was my birthday as well and at 14 I had absolutely no worries. 😊
I was able to get on the CB radio and get someone to get my step-father home from international harvester. Btw…his birthday was the 26th just a day before it was announced we were indeed blizzard mode. 😊

I was at work on 3rd shift when it hit in Ohio. Very warm that night then the wind started. Windows bowing in. Ceiling exhaust fans sounded like helicopters. Then temps dropped. Snow was coming down in the morning sideways. Plant closed at noon. I volunteered to stay over until the plant closed. When I finally found a way home in my CAR the engine stopped. I opened the hood and the engine compartment was all snow except for the fan blade. Must’ve been climate change

That lady , please tell me that she wasn't born on 1978, no way. lol.
Most likely looks like she was born on 1958.
I know people who are around that age and they still look kind of young.

“climate change” use to be called “global warming” believing in either is as foolhardy as the apocalyptic prediction’s of the Mayan calendar prediction of 2012 or the Y2K nonsense, so….. 🤔
      Here are some honorable mentions:

      • Viewers will tire of TV.
      • Online shopping will be
      a flop.
