In my opinion, it is quite difficult to pronounce, too. That is why there are so many different versions. You may check the Tooky History channel and the video about Tadeusz Kościuszko. This guy absolutely nailed it and the way he pronounced is perfect :)

letter "ł" read as English "w" (like in the "word" for example). --> Poo-wa-ski. Hope that helps.
