I carry a Spyderco Yojumbo, Leatherman Sidekick, Case Whittler, ESEE 3 and a Victorinox classic. You can never have enough knives! The multitool for work, the fixed blade for strength, the whittler for classic use and the tactical folder for the worst case scenario and the classic lives on my key ring.

For daily urban EDC, I carry a dedicated folding knife with pocket clip, along with a Victorinox Compact on my key chain so it's just always with me. The Compact is about as big as I can go (2 layer, 91mm) on a keychain without having to carry in-pocket. If I have a backpack with me or know I'll be getting my hands dirty, my Leatherman Sidekick comes with me too. That way I have all the urban life-friendly tools of the Compact, along with the plyers, saw, serrated knife, file, and better Phillips driver of the Leatherman.

Three: Primary folder clipped to pocket, Fifth pocket knife (Spyderco Cricket is a great little package opener), and Victorinox Manager on the keychain.

When I was in the Navy I had anywhere from 1 (when in dress uniform) to 3 during normal sailing (folder, belt knife, and multi-tool) to 12 or so during Replenishment at Sea; the extras were cheaper folders, so that anyone on my station that didn't have a knife could borrow one during the evolution.

A folder (Civivi Mini Praxis as of today) in the pocket, a thin light holster on my belt houses a Victorinox Signature in between the handles of a 4" Knipex XS. In my backbag I carry a Leatherman Wave, Vic Climber (My favourite Vic - have quite a few of those - it's a massive help to have that corkscrew when you need to undo some knots and I also find use for the hook for pulling on wires or zipties etc) and a ColdSteel SR1 Lite. I do not use the latter too often, but sometimes it comes in handy when I need a mighty unbreakable tool to whack, pry or destroy something. It also cuts quite decently for a pocket axe that it is.
It probably does not count, but I have more knives and multitools on all my motorcycles and cars, and one of them vehicles is with me pretty much all the time. Mostly stainless Mora fixed blades, Vic Cilmbers and Leathermans - just to have tools at hands reach when needed.

I always have one of my larger American made folding knives on me. Plus a more traditional Case Canoe knife for normie applications. I had the Case knife engraved with "Don't Cut Yourself" and get more compliments on that beautiful little Case than anything else.

99% of the time, I just carry a Victorinox Bantam (regular model as I used tweezers very often and the toothpick ain't bad) Weighs in at 1.2oz with a suspension clip.
All the tools are used regularly and I don't typically ever need more.
Keep a leatherman in the car and one in the house just in case but most of the use is seen on the Bantam.

Leatherman wave and Izula 2 are what I carry at work daily. The blade on the Izula may not be as long as the Waves, but I can put it to harder use.

I carry at least 3 daily. A keychain Victorinox, and two folders. One folder is for “things”, the other is a dedicated “clean” knife - usually in case I need to cut food. The keychain is a backup to whatever, plus possible finger grooming - file a nail, trim a rogue cuticle/hangnail, etc., and the tweezers are the best thing for splinters! But sometimes, I also carry a fixed blade, especially when we are doing outdoorsy things like hiking, etc.

Typically nowadays I carry a locking folder (Right now it's between my Delica and the QSP Canary folder) and a Victorinox Climber. Today I'm getting another Cybertool 34 (M) and that'll replace the Climber for most days because having that nice driver and bit kit built in is wonderful. On days I want to go lighter, I replace the SAK with my Leatherman Micra. I use scissors more day to day than pliers plus having a decent tool set on the Micra helps as well. So including locking folder and depending on the SAK, 2 to 3 blades

I carried 2 multi tools and a pocket knife until the Arc came out. It replaced my Bugout, Powerpint, and Micra. Totally worth the money. I also love the fidget factor!
EDIT: I also carry a sog key knife or Vicotorinox Signature on each of my two sets of keys.

I carry two at all times, a pocket knife, fixed or folding, and a small knife on my keys. If I’m going somewhere I’ve always got a decent fixed blade in a bag, sometimes two depending, on where I’m going and for how long, plus an original leatherman that I’ve used since they first came out.

I have around 100 knives from coldsteel and crkt... big fan from New Zealand ❤ oops, i have a few spyderco para2, military and resiliences as well but usually carry 2x CEO flippers on both front pockets at work to assist my DARTS

Oh yay, thanks for answering! Love the weeds. I generally only carry one thing, and these days about 2/3 of the time it's a mini multitool (Gerber Dime). The other 1/3 it's usually my trusty old Leek because of the safety switch thingie. I carry in my purse where it doesn't stay put with a pocket clip, so the thing is going to get bounced around and possibly get bumped by other items. So I like knowing it's not going to get jostled open.

I look at EDC as a learning process, an ongoing experiment. In my school days it was a Kamp King. 50 years ago, I went to a Buck Stockman of some variation (still have my 319 and yes I’ve actually used the leather punch to repair leather tack while we had horses in the high country) and carried a 4” Crescent and 4” Channellock in my left pocket. I’ve carried a Leatherman since they came out, WAVE since that came out, carried the Al Mar SERE 2000 for nearly two decades, before beginning to experiment there and starting to carry a SAK. Went from Huntsman to Ranger because I wanted the file and liked the extra back tools. Still studying how much use I get from the SAK vs the Leatherman (carry Knipex Cobra and Proto 704 in left pocket). Have experimented with a few folders lately, right now using the Ganzo knockoff of the Ontario RAT 1 in D2 because I wanted to try a RAT 1 with cross lock instead of liner lock. It’s time to have another belt made for my 50 year old single edge Bowen Survivor “belt buckle” (used more often as bottle opener than knife. Counting the Ed Caffrey EBK 1 around my neck, my EDC is four blades or five, depending on whether I have the Bowen Survivor. Everything has a use, and I am trying to streamline it… 🙄

I carry a Buck knives MiniBuck tool every day. It's been in my pocket since 1998. I also carry a primary knife lately it's been the Sencut Watauga and a smaller secondary lately, the Civivi Bo. I also carry on a daily basis a small flashlight, which has been the Streamlight Macrostream for the last 6 months. Also, carry a Bic lighter and a CRKT pocket sharpener which has T6 and T8 fold-out bits for knife maintenance anywhere.

2 to 5, depending on the pants I'm wearing, plus multi tool (Gerber crucial= size+ pocket clip) and pocket pouch: flashlight, pry wedge, HOTO screwdriver, tweezer, 4ever pen (silver tip). Probably overkill but better to be prepared just in case.

Hello gentlemen, I would like recommendations for knives or solutions to carry on delicate dress pants that would be damaged or frayed by constantly pulling on and off a large knife on a pocket clip. When wearing jeans, I typically carry a Benchmade Contego or Presidio II, Spyderco Military, Mannix XL, or PM2. I've thought about trying to find a belt pouch or sheath- what do you think of these? The knife wouldn't be as easy to get to... Thank you, Jim.

My newest favorite carry is the Civivi Brazen, along with the Victorinox Classic, which has been on my Keychain for about 30 years. I will never be without the Classic due to its toothpick & phenominal tweezers, which can remove the most impossibly embedded foreign object from your body.

    EDC:
Keychain - Rambler; in pocket - Skeletool CX; IWB: TOPS CUT 4.0 or Street Scalpel 2. Sometimes I add my PM2 or Victorinox Pioneer just so that they get some pocket time. So, on most days it is 2 multitools and 1 knife. 2+2 / 3+1 / 3+2 if the mood strikes.
When i travel to Europe / Singapore / Middle East for work, i just carry a pioneer X or Huntsman on me as they are cheap and easy to replace if they are confiscated. As someone who has EDC'd some or the other blade since I was 7, it does bug me to not have my tools on me

  • @handsomezack2333

I daily carry a Leatherman Knifeless Rebar and a Ruike M21-B as my SAK stand-in. Both ride in a leather belt holster because I ran out of pocket space. I also keep a dedicated folder in one of my pockets, and a flashlight in the other.
I can usually take apart whatever I need to with just the multitools, and the Ruike handles food prep or handoff duties that I don't want to subject my folding knife to. Once the Leatherman Arc gets to be more available I might look into replacing the Rebar, but I like having a "pure tool" multitool for the meantime and those scissors see tons of use.

    Typical Daily Loadout;
Victorinox Deluxe Tinker, I rarely need EDC pliers larger than that. Case Large Stockman for use in public places so I don't freak anyone out. Benchmade 810 Contego clipped in the right pocket for quick draw/emergency use, and a Spyderco Native 5 lightweight with Spyder Edge clipped on the left belt loop for ambidextrous draw if needed. I also sometimes carry a tactical flashlight or expandable baton, depending on my surroundings.

You made me count them…. 7. Yes, seven. SAR Classic, Gerber Compact Sport multi-tool I’m never without. A box cutter for work. An EDC White River Caper. Plus an Opinel #10 (with corkscrew) for emergency pic-nics. A Bear and Sons stainless lock back, slim and light. Plus my latest, a Lionsteel M4, of magnacut. (Obsess much?). Edit: During winter, with my vest on, add three more. A Cold Steel Super Edge, and a Kyoto Tanto. Plus a Dirty Bird Fox Mod III.

I most often carry a PM2, Para3, or Manix lw S110v as my primary, and a SAK Alox Bantam in my edc wallet as a backup. On a similar note, I carry a Leatherman Signal or a Gerber MP400 as a primary multitool, and my Bantam as a backup. The 4 tools in one are invaluable on the Bantam. I also rotate in my TRM Neutron, Osborne, and ZT0770CF in my edc wallet on days I don't want a pocket-mounted knife (pocket retention is a challenge on these). I also rotate my TRM Holy Nerd and Spyderco Lil Native in the few scenarios where I need a compliance knife. Lastly, when I don't want a belt-mounted multitool, I will put my Knipex Cobra pliers in my edc pouch next to my Bantam.

Hi DCA, going back through the videos and came across this one and had to put my carry in...
Leatherman free p2 on my belt , super tinker Swiss army in my pocket organiser, gerber dime on my keys and a CRK Sebenza 31 small in my pocket. If I have my bag with me the add a gerber suspension, a cjrb crag and a utility knife (normally a crescent) to the mix.
Might be overkill but I know I have the right one for any job I encounter

I EDC a OKC Rat 1 every day, and on my key chain I carry a Victorinox SD and a Nite Ize Doohickey. I end up using the Doohickey for most of my box opening/prying/screwdriving/bottle opening needs. It's not the best at any of those things, but it's the most convenient and gets through TSA every time. The SD is carried almost exclusively for the scissors and gets through TSA most of the time.

I always have at least one knife on my person, usually clipped in my right back pocket, the brand varies. If I’m wearing cargo pants, I will have a small multi-tool in the right cargo pocket. My favorite multi-tool was a Leatherman PS4 but it is lost/misplaced. In its place I now carry a Victorinox Farmer X alox. In my truck I keep a Victorinox multi-tool and a Morakniv. If I’m traveling I usually pack a Leatherman Wave plus another folder or 2. So depending on where I am at the time, I could have anywhere from 1 to 7 knives with me.

SAK Rambler is always on my keychain, thus always on me when going out the door. If its a quick jaunt, then my Leatherman SideClip is clipped within my pocket. But on a full EDC loadout, the SAK Rambler in pocket with keys, Leatherman Wave on belt, and my newly acquired Cold Steel Air Lite drop point in front pocket. This two mulit-tool combo with an over 3" blade folder has been my triple blade EDC for over a decade.

I have an alox minichamp suspended in my LF pocked and a single blade folder in the RF. Plus a neck knife and a swisschamp. The swisschamp lives in a multi-pocket Stashbandz medical belt I use for my insulin pump. The medical belt also carries glucose tablets and lighter plus has an empty 4th pocket. All my keyrings have classic sd's. Various medical issues pretty much dictate carrying one of three different packs whenever I leave the house. Each pack has at least 1 fixed blade, 1 multitool and a box cutter.

Through the process of determining my EDC, right now, I'm at 2 knives daily -- An assisted opening (right now a Kershaw Scallion) for quick one-handed opening and a Victorinox Midnite Manager on my keychain. (Although I use a KeySmart keychain which has some tool layers on it as well.) The Midnite Manager has a small LED light (although I often carry a brighter light too) and a pen in the scales and the small "combo" Phillips tool. The rest is the same as the Classic SD, with small blade, scissors and file/flathead screwdriver.
However, I still will either carry a Compact via suspension clip (typically when I don't carry an assisted opening).Or add a CyberTool or SwissCamp via a horizontal carry leather belt holster, for a total of 3 knives/multitools (typically when I go for a hike or plan on needing a driver). At one point in the process of determining my EDC I'd carry all of the above, the Midnite Manager, flipper (tried a lot of different types), my Compact, and the larger SAK via horizonal holster). But, this is a lot of extra bulk that I wasn't using, so it's been whittled down as I've come to find what works for me.
It's still a process though. So, I do change things up occasionally, and based on what I find I need or don't need, might change this in the future.

  • @Regolith86

    I usually carry 3 - a folder, a multitool, and a keychain knife.
Most days I'm carrying a Victorinox Cybertool M for the multitool, a Hogue Deka with the Wharncliffe blade in 20CV for the folder, and a Victorinox Manager for my keychain knife.
If I'm going to be doing things outdoors I change out the Cybertool for a Work Champ, and sometimes I carry a different folder, but that's my standard EDC for the moment.

Hey David, here's my Knife question of the week; I am a lefty, and the ambidextrous-ness of a knife is a make or break characteristic for me. My question is, what knives are strictly left-hand biased rather than right hand biased or ambidextrous? The only ones I'm aware of are knives made specifically in left hand or right hand like a lefty CRK or lefty PM-2 but what I'm looking for is something like a Victorinox one hand trecker which has a backwards linerlock and is easier to engage left-handed than right-handed.

Bradford Guardian 3.5 Magnacut in a Kydex taco sheath with "pull the dot" loop straps on the front of my belt horizontally. In my pocket is a Hogue Deka 2 in Magnacut.
For very little weight and hassle, you have a good slicer and something heavier duty. I have an embarrassing number of knives, but this has been my daily carry for almost 2 years.
I do leave a large camp knife in my truck and a SAK, and a Skrama, Leatherman Charge, and Silky saw in my general woods backpack.
Basically I just aim to never get stuck without options.

My EDC at work is two knives and a multitool. Kershaw Leek as my primary blade, Kershaw Kuro Tanto for when I need a beefier blade that I can use as a chisel or small pry bar or just generally abuse, and a cheapo multitool my sister-in-law got me for like $15 just to have pliers and screwdrivers at my disposal. When I’m not at work I usually just have the Kershaw Leek on me.

I carry three almost all the time. Knife #1 clipped in the left pocket (Lefty), #2 right side carpenter pants pocket on side, #3 in my right side pocket (slipjoint).
#1- CRK Umnumzaan, Hinderer XM-18, ZT 0308, Microtech Stitch, Demko AD20, Microtech Glycon or Protech TR3. (Most often these, but could be any of dozens depending on need or mood).
#2- Cold Steel Silver Eye, Cold Steel Recon 1 spear or Cold Steel Code 4. The theme here being tough knives that are thin and not too heavy for their size.
#3- Pena X-Series Apache slipjoint, Jack Wolf Venom, Benchmade Proper, Victorinox Ranger, Camper, S18, or a SOG PowerPint.
Sometimes, but rarely I scout carry a Bradford Guardian 3.

I only choose one folder a day and rarely use it. I’m not in construction or whatever and I don’t need a Bat Belt to make it through my day :)
I have carried two when in the office just because I like bigger knives in general but if I actually need a knife in that environment, a baby banter is typically more suitable than a 4+” wicked blade for out in the world.

Question for a future video what’s the best sheath you’ve ever seen, I’ve carried a CAT knife and that sheath is so versatile in how you can adjust it it makes carrying it a so much better experience than any other fixed blades I’ve owned do you have any good recommendations for good edc fixed blades with a emphasis on non intrusive sheathes?

Great video as always! I happen to carry 2 multitools on the regular. Leatherman Wave+ as well a SAK, not quite sure which model but it has a corkscrew. Those along with a folder are my usual rotation. Though lately i've been carrying a slipjoint.

Depends on what I am doing that day. Sometimes one, usually two, often three, occasionally four, rarely five or more.
One is whatever I grab quick in the morning, EDC or multi-tool.
Two is an EDC and a muti-tool.
Three is two plus a good fixed blade or utility knife or food prep blade.
Four is three plus a big fixed blade or machete.
Five or more is above plus what bag(s) I grab. Maybe up to 8 blades, or more.
But most of the time is two or three.

Currently got 23 folders in my Boker knife vault, so the numbers go up dramatically if that's in my bag...
Usually 2; 3 if you include a little keyring knife... 4+ if you're going to start counting multitools though!

Everyday for me, Victorinox Ranger Grip 78 and Condor Otzi. if I want to add a third for pocket, Blade-Tech U.L.U… if I add a sheath knife, Coldsteel Bushman Bowie, or a custom 8in blade, if I add a second sheath knife, Condor Cavelore. Another often option for me is a 3.25in fixed custom (for belt or pocket)… and I carry, when not just my EDC, any combination or number from that typical selection group for me, and a fixed and folder of notable mention that might be a carry for me, in all the possibilities, Helle Didi Galgalu and WE Big Banter

It varies from 2-3 and has a Leatherman in my backpack. Never just one!
I always have a smaller folder (cold steel prolite) in my front R pocket and a more oversized folder in my back mini pocket (cold steel SR1lite). Condor jeans have a folder pocket on the rear right hip. Then I carry a small fixed cross-draw kydex. Usually Tops MSK

I daily carry 1 robust folder ( currently the CJRB Resource) then the Milwaukee fastback with serrated blades and the driver. In my daily carry bag I have my Leatherman wave in a kydex clip and carry holster for easy transition from bag to belt when needed. To accompany the wave I also have a small bit container with the Leatherman ratchet driver and a nice compliment of most used bit’s inside as well.

I will usually have 2 items on me - a main knife and then a multi-tool. Haven't carried more that I can think of. And as far as a knife being an instrument, if you have, say, 2 knives that have spoons built in, you can play spoons!

I carry 2-3. A larger, more HD/tactical folder, a backup or main cutter (usually a cru-wear PM2), and oftentimes my K390 Endura4 because it's just so slicey, wear resistant, and light for what it is. I have several more in my work backpack but those are just for fun or just in case - these include a fixed blade, a backup folder (clip point CS Voyager), and a Leatherman Charge.

My go-to Multitool is a custom Victorinox Yeoman along with a "small/large" pairing of folders. I practically never need pliers in my day to day so I stopped carrying pliers based tools. The small/large pairing started because I work in retail and wanted a small knife that customers wouldn't find threatening while on the sales floor and still wanted a larger more robust knife for cutting through things like plastic strapping.

What I carry depends on what I’m doing. I usually carry only one EDC knife on most days. If I am going shopping I will carry a smaller knife (three inch or less). If I’m working in the yard I often carry a fixed blade and a Skeletool or a Leatherman P4.

I always have a pocket knife of some kind. Often an Opinel. I always have a Gerber multitool in my day pack as well. I have done whole service calls with either the Gerber or one of the former Leathermen tools. Come to think of it there is a smaller Lowes branded multitool in a zipper tool pouch in the pack as well.

Hi DCA, got a niche fixed blade question for you. I’m looking for a fixed balde that will live in the drawer next to the recycling bin to open and break down cardboard boxes. My requirements are: 1) a handle with girth and limited hot spots for comfort during heavy push cuts through thick cardboard 2) a sheep’s foot/ wharnclife blade 3) full flat or almost full flat grind, and 4) as high abrasion resistance as possible (I’m hoping for K390 or something similar). Got any recs?

Leatherman wave+ in heritage leather sheath in belt next to kabar TDI, Leatherman skeletool with keys and a Leatherman style cs clipped in pocket and a microtech ultratech in magnacut next to my big idea design titanium click pen and it's not a knife but I also carry a SIG P365 XL. When you often work in the middle of nowhere and have to access utility right off ways on private property it's better to be prepared. Two pliers helps when you don't have your tool bag.

I often cary the evogrip s17, or, if camping, maybe a rangergrip 79, instead of the huntsman, and I use a skeletool cx. you could get better steel with an mkm campo, obviously, but I'm not sure fire ant stuff is compatible?. I find the wave is a little on the heavy side- I've been begging leatherman to upgrade the skeletool, and maybe even make a larger version. The SAK is in large part for the saw and firemaking add-ons. The idea is edc, but with some survival capability. I live in a very cold rural place. Thanks for taking up the issue :)

Left pants pocket, right pants pocket, both jacket pockets, shirt pocket. If I were rational they would all be the same model for muscle memory, but I like the differences so they are all different, favorites are Luzon and Ti Lite 4”, both are barely as long as kitchen paring knives but pretty good for pocket knives. Luzon is better on a rotisserie chicken, but the super narrow Ti Lite blade is much lighter. The Ti Lite is also safer because the narrow nuns are less likely to open the knife from accidental jostling while the wider cross hilt on the Luzon has jostled open on me. So I hairband it shut (easier to tug off than a rubber band).
Voyager 4” is a fine runner up.

I generally carry two knives every day. One small knife that fits in the palm of my hand (variety of brands) and a larger (2.75" -- 3.25")locking blade in a side pocket. I prefer Cold Steel locking knives, but I have other brands. While I prefer using a larger blade, sometimes it just seems inappropriate to pull it out to open a box or cut something up --- like when there are others looking on... And the difference between a pocket knife and a fish? A pocket knife has just two scales.

I keep a small belt knife where a buckle would go, gerber dime in my pocket, boker kaizen gentleman’s knife in my carpenter pocket, and Leatherman charge tti on my left hip. All 4 blades I use for different things. Belt knife is fast defense, boker for letters and similar, dime blade for things you generally don’t want to ding up a nicer blade with, Leatherman blade for heavier duty cutting. I only just now realized I carry 4 blades jeez.
