as the Late Great Neal Campbell would say, " fellas sure row pretty. But lose when the gun goes off". I have seen over the years some crews that look dreadful when competing, absolutely atrocious in the shell. But they put their oars into the water with great intent and deliver speed to the shell. Pretty is pretty, but winning is what the intent is. Basically, if the sum of the parts balance out, and the team members aren't slowing down the shell. Being pretty or looking like a Chinese Fire Drill doesn't much matter. Speed and not screwing up the run of the shell across the water is what you trying to achieve.

About the rowing or the swimming?
If the rowing, your first sessions on the water are going to be terrible, these guys make it look easy. Just don't be put off, keep training, keep persevering, and enjoy :)

about rowing, sort out your blade height thats the most important thing. next most important thing is coming up to the catch and feathering correctly. then you must spend lots and lots of time steady stating until your mind figures out the technique that works the best. always have tape and band aids for your fingers always.

what type of oars are they using

Newer seen steer pedal on a back rower foot. Any reason for that? What r pros n cons than the front strokeman who has better overview of direction jus pointing an eye on a rudder stern doesn't directs the ⛵ boat? This way the windbreaker - back rower has to always look back behind his ruck wobbling the boat speed n balance, right?

Usually they compete on straight races so you Don t need to turn around to see. Just go straight. Obviously it depends on if it s bow or stroke rigged and who prefers to steer

@@dario8982 This usually happens because you're tensing up your arms too much or when not applying enough pressure on the oar at the right times.

jim LEHMN in a slow rythm, this is very important. However when you start picking up speed you can get away with just the arms allowing you to up your s/m.
