There is nothing that Dilraba can do. She can’t afford disobeying her company (that is her BOSS) if they want her to accept the award. She is not personally responsible for the corruption of these award shows and the entire entertainment industry. Sure, she can continue to improve her acting skills to actually deserve the ‘Best Actress Award’. But then again, she never demanded that award or robbed it from Yangzi’s hands in the first place. She’s just an employee and scapegoat of a corrupted company (that’s just like all other companies in the Chinese entertainment industry).

Wow...there are so many Dilraba fans commenting, and why is Yang Zi getting so much hate??? I like both actresses, and honestly, while I loved Dilraba's roles and acting in Diamond Lover, that was honestly the ONLY roles I liked her in. I don't particularly think her acting is necessarily any better or more versatile than Yang Zi, especially comparing this year. Definitely not putting either of them down, but I feel like a lot of the comments are missing the point a bit.
Dilraba has a much larger fanbase especially internationally. Yang Zi's dramas don't usually get subbed -- look how long it took for Viki to take on Ashes of Love -- so it's no wonder more English speakers on here will have seen more of Dilraba's dramas and think she's more versatile. I agree, not sure why there is so much hate on Yang Zi. It's a bit unfair since many are comparing the few shows they've seen her in when she's been in the industry since she ways five and definitely has a wide range of roles under her belt.

Sure Reba probably was not as good as the other nominees (Sun Li & Yin Tao) but its a shame that most people have responded to this mishap with "Reba is just a pretty face with no talent whatsoever." Cuz, that simply isn't true!!...she has immense talent and potential that can be tapped into if challenged. I really feel like she's one of the best at acting with her eyes. Love yang zi acting even though she is not considered “beautiful”. Dilreba’s beauty blew me away when I saw her, but acting is lacking so I rarely finish her dramas. I think she is improving though. I’m glad yang zi did not win that award since as you stated, it’s such a damn silly award anyways. Lol But anyways, this is why I don’t watch award shows. Its popularity vs talent.

Yes, but I really think it's way more restricted in east asia. There's almost no concept of different types of beauty, and if you read any chinese forums the discussions about looks are so common, and they don't seem to feel that there's anything wrong in measuring each and every person by these random beauty standards, where basically only one type of face is beautiful and then you can see how well you score when measured against that one ideal. It's quite astounding, at least for me. Really in the west we at least find many different types of faces beautiful and there's also a tiny bit more space for different bodies.
skleroosis I got to agree to this. Eastern Asian is quite strict on how women should look. If you watch those plastic surgery video made while in Korean, the female crews r always more towards the ideal female look than the male crews to the ideal male look.

I didn't enjoy the Pretty Li Huizen but i really enjoyed King's woman and The Flame's Daughter. The king's woman had such a heavy plot line and she owned it. She deserves all of the recognition she receives. What i feel is wrong is opening the event as a goddess because they would always get hate for that.

This award thing can be fun but at some point judges seem not to be fair in the drawing. Liu Yifei 2006 - No doubt. Known as the most beautiful woman all across country and oversea for Chinese Paladin and Condor Heroes, music videos, etc. Li Xiaolu 2008 - She's famous but, probably more in 2002 for Legendary Brothers. Dragon Heroes 2006 was not a known show but she was really beautiful in it, so her award was still believable, nobody was fighting with her. Wang Luodan 2010 - Not famous at that time, more in the past like early 2000s but no one fighting with her yet too Liu Shi Shi 2012 - No doubt. Really famous, really beautiful. Equally talented like Liu yifei and resembles her too. It was a fight with Yang Mi, but it was a hard pick, both Liu Shi Shi and Yang Mi were equally popular at that time. Zhao Liying 2014 - She's famous, but it was a fight with Yang Mi, who was much much more famous at that time where Zhao Liying was still kind of not quite like Yang Zi right now yet. Yang Mi fans were unhappy, the suspicions of unfairness started at this point. Besides Yang Mi, lots of other actresses were much more popular too. Tang Yan 2016 - She's famous too, but well liked for only from 1 show which is Chinese Paladin 3 that is already back in 2009. Again, people expected, Yang Mi and other more famous actresses. Ashes of Love aired recently almost like at the last minute, so she finally rise to stardom but still later than Diliraba. So her fanbase is still smaller compared to Diliraba. There are other considerable actresses but still not as famous. Because everyone viewed 2016 as a cheated drawal from having connections with the judges, they just think 2018 judges are doing the same thing.

I really appreciate you talking about issues like this, and I can only agree with your opinions about this bizarre "mascot" thing. It's quite sad to see that no matter how good an actress is, or how long she's been in the industry, she still is just reduced to her appearance and everything else is mostly secondary, which is quite unfortunate for the women who want to be acknowledged for their skills. Instead they have to participate in involuntary beauty contests with peer actresses and deal with mass-hate for their every move. Dileraba was the most beautiful out of all the golden eagle godesses. Though it's definitely an award that pushes the idea that "beauty is the secret to success" which is not entirely the case. If you have no talent and wit, you won't last.

Yes, this is a persistent problem in much of the world (the "golden Calf" concept of idolizing people). I empathize! I've worked in the theatre industry in China, and although I feel TV and Film have shown more unrealistic and unhealthy demands for the actors/actresses on a physical appearance level, theatre also does so. I believe that China is experiencing some issues that North America may have experienced 50-60 years ago. In the long run, China is evolving so fast... it's barely been 100 years since the dynastic times, so in a sense, China is learning fast! It will take a while until women (and people in general) are confident and permitted to express their true opinions... and until materialism (both with things and physical appearance) is not the primary goal. But it will happen... as Napoleon Bonaparte said more than two centuries ago: "China is a sleeping lion. Let her sleep, for when she wakes she will shake the world."

Although it is probably worse in East Asian countries, Americans are really not very different in terms of having narrow beauty standards and being very judgmental about appearance. (The beauty standards may vary slightly from East Asian cultures, but again, not by much.) I don't have the means to compare, but Americans can also be pretty petty and vicious towards each other in comments sections, and in needlessly pitting certain celebrities against each other. Conversations over here about the negative aspects of this culture are perhaps more prominent, but it still seems to have had relatively little impact. I had no idea about awards shows in China, so this was a very interesting video.
I heard china competition among actresses is very fierce to get roles which is why plastic surgery is pretty common and just normal. Plastic surgery is also quite normal for female newscasters.

There is nothing that Dilraba can do. She can’t afford disobeying her company (that is her BOSS) if they want her to accept the award. She is not personally responsible for the corruption of these award shows and the entire entertainment industry.
Sure, she can continue to improve her acting skills to actually deserve the ‘Best Actress Award’. But then again, she never demanded that award or robbed it from Yangzi’s hands in the first place. I like both actresses, and honestly, while I loved Dilraba's roles and acting in Diamond Lover, that was honestly the ONLY roles I liked her in. I don't particularly think her acting is necessarily any better or more versatile than Yang Zi, especially comparing this year. Definitely not putting either of them down, but I feel like a lot of the comments are missing the point a bit.
Dilraba has a much larger fanbase especially internationally. Yang Zi's dramas don't usually get subbed -- look how long it took for Viki to take on Ashes of Love -- so it's no wonder more English speakers on here will have seen more of Dilraba's dramas and think she's more versatile. I agree, not sure why there is so much hate on Yang Zi. It's a bit unfair since many are comparing the few shows they've seen her in when she's been in the industry since she ways five and definitely has a wide range of roles under her belt.

Sure Reba probably was not as good as the other nominees (Sun Li & Yin Tao) but its a shame that most people have responded to this mishap with "Reba is just a pretty face with no talent whatsoever." Love yang zi acting even though she is not considered “beautiful”. Dilreba’s beauty blew me away when I saw her, but acting is lacking so I rarely finish her dramas. I think she is improving though. I’m glad yang zi did not win that award since as you stated, it’s such a damn silly award anyways. Lol But anyways, this is why I don’t watch award shows. Its popularity vs talent.

Yes, but I really think it's way more restricted in east asia. There's almost no concept of different types of beauty, and if you read any chinese forums the discussions about looks are so common, and they don't seem to feel that there's anything wrong in measuring each and every person by these random beauty standards, where basically only one type of face is beautiful and then you can see how well you score when measured against that one ideal. It's quite astounding, at least for me. Really in the west we at least find many different types of faces beautiful and there's also a tiny bit more space for different bodies.
skleroosis I got to agree to this. Eastern Asian is quite strict on how women should look. If you watch those plastic surgery video made while in Korean, the female crews r always more towards the ideal female look than the male crews to the ideal male look.

I didn't enjoy the Pretty Li Huizen but i really enjoyed King's woman and The Flame's Daughter. The king's woman had such a heavy plot line and she owned it. She deserves all of the recognition she receives. What i feel is wrong is opening the event as a goddess because they would always get hate for that.

This award thing can be fun but at some point judges seem not to be fair in the drawing.
Liu Yifei 2006 - No doubt. Known as the most beautiful woman all across country and oversea for Chinese Paladin and Condor Heroes, music videos, etc.
Li Xiaolu 2008 - She's famous but, probably more in 2002 for Legendary Brothers. Dragon Heroes 2006 was not a known show but she was really beautiful in it, so her award was still believable, nobody was fighting with her.
Wang Luodan 2010 - Not famous at that time, more in the past like early 2000s but no one fighting with her yet too
Liu Shi Shi 2012 - No doubt. Really famous, really beautiful. Equally talented like Liu yifei and resembles her too. It was a fight with Yang Mi, but it was a hard pick, both Liu Shi Shi and Yang Mi were equally popular at that time.
Zhao Liying 2014 - She's famous, but it was a fight with Yang Mi, who was much much more famous at that time where Zhao Liying was still kind of not quite like Yang Zi right now yet. Yang Mi fans were unhappy, the suspicions of unfairness started at this point. Besides Yang Mi, lots of other actresses were much more popular too.
Tang Yan 2016 - She's famous too, but well liked for only from 1 show which is Chinese Paladin 3 that is already back in 2009. Again, people expected, Yang Mi and other more famous actresses. But Yang Mi was married though and they probably only allow unmarried ladies. People viewed this as the point of a confirmed unfairness. Tang Yan was just chosen by judges instead of the audience.
Diliraba D. 2018 - She's famous too, but she has lots of fans only while many people don't like her acting. But like the description "most famous" it is true that it's got to be Diliraba. Fighting against Yang Zi, it was a hard pick. Yang Zi was around for a while but unable to star into a drama good enough to make her super star but just well known enough only. Ashes of Love aired recently almost like at the last minute, so she finally rise to stardom but still later than Diliraba. So her fanbase is still smaller compared to Diliraba. There are other considerable actresses but still not as famous.
Because everyone viewed 2016 as a cheated drawal from having connections with the judges, they just think 2018 judges are doing the same thing.

in 2018 golden eagle godess award yang zi was nominated for ode to joy 2 which has a douban rating of 5 something ,and dilraba was nominated for li hui zhen which have a rating of 4.6 something like that , moreover it was popularity contest ,based on general audience voting . yang zi wasn't nominated for ashes of love.people need to stop hating the actoress.

As of today, Reba is doing commercial represent for at least 30 different well known brands of industry. Because Reba is chosen and she is very beautiful, people assume that she wins because of her beauty. Well, a lot of magazines mention Reba is not only beautiful, but also she has great personality. She also join a lot of shows that gain her popularity.

Yes, this is a persistent problem in much of the world (the "golden Calf" concept of idolizing people). I empathize! I've worked in the theatre industry in China, and although I feel TV and Film have shown more unrealistic and unhealthy demands for the actors/actresses on a physical appearance level, theatre also does so. I believe that China is experiencing some issues that North America may have experienced 50-60 years ago. In the long run, China is evolving so fast... it's barely been 100 years since the dynastic times, so in a sense, China is learning fast! It will take a while until women (and people in general) are confident and permitted to express their true opinions... and until materialism (both with things and physical appearance) is not the primary goal. But it will happen... as Napoleon Bonaparte said more than two centuries ago: "China is a sleeping lion. Let her sleep, for when she wakes she will shake the world."

Although it is probably worse in East Asian countries, Americans are really not very different in terms of having narrow beauty standards and being very judgmental about appearance. (The beauty standards may vary slightly from East Asian cultures, but again, not by much.) I don't have the means to compare, but Americans can also be pretty petty and vicious towards each other in comments sections, and in needlessly pitting certain celebrities against each other. Conversations over here about the negative aspects of this culture are perhaps more prominent, but it still seems to have had relatively little impact. I had no idea about awards shows in China, so this was a very interesting video.
I heard china competition among actresses is very fierce to get roles which is why plastic surgery is pretty common and just normal. Plastic surgery is also quite normal for female newscasters.
