Liverpool is absolutely LOADED with things to do, but we'd honestly not known too much about the city outside of its football teams until we'd arrived. We quickly realized that this town is incredibly proud of its heritage & has long served as one of the most important parts of the UK.
We begin our day with a great cup of local coffee at Bold Street Coffee. BSC is relatively new having only been in operation since 2010, but don't let its age fool you. We absolutely loved our cups of coffee as well as our morning snacks to get us ready for the day. You can stop by this Liverpool location which is the original, or stop in at their other location if you're in the Manchester area.
We left Bold Street & immediately made our way to the Royal Albert Dock. Liverpool was a fairly small city for centuries until the 1700s when transatlantic trade put this place on the map. It’s strategically located at the mouth of River Mersey which feeds into the Irish Sea, making it a perfect gateway to the Americas & other reaches across the Atlantic. While it was known to trade all kinds of various goods, it was also a center for the slave trade. During this period a number of docks were built to facilitate the massive number of trade ships entering & exiting the city but none were as huge or significant to the city as Royal Albert Dock. This dock played a massive role in WW2 but has since been converted to a historical center since the 80s. You can come down here and tour a few of the museums in order to get a closer look at Liverpool’s history.
One of the museums that you can visit is the Merseyside Maritime Museum. This museum highlights the trade that took place on the River Mersey & spans multiple centuries of maritime history. One major reason we wanted to stop here was to see the Titanic Collection. I’ve always been fascinated by the story of Titanic so this & the museum in Belfast have been high on my list of things to do while we’re in Europe. While inside the museum, we also highly recommend going to the International Slavery Museum. It's a sobering reminder that the past was extremely tragic & shows us that we've come a long way, but still have much further to go.
After the museums, we had to make a stop for lunch. One thing that people probably didn’t know is that pirates frequented these docks. Nowadays there aren’t privateers or pirates operating out of Liverpool in this manner, but there’s a cool little restaurant that centers around the pirate’s life called Smuggler’s Cove. We had some chicken skewers & cauliflower wings & they were TO DIE FOR. This will definitely be somewhere we come back to when we visit Liverpool again.
After our delicious lunch we were looking for a way to burn off some of those lunch calories & figured the Liverpool Cathedral would be the perfect place to cleanse ourselves of the crazy pirate life. The Liverpool Cathedral has free admission & at 619 feet it’s the longest cathedral in the world. This is definitely one of the best cathedrals we've seen!
We tried to make it to the Beatles museum, but unfortunately it closed earlier than we anticipated. So we chose to have an early dinner at the Baltic Market. I think it’s safe to say that our favorite type of night out is at a market so this seemed like the perfect place for us to eat. There are only 9 vendors currently, but that’s more than enough for the two of us.
The Cavern Club is an iconic spot in central Liverpool. This is where the Beatles played regularly before they became global icons, so there’s no better way to wrap up the day than this. When we missed the Beatles Museum, we decided to take the money we'd planned to spend on that & instead spend it on 'Friday Night w/ The Beatles' in the Cavern Club. There's just no better way to wrap the day than that!!
Thank you so much for tuning in! Hopefully we were able to give you some inspiration for your next trip here. Please subscribe if you enjoyed & we'll see you in a few days!

I can actually say I have been to Liverpool and it's as cool as you showed. Another interesting fact on the cathedral (if I'm remembering correctly) the designer also designed the phone booths that you see in England. I loved the docks and all the Beatles stuff too. I'm happy you got to experience this.

We absolutely LOVED Liverpool!! We really didn't have a whole lot of expectation for it when we arrived but it reminded us so much of Nashville. There's so much music & nightlife. We really want to get back there at some point to visit the Beatles Museum though. That's the one thing that we felt like we really missed out on. And also, it'd be fun to catch a Liverpool match!! Thank you so much for watching our video!!❤️

Actually, (just had to say it!) I have been binge watching your videos and I love them all so far, you guys are such a nice couple, reminds me of my wife and myself laughing all the time and carrying on like kids (she passed away 5 years ago and I live in Austria since then), keep up the good work. Looking forward to more videos. I'll let y'all know how my trip was this coming weekend when I take Flixbus to Luxembourg. Take care.

This is seriously the greatest comment we've ever received. Thank you SO MUCH for your support, and we're so thankful to have you on this journey with us. That's the best part about all of this & the entire reason why we decided to do what we're doing. We just want to make as many memories with each other as we can. We can't wait to hear from you about your trip!!!

Thank you so much!!! Liverpool reminded us SO MUCH of Nashville. It felt like home, which was exactly what we've been needing lately!!! Especially the street with the screaming girls & the live music. Almost identical to Broadway, but a much smaller version for sure🤣
