Same here. My Seamaster 300 has an accuracy of about +0.2 sec per day. During nights it stands on the crown which seems to be the best "sleeping" position.
Same here. The Seamaster is more beautiful anyway but it's also a better watch because of the coaxial. I have a Seamaster 300m and a Planet Ocean for the same price as one inferior Submariner. No brainer 🤷♂️
Its funny that Omega sort of bothered to give his escapement a chance. Now it's their biggest selling point. It's the major reason Omega beats Rolex, other than price point.
I suspect the manufacturers understood the technical aspects of the co-axial but it was a question of investment return. If the cost of new machines to make the escapement didn't provide a large enough return (more watches sold, higher prices, etc) then it wouldn't make sense to use the co-axial escapement. Even if it's technically better, if you won't earn an acceptable return on the cost it's not worth the switch.
It's a crying shame he bothered to pursue omega. He liked the prestige. He had a thought of his own legacy that's the problem. If he hadn't the faintest idea of his own greatness. He would have brought the new escapement to the world 20yrs earlier with some Japanese maker who would bite his hands off. He also wanted to prove to the best Swiss makers that he's better than them. So he wasted 20yrs with them. And Now his name isn't even on all these coaxials. Real shame
What the fuck are you on about? Omega wasn’t the only Swiss watch manufacturer offered the co axial movement. Zenith and Rolex were too. Omega, however, were the only ones intelligent enough to use the lovely and good luck to them. They are an amazing watchmaker.

@@rage8kage I understand your point, but it's an unfortunate reality that "Swiss Made" is still considered by many to be the highest and most recognizable standard within horology. It consistently receives the most press, sales, and trust amongst consumers. Daniels also had uncompromising standards, and I believe he initially wanted to partner with a company that had more of an emphasis on quality over quantity to meet his exacting standards - and Grand Seiko wasn't a clear independent brand yet. For those reasons and more, I can understand Daniels' desire to to manifest his invention within the production of a prestigious Swiss company. Seiko would have done a good enough job with it, but since they were already developing the spring drive, Daniels' invention may have been overshadowed or under appreciated or simply not taken on. Not to mention, the fact that you can now buy a Speedmaster with a coaxial escapement is a fantastic conversion of horological importance and a win for enthusiasts
the japanese are much more nationalist and protectionist than the swiss. what george daniels describes here is rather minor compared to what you would experience in france or germany even today.
This movement is reason why I chose a Seamaster over a Submariner.

The Swiss "not invented here syndrome" was quite ironic since the lever escapement wasn't invented there anyway.

Its very innovative, but not a purely mechanical watch.
