@@ebonysanchez5640 I'm gonna have to try this! If I braid mine at night, I keep the pattern of the braid once I take it out (it's definitely a cute look, but it's not what I'm going for)
Put flaxseed gel at the ends and stop wetting them everyday also do not use water based products. Use a little oil if needed. The flaxseed gel will keep it moisturized. It will last longer without knotting at the ends
Hmmm ive never had this problem. I have 3b/3c fine hair, but i do my mini twist on blowdried hair. I put all my products in before i blowdry: wash, leave in, cream, oil, then i blow dry. & i twist my hair only adding a little gel to base & ends of hair to haip my roots tight & neat. With that method my hair stays moisterize & i never have to wet my hair. I loveee this style, super low maintenance for me.
I have fine type 4 color treated hair, I never have to retwist daily. But I do twirl my ends when I’m at the edge of my twists and I usually use a DIY whipped Shea Butter mix I make or Shea Moistures Coconut and Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie and I’d leave it in for 2-3 weeks before taking them down to wash. I use aloe vera juice to refresh them every couple of days and usually wear them in a half-up half-down style or parted to the side. It SOOO hard finding Fine hair Naturals on TH-cam 😭😭
I use pink oil moisturizer and blue magic hair grease. I have no problems at all. Also because my hair is fine I do bigger partings making the twist a tiny bit bigger
My hair is much more similar to Naptural85's than this youtuber...but what works best for coarse/thick/dense/3c-4a hair is twisting on blow dried hair, then after the twists are totally installed i spray my ends with aloe vera juice and add shea butter and gel to the ends to plump them up. I can leave them in for 4-6 weeks, retwisting the perimeter. i add butter to the ends every few days. bc i dont have fine hair my matting comes from leaving them in to long not them getting fuzzy. mine take about a month to get fuzzy. to take them out...the easiest thing is to coat the end of each twist in oil and then unravel.
Thank you for telling the truth about this style. I twisted my hair in mini twists three weeks ago and I had taken some of them down yesterday because my scalp was itching and some of my twists were almost matted. It had taken all night (12 hours with over 150 twists) to install the mini twists and three hours to take down half my twists. My shoulder is still sore from doing my hair weeks ago. Also, my hair was shedding a lot with this style. I am going back to my medium two strand twists. I may twist my hair in even larger twists now.
Thank you for this video, it's good to finally see a youtuber with fine natural hair. I was going to give up on doing twists but this video has given me hope, I'll try once again but this time on unstreched hair, without any gel. I find that gel tends to wear my hair down. Your twists are beautiful by the way.
Hi I recently installed mini twists in my natural hair using creme of nature pure honey twisting cream and cream of nature organ oil curl and hold custard n both together works well my type 4 hair
I actually didnt wash my hair with these. that clip was from a previous video and in that video i wash with a co wash not shampoo. thanks for watching 💖
I do mini twist on my hair. It’s thin as well. I haven’t twisted my entire head yet. I do some flat twist or ponytail bun in the front and minis in the back. I love this style. It has been trail and error with products. I’ve used eco styler, lotta body custard and foam wrap. Then God blesses me with As I am twist defining cream. It gave a great hold. I tried a twist out with that and it didn’t work. I used the Aunt Jackie’s flaxseed don’t shrink. It was amazing for the twist out. So I tried it for my mini twist. It was great. They both give a great turn out just depends how long I will keep them. Aunt Jackie’s last longer.
Fellow fine hair chick here! I did mini twists a few weeks ago and I really loved them. I didn’t shampoo them though. I used Mielle Pomegranate & Honey leave-in and Twisting Soufflé. My twists maintained perfectly for 5 days until I transitioned to a twist out. 👍🏾👍🏾
Thanks for being honest for us fine hair curlies. I love mini twists but could never wear them for as long as I’ve seen others wear them. My max for mini twists is two weeks, if I can get to three weeks it’s a miracle. The ones in the back start to tangle up and it starts being more harmful than helpful. On the plus side, there no twist out better than the takedown from mini twists 😊
Wow, good looking out. I never worn mini twists. I wear mini braids instead. I was always afraid to try twists since I wash my hair once a week. Twists seems like they may either get tangled or unravel. My hair is kind of fine as well.
You gotta protect this protective style with a protective style, I just put mine in today, did them on dry combed out hair, I moisturized two days before so I could comb it out added oils when styling so it wouldn't shrink back up, they came out great
I love you!!! You keep it real! I feel like a lot of the diy styles don’t work for me but now I see what it can be like for others like me and how to modify! Thank you thank you thank you for being real with us !! 🙌❤️
Yes, I tried the mini twist tutorials and the result was not the same. It had hours to install and it hours to take down. I am learning to go with my regular hair regimen because every style is different on each person's hair.
Thanks for being honest about this style turning into knots and or tangles. I think I tried micro twists once and I remember how my hair tangled and knotted badly while trying to take down the twists. I wanna rock these during this coming Summer, but afraid to do it super small like the way yours. I have fine strands, high porosity and medium density.
So far when I want to cleanse my hair I use apple cider vinegar one part to 3 Parts water works really well for me. If I try to lather my hair with a shampoo that promotes a lot of frizz. Also I usually stick with using mousse on my hair and maybe just a little bit of shea butter on the ends if it starts getting frizzy or I need to retwist. I notice when I start off with just a moose and the shea butter on the ends of my hair my hair stays moisturized and doesn't have residue it also stays pretty smooth. And that has nothing to do with my hair texture because I have High porosity hair. I'm still trying to treat my hair as I would if I didn't have it twisted also just to change up. I'll bantu knot flat twist pineapple flexi rods etc. Just to keep it popping 😉
I use African pride loc and twist gel on my mini twist and they DO NOT unravel. I’ve gon 3 weeks with my mini twist looking fresh, I only took them out bc my scalp was on fire, the product was really heavy and I was putting it on my scalp. The only downside to it is that being as though it’s a heavy product it will weight your hair down and make your twist look dull and thin, I don’t have the highest density of my hair but I have a good amount of density, and it made my hair look like it was low density. I would recc the product, but a little goes a long way, if u don’t use as a lot u shouldn’t run into the problems I did.
How do I do low maintenance mini twists and leave them in for ages if my hair and scalp gets dry and uncomfortable without product. is regular oil and water good for every 2 days or something else?
My twist never looks like this I'm trying to grow out my hair but mines just get puffier after I twist it I'm really trying my best to learn how to do it
Moisturize well...pull back into a loose bun, or a pineapple and just leave them alone...if u play in them and leave them loose, they will unravel and tangle. The look good the older they get too
Your mini twists are beautiful 😍 I don't have these problems with mine but I definitely could understand your frustration! I have similar problems with finger coils.
NeliaBedilia yes! My hair used to be right at my ears and now it’s almost at the middle of my back. I just switched back to twists. Also I forgot to comment, the reason they get nappy like that is because that’s how some people start their loc process so when you leave the twists untouched without combing them they start to loc up ( if you didn’t already know ). I redo mine 1-2 times a month and I use a Shea butter and coconut oil mixture. Works really good for my hair!
I have really fine hair a lot finer then yours, and used to love mini twist, but I only keep them in a few weeks at a times . I don't want my hair to loc permanently, I had locs before, so I know after a month my hair with start to matt and lock up. I definitely understand the futrastion, but it seems most natural hair styles don't work on my hair , and pulls my hair out. Natural hair is frustrating period.
it can be frustrating but i love learning about it ! you've learned so much about your hair that's so awesome! always happy to meet fine hair natural folks 🤗❤️
i would look at the products you're using. i try to use something that's tacky and will have a good grip like an edge control texture. make sure your hair is clean as well. hope that makes sense!
Few things, with love; Don’t wet your hair when they are in twist, makes the matting and knots worst. Stop running your fingers thru them like that Use a satin wrap at night not a bonnet to keep them from rubbing them together all night. Last thing, THEY ARE WAYYY TOO SMALL, in my humble opinion.
What I find to be helpful is to put my mini twists into 2-4 plaits at night, so my hair stays organized, moisturized and overall much less matted.
Definitely a great tip and something I do when I'm not being lazy haha thanks for watching!
I have found flat twisting them works really well to keep them moist and stretch them.
@@ebonysanchez5640 I'm gonna have to try this! If I braid mine at night, I keep the pattern of the braid once I take it out (it's definitely a cute look, but it's not what I'm going for)

Candice Myles , I do my twist on blow dried hair. I love how it stretches on dry hair.
How long do you keep the twists in before you take it out?
I have the same problem because I have fine hair as well. I do not wash or cowash mine during this style. I leave mine in for 3 weeks each time
ugh the fine hair struggles! lol and yes 3 weeks seems like a good length of time!!
I shot myself doing my mini twist after watching this video. Checkout my super thin hair struggles th-cam.com/video/9h_8CUiIPkU/w-d-xo.html
I think these are the problems of finer hair because I don't have to retwist mine unless I want a tighter look
As I state in the video this is for my fine textured hair but thanks for watching! 💖
@@NeliaBedilia oops I wasnt coming for you 👐🏾 just watching the video and had an opinion.. be blessed 😘

I use grease to twist my mini-twist. I have thick kinky curly hair and I make sure to braid the root so my hair does not lock up.
read my mind! i plan on trying a little bit of grease on my next set. thanks for watching !!
Thank you for these tips. I need to try this with my twists.
I just did this. Grease actually smooths it and holds like a light gel
Same! I used a good leave in conditioner, a botanical gel, and grease.
I use pink oil moisturizer and blue magic hair grease. I have no problems at all. Also because my hair is fine I do bigger partings making the twist a tiny bit bigger

When my twists randomly started unraveling, I just let them. It gave them the boho look and was awesome.

Hufflepuff For Life i have a whole playlist that can teach you! check it out under "mini twists"
to prevent the roots from matting/knotting, start by plaiting the mini section then start to twist after like 9 plaits
this is what i do but yes it's a great technique. thanks!
This was SUPER helpful. Thank you
Uss aloe vera juice every other day. My hair is very fine but dense. I get mines done every 6 weeks.
