    1. Hammer your stake into the ground until it is firmly in place.
    2. Extend Tripod legs according to your height.
    3. Roughly center the legs over the point, keeping the top of the tripod level (visually).
    4. Set one leg firmly into the ground.
    5. Place tribrach with optical plummet onto the tripod and screw into place.
    6. Holding the other two tripod legs and looking through the optical plummet, place your crosshair on the point
    7. Set the other two legs firmly in place.
    8. Adjust the same two legs to roughly level the instrument using the bubble.
    9. Translate (without rotation) the base of the instrument (or tribrach) until it is perfectly centered.
    10. Repeat steps 7-8 as necessary.
    11. Place GPS receiver, Total Station, Scanner, or Reflector onto the tribrach and screw firmly in place.
