      @@cx1291 choose the program that works best for you. You can crop and resize in many programs. This is just one of many options in life. It’s even possible to crop on a phone. So if that’s all you need to do and not crop and image in a canva design. Then just do that. Or.
      You could print it off and get a pair of scissors ✂️ just make sure you stay safe and have fun 🤩

      Good question! You can copy and paste the same way in to a different size. But you will need to edit and move the layout a bit more.

    Very helpful tips! Thank you! I am using a mockup element for my design, but the element isn't the same size as the canvas behind it. When I dragged the element and tried to enlarge it to fit the whole canvas, it didn't let me do so. Any solution for that?

      It will depend on the size of the frame on the mockup. The old mockup website used to give the dimensions needed, but I can't see these in Canva. I'll give this feedback.

      @@DarrenM I'm also having the same problem! I'm using a frame template that I want to drag to resize horizontally but it won't let me do that :( it won't allow me to change the aspect ratio and drag the template from the sides, even though I have pro!

    Hi, Darren thanks for your post. I am trying to resize a blanket design to specifications requested by Printify 6299 x 5276 "50 x60" but Canva says it dosent do these sizes arghhh! It is my first sale requesting the blanket too lol great start...ps I have pro and I dont have the resize button where you have yours? it says magic switch...Noticed this is year old but still I cant find how to do this size
    any help appreciated

      You could try magic expand to fill the background.

    So the only way to resize the canvas in Canva Free is to start a new project & paste in the old elements & resize THEM.

    Resize existing Design: When you use custom size the canvas does not change but only the content. How do we change the canvas too?

      You can use resize in Canva Pro or you have to create a new design and copy it across.

    Thank you for this video. I use Pro for the business I work for. I've resized my template for a facebook event cover but the dashed frame (not sure what it is called) on the template shrunk and the design is not fitting within that. Not only the text but the images as well are cut off. HELP!

      So sometimes it will depend on the elements that are being used. You might need to adjust or swap out certain ones.

      Yes. If you have pro 45 day trial in description. You can just use resize and it does the whole document. Otherwise it will be one page at a time using the option in this video.

    I'm trying to make a banner that is 3 feet by 8 feet. The resizing won't allow me to go that big. Is this just not possible in Canva or am I missing something?

      Speak to who is doing your printing and see what size they need the image, it’s not normal to have an image the actual size. Hope that helps.

      Hey, Under the menu where you resize. The current document size is shown. You can also export the file and check the file information.

    I have Pro but when I resize, it changes the size smaller...not matter what size I click to resize it to. If I try and resize again (trying to correct it), it makes it even smaller. What am I doing wrong?

      That’s interesting to hear. What are you resizing from and to? I’ll have to test. In many cases the Resize option is there as a guide and will require some tweaking.

    Thank you for your informative video. I have the pro and did a resize for a label I am making. It seems that all my font sizes have become smaller. Can you do a resize and keep the original font size? Also do I download the resize design to PDF to print a high quality? Thank you.

      PDF for print will give you a higher quality. With regards to the font size, it will change according to the size of the document. There’s often some tweaking needed though.

    Can I change my 11.69 x 8.27 into a 8.5 x 8.5?? Will this able to be done on canva pro?

      Hi, you can change it, but given there is also a ratio difference between the two documents, you may need to adjust the positioning of elements slightly.

      Glad this was helpful for you. Make sure you don't have items already grouped, as you can't group already grouped items in Canva.

    I have a small question, i can't find the solution, -> how to resize an element from Canva? I mean, change his dimensions? For example a frame, sometimes i want a bigger lenght but not wide (or reverse!).... It seems the ratio is locked. it seems so simple, but i can't figure out how to do, so frustrating!! Thank you!

      So frames are locked in ratio and no way to change them. But you could use a grid instead or make your own custom frame.

    Is there a way to resize manually (without putting the exact pixels) the Canvas to delete the white space or transparent space on custom designs? Always that I make a custom design in Canva I need to go to photoshop to cut the borders of it

      You just need to drag the images and elements about to better fit the canvas. There’s no need to put anything in to photoshop.

      It sure is. Just use the resize option in Canva (if you have pro) or create a blank doc the size you want and copy the info over. It will need some tweaking to get it correct.

      @@isabelrodriguesale is your image attached to the background. If you double click the image, you’ll be able to adjust the size. If the image is wide than it is taller it will naturally not fit the frame. If you want the full image, you can right click and detach from the background. This will allow you to size an image are you want.

    Thanks this was very useful.
    But how do you re-size the design to a certain size for printing? Ie. resize a Facebook post to 4x6” print?
    Also how do I make my design have bleed for printing?

      Often it doesn’t need to be a full size. Speak to your printer and ask them what resolution size image and format they need it in. Often print for pdf is best.

    I cant get my paperback 8.5 x 11 template to fit canvas in Canva grrr it just wont stretch to fit without it losing a top or bottom

      You shouldn't need to make the image that large. Speak to your printers and ask them the file size they need.

      Just change the size of the board by creating a custom size project and then add your image to that. You can't upscale your images though.

    Not sure what went wrong, but when I used the Pro resize button to IG as I said it moved the elements. Trying to remember what I did. Anyway, I will check next time. 🙈

      This isn't an option in Canva, so that's why he didn't do this. :-) The only way is on Canva pro to export at a lower quality. You might be best off with a service like tiny jpeg or some other image-shrinking program. :-)

    I wanted to resize the canvas/artboard that I’m actually designing on. Guess I’ll just render it and crop it in photoshop.

      There's no manual way to adjust the exiting artboard, you would have to create the size you want and then copy and paste all the elements over. It would be nice if they could create a crop artboard feature.
