    Hi Mike. Lately I've been following your channel. Congratulations! I'm an engineer deeply involved in complex engineering projects and by listening your words I just want to let the world know that there are not many people in the automotive area that know exactly what they are talking about, as you do. Not only knowing, meaning having the precise knowledge (that lead to quality engineering), but also explaining it Cristal clear. Keep it going please, the world need doers like you. Cheers.

    What a down-to-earth way of informing we poor folks here online! Really appreciate it. There are others of course, and sadly, you aren't on this side of "The Pond," though your commentary is kind and straightforward. Not a lot of guesswork. Really appreciate the video about self-maintaining as cost effectively as possible. Over here we have one British car shop in the state of Arizona that I know of, mostly they use "genuine parts" that run a lot of money - bonnet and hatch, door struts, cabin and air filters, tune up kits, oil filters and O-seals/gaskets, yet you are relaxed about how to go about this stuff. I'm glad that these cars are not laden with all the electronic gizmos that current Porsches have as their developmental phase was long ago. The analog nature of much of how the mid-2000 Vantage V8 cars have is also nice because it inspires the owner to learn how to drive the thing instead of having a nanny telling you when to back off. I've subscribed to your site and have reminders installed as well. Thank you kindly.

    Thanks Mike as always. That's a neat trick and I've just tried that works first time thank you And I've just checked my manual and it's not as clear as Bamford Rose

    I find your channel very informative just wished I lived closer for servicing. I lose Wi-Fi when I get into my garage so a written explanation of this procedure (with any updates) especially for manual glass key cold starts of V8V

    Hi Mike, great video thanks and I’m due to book in my Virage for a service in the next month or so, so will give you a call. I might have missed it in the video, but what is the length of time after no use that I should be applying this method of start?

    Thanks for a very informative session. So, to be sure I fully understood, this procedure is not supported on late DB9 (ie : MY 2012 and later) ?

    Can you explain the best start up procedure after laying up, on a 1997 V8 with key ignition

    Hello and thank you for a very informative tutorial. I am thinking about buying a DB9 in the next couple of months and these videos help a lot in preparation.
    However, regarding the topic at hand, I am wondering why these procedures are made necessary in the first place. Don't get me wrong. I do understand the need for properly distributing oil and pressurising the engine before firing it up. What I don't understand is why Aston Martin did not incorporate this procedure into every engine start cycle automatically. In practice that would only delay the engine start for a couple of seconds and you would make sure that oil pressure is properly built up every time.

    Great video - I did this Evening guys!
    Went to start the v12v today for the first time in 18 months, I followed the cranking procedure for oil pressure (6 bursts of 5 - 10 seconds) but the oil pressure light did not go out, I left it in the end as didn’t want to drain the battery/ burn the starter motor out.
    Just wanted to check how many cycles is normal before the light goes out and what I should do?
    Thanks

    Hi Mike, having a 2006 V8 Vantage manual, I have followed AM owners manual procedure on a number of occasions with no issue. It is the opposite of what you say. First press accelerator to floor then turn on ignition. I'm trying understand what the issue is using this method when it has worked for me?
    Thanks in advance

    How long should the car be stopped without use until you recommend using this procedure? Couple of days, a week, a month?

    • @BamfordRose
      @BamfordRose  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      A month is probably the time not weeks, but worth noting to make sure battery is sufficiently charged to perform the cranking needed

    So with the db9, you keep the throttle depressed, the ignition on and the start button depressed and use the brake to stop cranking then release the brake then brake etc until oil light goes out, is that correct?

    Hi Mike, i have a 2014 V12 Vantage S, i tried your method but it didnt work, i had to get the pressure by starting it normally. I have seen on certain car websites (PH) some drivers are saying this cranking method will not work due to the V12V S having the Bosch ECU, is this info correct or have i got a car that will not crank over without ignition on?

    • @BamfordRose
      @BamfordRose  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The crank for pressure feature is not supported on the Bosch ECU
