- Chuwit Kamolvisit was born on August 29, 1961, the youngest of eight siblings, five boys and three girls. His father was named Charoen and his mother was named Chamnian Kamolvisit. His parents were Chinese. His family was in the business of importing and manufacturing jeans under the Hara brand. The business is currently managed by his older brother, Lertchai Kamolvisit.
Chuwit completed his primary education at Sahaphanich School (now the location of the Chan Issara Building), completed his lower secondary education at Assumption Sriracha School, and his upper secondary education at Thepsirin School. He holds a bachelor's degree in Commerce and Accountancy from Thammasat University. He studied at the University of San Diego but did not graduate.
After returning from the United States, Chuwit turned to his own businesses, such as building housing estates.
In 1989, Chuwit opened a massage parlor called Victoria. Secret and expanded the business to own 6 massage parlors under the Davis Group.
In 1995, July 13, 1995, Mr. Chuwit founded the Kamolvisit Family Foundation to help Thai students who are good at studying but lack financial resources and to support the construction of police station booths at traffic light intersections.
In 2003, he became famous.
Mr. Chuwit became known in mid-2003 when news broke that he had mysteriously disappeared during the demolition of a barber shop on Sukhumvit Road, a case involving the Metropolitan Police. A few days later, Mr. Chuwit appeared on the side of the road in a suburban area in an exhausted state. He was taken to the hospital. When he started to recover, Mr. Chuwit revealed that he had been abducted by a group of police.
After that, Mr. Chuwit appeared in the news from time to time when he began to expose various corrupt behaviors of the police, such as extortion and bribery, which became the focus of society at that time. Mr. Chuwit's personality at that time was fierce, fierce, and serious. But after that, Chuwit began to change his attitude, becoming a more cheerful, relaxed person, but he still did not stop exposing various corruption stories in society, making him popular with many people. Because of this fame, in the same year, a movie was made based on Chuwit's biography, called "The Godfather of Ang Thongkham", with Charan Ngamdee playing the role of Chuwit, whose name was adapted from Chuwit's.
2004 Political career
After that, Chuwit entered politics by selling all of his massage parlor shares and running for Bangkok governor on August 29, 2004, which was his birthday. Although he was not elected, he received more than 300,000 votes and came in third place. Later, Chuwit led the Thai Ancestral Party, which he founded, to join the Chart Thai Party and became the deputy leader of the Chart Thai Party.
In 2005, Chuwit ran for election as a member of the House of Representatives on the Chart Thai Party list, but was later ruled by the Constitutional Court that He was not a member of the Chart Thai Party for 90 days, so he was no longer an MP.
Later in 2006, Mr. Chuwit resigned from the Chart Thai Party to run for the Bangkok Senate, but the Election Commission (EC) revoked his right to run for the Senate, stating that he had not yet passed the 1-year limit from his status as a member of the House of Representatives before he could run for the Senate according to the law.
In 2007, in October 2007, Mr. Chuwit announced that he would not run for the election at the end of the year in any form, after being selected as the party representative to run for the party-list election in the second rank in the Bangkok area, giving the first rank to General Akaradej Sasiprapa, the former deputy supreme commander of the army, and believing that he would not be elected. He also attacked the party management of Mr. Banharn Silpa-archa, the leader of the Chart Thai Party. After the election, when the Chart Thai Party, which was previously on the opposite side of the People's Power Party, showed signs of wanting to join the People's Power Party to form a government, Mr. Chuwit attacked Mr. Banharn even more fiercely. And resigned from the Chart Thai Party
In 2008
On August 14, 2008, Mr. Chuwit graduated and received a Master of Political Science degree in Political Science from the Faculty of Political Science, Thammasat University.
On October 5, 2008, Mr. Chuwit ran for the Bangkok governor position again. After that, he campaigned by promoting a policy of seeing the problems and emphasizing the inspection of the work of Mr. Apirak Kosayothin, the former Bangkok governor, such as the construction of Bangkok City Hall 2 in Din Daeng District, and the monitoring of the fire truck and boat procurement case.
Pheu Thai Fight Party
On September 18, 2008, Mr. Chuwit registered a political party called "Pheu Thai Fight Party", with a fist symbol and the slogan "Different but not divided".
