    I can explain a heating mechanism of the bento boxes. Slaked limes and a water pack is built-in. Once the string is pulled, a pack is broken and water is poured to the slaked limes. Finally, it makes the box heat.

  • @Kyouno
    @Kyouno ปีที่แล้ว +219

    It’s kind of satisfying to see the whole box heat up with only a single pull from a string. Now if only there is a way to do so multiple times without throwing it away. In case you ever pack cold leftovers if microwave is not an accessible thing while outside

    • @tech4pros1
      @tech4pros1 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      you can buy the water activated heating pouches seperately, i'm sure you could find a washable reusable bento box that is meant for use with said heat pouches.

    • @straightpipediesel
      @straightpipediesel ปีที่แล้ว +12

      They have reusable heat packs. You snap a disk to trigger crystallization and it gets hot. You have to boil them for a while to get them to reverse.

    • @tech4pros1
      @tech4pros1 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@straightpipediesel those kind of reusable heat packs just don't put out enough BTU of heat to reheat food in 6-15 mins, the water activated ones are far more exothermic. The ones found in these self heating bento's and the hotpots dancingbacons has featured previously are calcium based and don't output flammable gases unlike the metallic based ones found in MRE's and other self heating military rations that liberate hydrogen gas!

    • @alcatraz160
      @alcatraz160 ปีที่แล้ว +53

      Due to the aging population alot of their product designs take into consideration availability to an elderly person or people with certain weaknesses. Good rule of thumb when it comes to Japanese products is that if you have to use a lot of force, you're probably doing it wrong or didn't read the instructions properly.

      I'm probably a bit jaded, but there's a reason we don't. Knowing us, it wouldn't be long before someone burned themselves on the heating element and sued the company. Probably the same reason why we don't have any "instant" foods that come with a flameless heater like in our military rations.

I have to assume that the string was only to rip the water packet open to start the system working. Though I may live in Florida USA I have traveled around the world and really enjoy watching the both of you at work. The most exciting thing to me is to go to any Japan town (San Francisco's is the one I love the best) and find the smallest restaurant and enjoy a bento box there. Sure you can go to a large location for tourist, but, I find the little mom and pop locations where the locals go to eat are always the best. There is just love in the food and it shows

    That would have been great when I traveled one and a half hours to school. I often just made a sandwich and ate it somewhere in the communte before dozing off. I would have been far better fed with this.
    Though what would have had me even better fed is less work hours per day. People are only productive for four or so hour in a day anyway.
