That monitor button opens the squelch up so if your getting weak signals you can push that button to hear them although it’ll be with the static in the background

the 16 comes on the G M R S side with radio set to a tower in put code and out put code then before you do key up call the F C C fore your license I did over the phone and the paper copy showed up three days later yes I do have one
if the radio has G M R S then yes you can talk more then16 miles you going to arepeter tower then out the company told you that but did not tell you how becouse thay are stuped and dont care thay goy your money and that is it you have new seport you have a short range 2 watt 2mile range OR line of site I am on G M R S and talk to the east coest all day long.

Hadn't tried to test mine yet,
Mine keep turning off after powering on after a min or so but shows 2 bars im going to try to charge it over night or maybe switch batteries idk?

How do you pair both together l
You have to have the same channel, I’d say use a channel that very random as you can catch other people using the same channel
set both radios on a table set it to channel add code if you want then do the same with the second radio then thay will work together

the radio will work at 2 miles apart or line of sight
on a 2 watt radio short range radio.
No way they get 16 miles.
Mine get 1 halfmile if I am fortunate.

Can you use your own rechargeable batteries?
Should be able to. They use AA's
any recharge battery which is are A A's will work get a second charger and charge up extra batteries to take with you.
