Good videos mate 👍 Have had an 1198 in the shed for 2 years collecting dust and have just completed a major on it including changing the fork seals. Thank you for the tips and helping me get it back on the road.
I once tried to remove the reservoir tank and like you said, it was very difficult and I gave up and used suction like you did. But then later I found the easiest way is to remove the hose that comes in to the very top of the radiator near the cap. Then you remove it from the straps and you can drain it in to the bucket. That hose attaches to the very bottom of the plastic reservoir so it drains it quite well. you can then pour the water in at the reservoir cap and flush it out really well.
Did a coolant flush on my '15 Multistrada... (May 2019). It's as easy as an oil change. Used a pressurized tank (herbicide sprayer) to flush (distilled water) and fill (Engine Ice) the cooling circuit and overflow tank. The sprayer nozzle had a 45° bend that alowed me to get it into the tight space where the Rad filler neck is... worked great... 😁👍 Thanks for sharing your vid... 🙂👍
Hi Guys From an old Grey Biker FYI coolant usually is good for at least 4 yrs. You change coolant based on Ph value . Use coolant Ph sticks to determine acidity . Prestone Violet for euro. cars is a good choice . The corrosion package is meant for Hi Performance European cars Cheaper alternative . Better to flush with new coolant than with water , your diluting the new coolant with pure H2O lowering the boiling point Done thanks
You could have used the same technique from the overfill on the radiator. Sucking out the residue radiator fluid on the bottom of the radiator before you went with the flush., by draining with that extraction pump.
Francis Chan thank you. there is one hidden fastener under the nose directly in the center of the fairing I used a standard Allen wrench. All the other fasteners are visible.
Nathan Santana what part of Az do you live in cuz I do too and I just picked up a 1098 I could use some pointers have watched all your vids good info man keep it up
Great clip man!!! Where did you find that pump that helped you get the fluids out. Your clip was very well narrated. Are you self-taught or is this a profession just out of curosity.
Trevor Kelly I got it off Amazon it's a MityVac. I am self taught I always purchase full service manuals and read line by line. This is just a passion for me thanks for the comment!
Tommy Toca you aren't bleeding the air your pushing out the air pockets in the radiator. The air then travels to the top of the radiator you than top off the radiator.
Keep the old coolant and get rid of the motorcycle! I hate the desmadromic valve train on ducatis....they were designed in the 1950's And ducatic is just to lazy to join the rest of the word.

Ducati Dude nice technique I'll try that next time!
Hey Nathan really appreciate all these videos! I'm actually getting a 1098 soon. It just needs some TLC to getting in tip top shape!
I always enjoy your videos
Good information
Very thorough
Thanks
Not sure what you do for a job but if you're not a Technical trainer or a mechanic you're in the wrong trade, great Video and awesome explanations.
Hi Guys
From an old Grey Biker

Damn great video. You saved a lot of people a lot of headaches and needless expense.
My 2015 MTS/S has the original coolant... 2 years overdue... 😖 It's unbelievable how time flies... Will have to flush it out this w/e...
"coolant breaks down even if it's just "chilling" ".... LOL didn't even realize he said that.
nice, helps alot. id love to see more for you 1098 . did you have to fill the coolant tank at all after filling the rad?
Yes there is a max level mark on the overflow tank. Thanks for watching!
Awesome how-to vids... thanks for sharing... 🙂👍
Nathan love the video and your other ones as well. Does the Engine Ice need to be diluted at all and how much did the bike take? Thanks.
You could have used the same technique from the overfill on the radiator.

nice work !
I had a hard time removing the nose / headlight fairing.... how do you reach to those bolt?
Francis Chan thank you. there is one hidden fastener under the nose directly in the center of the fairing I used a standard Allen wrench. All the other fasteners are visible.
Hi man
Love your videos
They help a lot
Can you please make a video of how to add preload to rear shock
Would really appreciate it!
do you have the service manual of the strettfighter 1098s 2013?
Nathan Santana what part of Az do you live in cuz I do too and I just picked up a 1098 I could use some pointers have watched all your vids good info man keep it up
Tucson Az. Congrats on your purchase!
Nathan Santana bummer I'm in the valley and thanks I'm pretty happy with it
Hey I did this and the stator now it’s all back together new oil and all but no oil pressure
산타나👍
4:16 Did you get your editing reversed? You pour in the DIDW prior to replacing the drain plug...
Ducati Dude no I believe I was flushing the coolant

Thats whats up. You got a new subscriber. Best of luck man.
great video .ciao from Serbia , ko radi servisiranje motocikla od Nathan moze da se dosta nauci .
Should have been on this side stand - if it's the same as most other Dukes
When you are running it to get the air out, do you leave the covers on or off?
If you mean fairings you don't need them on while your running the bike. Radiator cap of course is on while your running the bike.
Brotheus I meant radiator cap and overflow cap. So leave them on?
Tommy Toca yes yes! The radiator is under very high pressure when the bike is running!
Brotheus this may sound stupid but, how will the air bubbles bleed out if the caps are on?
Tommy Toca you aren't bleeding the air your pushing out the air pockets in the radiator. The air then travels to the top of the radiator you than top off the radiator.
You got a gram?
My 1098s recommends shell
Change it every 2 years? I’m sure it’s 4 years or 45k km whatever comes first lol just saying
Brotheus i see the drain bolt looks like there is a crush washer on it. Does this need to be replaced?
Triggerman1820 yes it should be replaced.
My fluid is 14 years old lmao

Chuck Duh! you cannot be for real, why should Ducati follow the rest of the SHEEP?
That's why we ride Ducati's.
It's a love affair not a ride.
