Talk about piggy backing on City’s name in the video title as click bait! Did we actually get to the bit where they discussed City in any detail? I’m not sure as I dropped off a couple of times but even after re-winding I appear to have missed it! This reminds me a bit of Simon Jordan’s podcast whereby he has decent guests and make some valid points or questions but he speaks far too much and often you forget what the original question was or he doesn’t get to the point. Maybe have your questions pre-prepared and researched so you don’t go completely off piste with your own personal opinions and then build in half an hour at the end to revisit any of their answers or ask for their views on anything you have to add. The guest was subtlety respectful in bowing to Barton’s knowledge of football - even though he’s an old school fan who knows the game more than most - so Barton should reciprocate that with a tad more humility and deference in the first hour or so when boiling the frog so we can hear the depth and detail of the guest’s expertise and viewpoints. I think Barton could be very good at this but needs to hone his style a bit.

FFP stops competition altogether. United are in tons of debt but seemingly that's perfectly fine. Any team should have the chance to dream and this just kills it dead, If a rich owner buys any club and invest in it , that surely adds more excitement like Newcastle than just the cartel of United, Liverpool and Arsenal.
Would it be possible for Wrexham (example) to play players that are factory workers (lets say on £500,000.00 a week wages) and pay a football wage of £15,000.00.
Turned off because Barton keeps interrupting. The guy started talking about Leicester and why it was great and bad at the same time. Barton interrupted for half an hour and the guy forgot the story.
Feel bad for anyone missing this pod because they might think Joey is just ranting about women in the mens game. 5 well articulated and well researched podcasts from a well spoken scouser 🤣
Just a note European football is the only league that uses money to move players. MLB, basketball, hockey and NFL do not allow the use of cash to buy players. Players are traded for other players. This gives young players a chance to go where they will get playing time. Having a hard cap on player’s salary will also increase fan interest.
Can't really be a hard cap if teams can breach it....look at the chiefs cap space for the last 2+years. Nothing in the trade rules preventing the transferring of $ for player's contracts or coaches for that matter...who was the HC traded for a million dollars & draft picks? iirc

If fair and principled sporting competition matters to the PL, and they don't want to look like toothless muppets... City 'should' absolutely be dealt with incredibly harshly to set an example. Titles stripped and maybe relegated. But we know they won't. They've unquestionably bent the rules and not even been slick or smart about it. It has always been flagrant and obvious... But they know the PL has no balls. They've cheated other clubs out of CL places and even league titles, but everyone has their price to turn a blind eye, and the PL will buckle and bottle it. FFP has been appallingly implemented, just like VAR. Right idea but implemented by idiots. I get it, it seems 'unfair', but I don't like this narrative that FFP was introduced by elite clubs to prevent 'noisy neighbours' from breaking up the cabal. It is absolutely essential for the event a 'sugar daddy' club owner has to be removed as per Roman Abramovic and the club immediately being stripped of their assets and disappearing. Clubs must be able to run within their means to protect them in a worst case scenario. It's not always about 'spoiling the fun'. It's a very small-minded conversation based entirely around 'big signings' like that's all people care about, and that's a shame... People always fail to mention that clubs are allowed to spend literally anything they want within FFP on the stadium, training facilities, academy etc... So it does encourage rapid growth in a sustainable way, but childish fans want 'galactico' signings and billionaire owners want to make a splash and see immediate results... But that is NOT the smart way to long-term success and you can be a laughing stock if that goes wrong. People also never talk about the issue with global wage structure. If Newcastle were suddenly allowed to pay 2nd tier players 500k per week, top players are then demanding 750k-1m per week. It's not sustainable and clubs will disappear overnight. Barca for example were paying 105% of the clubs turnover on player wages to compete with PSG etc. You can't allow that, it's insanity and so clubs must be capped by their organic turnover. Anyway I'll STFU or I'll be here all day... Appreciate the content Joey. Legend.
The fact that you don't like the fact that the so called big clubs implemented it to stop small clubs from growing does not make it right. It is a sham all together. Man City and the owners are not scared of being punished but they know it is difficult for the PL to prove them wrong. They are within their right to have the PL show whatever evidence they have.

If you’re digging at City you really need to get the fact they’re not actually state-owned. They are funded by Mansour’s personal fortune. His car collection cost over £3.2bn and his two super yachts are worth over £600m each. His total investment into City since 2008 is around £1.5bn…he’s trebled his investment money as evidenced by the clubs valuation when Silver Lake bought a chunk a few years ago. Also City are very profitable, £1bn + in prize money alone in the last five years and revenues of £820m/pa. Newcastle are state-owned but City are not - despite what certain hostile media might say.
