Please reread my original comment or have a better argument for why The National can't write pop songs besides "some songs aren't danceable" and "different styles and genre share characteristics."
They sort of are though. In the best of ways. You can dance to the music, it has catchy lines, it's got that sweet polyrhythmic piano part.
I really wasn't trying to argue, I was just stating my take on things.

I wouldn't really call most of their songs danceable, and catchy lines don't only exist in pop music.
