Likewise. I actually think the late shows have almost an obligation to leave the musical numbers up as a matter of record. If they want to dump the monologues and comedy bits, that’s their business, but the bands are a shared resource, or should be.
This is excellent of course , but I prefer the version with the two girl co singers (Mina Tindle (who sings on this version of course) and Kate Staples ) from the Union Transfer ,Philadelphia.
And the older generations (of which I am one by the way !) keep saying that there is no great music around nowadays . I feel sorry for them they won't know such beautiful music as this because they calcified years ago. This track /live performance imo compares with the greatest music I have heard over the last 60 years . Mina sounds and looks great in this performance, and the addition of the choir is sublime.
Still reduces me to tears. I feel lucky that I am seeing the National live in Manchester next month (August 2022). I really hope they play this and Roman Holiday etc. ps they only played one track from the last (brilliant album= my favourite). But you know it did not matter! The band and Matt were literally on fire. Best live gig I have seen since the late 1980's and in my all-time top ten gigs. Which includes David Bowie (1973), Joy Division (1980), The Clash (1977), Dream Syndicate (1983), Thin White Rope (1989), Dead Can Dance (1987), REM (1984), Led Zeppelin (1975),
Yep, the 2022 tour was heavily oriented toward TWFM, which I was okay with! That and the new material they were developing. I love IAETF, and wished for more, but they were great and I was grateful the 2020 show I had planned to see did get rescheduled, and that Matt was bouncing back.
@@jimwilliams3816 I was near the front in a medium sized venue (maybe 3000 or so ) .Matt a few feet in front of me with thankfully no horrible "moat " between the band and the audience. The National are in my all time top 10 bands .headed by the Beatles , Wall of Voodoo, The Velvet Underground, Dead Can Dance, Fleetwood Mac, Joy Division and REM.
Try "amethyst " by Low , "if you wait" . "what a day" and " America " London Grammar, "Moon on Moon " bat for Lashes, " " a long time ago " First aid kit " vespers " , Lisa Gerrard all the above open my tear ducts . They are so beautiful
I love Scott's tone on each album, but I wish they raised it in the final mixes. The only time I've ever really been able to feel the bass is if I'm playing them in my car or when I saw them live in 2019. But yeah, his tone is so warm and bright, but also compressed and soft. Love that dude.
March 2023 and this is still mesmerising
This is the best video on TH-cam. The people who wrote and performed this created utter magic.
This absolutely breaks my heart. What an incredible performance.
Broke my heart a bit when they took the original video of this down. Glad to find it again.

Finally the Jimmy Fallon version. Thanks for the upload. I love this song and this is the best version in my opinion. Thanks again.
Josh Beane I don’t, but reading you I NEED IT. I don’t know if it’s aviable in my country. I’m looking right now. Thanks 🙏

what track did they play?

A true masterpiece, beautifully executed live TV
This sounds absolutely perfect! Amazing song
Matt´s shuffling is iconic
This is the only music I cry to anymore.

This is so beautifull.
"I know I am easy to find, but you know it's never me ..."
What a singer she is..wow
Hermosa presentación. Un nudo en la garganta te deja.
Amo ésta canción, me recuerda tanto a mi chica ❤️🥰
Que classe indescritível esta musica. O dueto e fantastico, os instrumentos, nota 10
God, it’s such a fuckin banger of a song.
Thanks for this upload! Finally this version, again!
Meu DEUS do céu que coisa linda 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
Great song, and I think I'm liking this live version even more than the studio one.
IMO the best version is from the Union transfer with Mina joined by Kate Staples on co/backing vocals.
I love her
Eu sempre choro nesta apresentação
Amo esta canción!! Gracias!!
Just Lovely...
Mon amour est mort sur cette Sublime Chanson.
Johnathon is alive.
Wow...great soul.
This is more than epic😢
Great song 😍
Beautifull
The tone of Scott's P-bass is so delightful. It's such a shame it gets buried in the mix.

Is funny how perfectly this song captures my experience in my 17 year train wreck of a marriage and the version of me that remains afterwards.
Круто👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Matt forever
💙
this is what we used to call steak. So beautiful .
why did they take the original down?
Handsome old man
There is still great music out there. Bet you will never see them on the Grammies.
They’ve won one.
The grammy's are corrupted by wokeness...and the National usually vouches for the most woke presidential candidates.
This rivals the version on Live from the Beacon Theatre.
Is it just me or does Matt seem really on edge here? Great version either way
I thought this was the "Oh sees"
whos the girl?
Gail Ann Dorsey I think
mina tindle, i think she's bryce's wife
