- Trying out this 2008 rare 1/8 scale nitro f1 car in 2022. The Serpent F180 is probably one of the best and most realistic rc f1 cars. This is my 3rd f180, this particular one is a used one i purchased and the only one which i didn't paint the body myself, but it looks great. It will definitely need a proper tune or possibly a new engine and clutch adjustment. The novarossi big block is great but i might go with a newer and higher rpm version :)

The motor sounds fine. I'll bet 2nd gear shift pawl is stuck or the shift point just needs to be adjusted.

What a great looking F1. I haven't really explored Nitro's much because they seem to be more work keeping them tuned and running well. Your car really sparks my interest. It just wouldn't be as epic if it was an electric RC. Nice work putting together this great video. 🏆🏆 You better hang on to this one. I did find one for sale that was no where near as nice as yours for about the price of an Xmaxx.

" - Thats usually with cheap RTR engines; they often come with horrendous carburators that make them a nightmare. Especially the Traxxas 3.3 is known for not holding a tune. A good engine you usually only have to set up once and then only adjust the high end or low end needle by 1/16 - 1/8 turns depending on the weather and it will run like that the entire day.

Motor is likely fine. If it idles well, that's a sign that it's in pretty decent shape. Just needs some tuning (and quality fuel/percentage of nitro makes a pretty big diff, too)

Looks awesome, but you are correct, not shifting. I love nitro. People shouldn't be intimidated. Get a cheap temp gun and a heat gun to warm the engine before starting. The adjustments are minimal once you get it tuned for your area.
Beside mega FT-28, do you know what is the alternative engine for F180?

I have only one set not for sale they were ridiculously hard to find because of the discontinued parts
Loosen the two screws on the second gear shoe and it should shift earlier
LOOSE the m3 screws, dont touch the little grub screws

Sounds like it needs a good tuning.. the sputtering is too much fuel.. if it was lean it was be much more high pitch sound.

Most hobby shops really. Horizon hobby is a good place to start. They run on methanol+nitromethane fuel, not gasoline.

Ton moteur n'est pas encore libre niveau carburation..il doit émettre un son clair et pas étouffer.. Revoit ton carburateur .. Très belle machine ta F1❤️❤️

do you have to train to learn how to drive it
that idle is way too high and by listening to the engine while you brake(stop) it seems to be the gas/brake servo end point not fully closing the carb when idling.
because when you brake, the engine goes into a lower idle.
@ 3:47 mark i can also hear that you've leaned the high speed needle to the leanest it can handle without losing power.
so if you don't get 2nd gear maybe check if it even works?
